"This under-loved 60-acre green space onthe east bank of the Kamo River with 120,000 plants and more than12,000 species is one of the best spots in Kyoto to reflect on nature. The garden has extensive cherry tree groves, tropical greenhouses filled with rare flora, a night flower garden planted with nocturnal blooms, and beds of perennials and annuals thatattract bees, small copper butterflies, and Daurian redstart birds."

A lovely place for plants and flowers lovers. Bring your student card (if any) for ticket discount or free entrance depending on the seasons. For people from tropical country, the tropical house was like everything you could see in your home country so if you want something new, maybe this one can be left out, plus you have to pay extra to get into this area. Everything else was good. The flowers and scene you can see may change throughout the year. Check the flower of each month.

What a beautiful place! I can in late May and the rose garden was absolutely beautiful!! They had so many different types and colors! This botanical garden really has something for everyone. They have manicured garden beds, native plants, a conservatory, a forested area and even the natural forest. There was also a very small shrine that was there which was beautiful and very quiet. I recommend going early when they first get there since I was met with quite a few school groups later in the day, but I didn't mind.

Kyoto Botanical Garden is one of the most peaceful and relaxing places you can visit in Kyoto. Conveniently located near Kitayama Station, it’s easily accessible by public transport. Spanning over 24 hectares, the garden offers an impressive collection of plants, both native to Japan and from around the world. One of the highlights is the large conservatory, which houses a wide variety of tropical and subtropical plants. Walking inside feels like stepping into a lush, green paradise — a stark contrast to the cooler outdoor air, especially in spring. It's a must-visit for plant lovers or anyone who appreciates nature's beauty and diversity. The entire garden is very well maintained. The walking paths are clean and easy to follow, and there are plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the scenery. During spring, cherry blossoms bloom throughout the park, creating a magical and romantic atmosphere. In autumn, the changing colors of the leaves paint the landscape in stunning shades of orange and red — perfect for photography. The entrance fee is very affordable, and since it's not as crowded as Kyoto’s more famous tourist spots, it offers a peaceful escape from the busy city. Families with children will also appreciate the open spaces and playground area. Overall, Kyoto Botanical Garden is a perfect spot to enjoy nature, learn about plant life, or simply unwind. Whether you're a local or a tourist, it’s a hidden gem well worth a visit! (Late post, but the memory still feels fresh.)

Entrance fee is 200¥ but if you want to visit conservatory also you can buy 400¥ ticket from ticket machine. Easy access to this garden by bus and train. I really enjoyed the flowers in the greenhouse. This time of year wasn’t much to see outside. I think this botanical garden is good for enjoy cherry blossoms and autumn colors. And summer season I think lotus and roses also can enjoy

Absolutely brilliant half day out. The conservatory is huge and full of interesting plants and beautiful displays. A real highlight (though also a moderate source of danger) is the kites soaring overhead. You can hear them singing and watch them patrol the skies. There are many beautiful spots for pictures or to do painting or just relax and the rose garden in bloom is one of the most impressive I have ever seen. Def best to go off peak and just as good if not better than a lot of the local hikes for far less trouble. Get the stamps as you go round for a great souvenir. Be sure to get a quick lunch in the cafe, the food is excellent and well-priced. The paths and routes are very accessible for all and there are many mobility support options you can request as you enter. A wonderful and inclusive botanical garden.

Admission fee is 500yen for an adult. Which is a crazy price given how big the garden is, and the quality of experience. I have been to quite a few flower parks and gardens in Japan's spring and this has got to be one of my favourites. They also have a massive conservatory (glasshouse) featuring lots of non-native plants. Do take note that within the grounds, not all flowers and fruits may be blooming, depending on the time of year, so just to take note! They have an ongoing stamp rally for a postcard for 100yen too, ask the counter upon entering!

Apart from shopping and food tasting in Osaka, going to Kyoto Botanical Garden is also enjoyable. Entrance fer for an adult is only ¥500 and ¥250 for over 65 senior. Really bargain compared to any botanical garden in other Asian countries, for e.g. Singapore. Green house is a must visit spot and is closed at 4pm. A lot of varities of flowers collected from various places Don't forget to pay ¥100 for a post card. After collecting stamps from 5 places, the post card will show Rose Garden with a mountain background view. Gorgeous 😍 Rose Garden is a must visiting place. However, the blooming stage of roses was just over when I arrived.

Magical gardens on a sunny day. The staff was kind and helpful. The enveloping green and dotted blooms were refreshing. I was so happy to be here. It's a real must-visit!

Yelp
We found this place accidentally during one Spring morning in Kyoto while hunting for Cherry Blossoms and I fell in love with it instantly. They have of course lots of different flora but I was specially captivated by the tulips and Cherry blossoms. Some people brought their picnic mats and food so they had a great time under the good weather and the cherry trees. It's really a beautiful place and hopefully I can go back there again soonnnnnnn....

Yelp
Because I went on a motorcycle, I was not troubled with the parking lot! However, the parking lot of the car seems to be crowded because there is not so it. I recommend that go in public transport:) Many plants are planted and there are beautiful!!!! The flower that they can watch by a season is different, but a spring cherry tree and a summer hydrangea are recommended‼ It is all right even if U do not know what flower it is! billboard teaches U!!!! The person liking flowers, please drop in. p.s There is the cafe that cakes are delicious near an exit!!

Yelp
Nice place to visit. However, I recommend going in the springtime when most flowers and cherry blossoms are in bloom. I went in early October and there was not too much to see except for large groves of trees and some cosmos. But I can imagine how pretty it must be when the time is right. It is easily accessible by subway and the entrance fee is reasonable. There is an additional entrance fee for the arboretum.

Yelp
I had lived in a dormitory close to this publicly-operated large-scale botanical garden for only two years of my college period. But I'd not been here while I stayed in Kyoto. When I was junior, I returned home and attended my university from my house. I have been here twice. For the first time I came here with my junior of the circle activity when I was senior, next with a female friend of mine after I got married. Anyway, rumor has it that there is a sad legend of Kyoto. If couples come to a certain place, they will be apart. For example as a famous spot, Togetsukyo bridge. If a couple cross the bridge together, their relations will be over. There is no scientific evidence. I don't know whether it is true or not. So please misunderstand it. But this botanical garden is also counted for it. Both of them were my important friends. However I had said good bye to them for a long time because of a slight misunderstanding. A few years ago, our relationship has been regained. Sorry, back to the main topic. If you stop by here, you will enjoy seasonal flowers all year around. This garden is composed of two areas, Western one such as rose gardens or tulip beds and Japanese one like plum trees and so on. Especially tulip season is special! Also a large green house is annexed. You can observe various tropical plants here. Kamo river flows along the west side and a fashionable street of Kitayama adjacent to the north. You will enjoy strolling in the garden and shopping at the same time.

Yelp
Located located along the Kitayama street and close to Kitayama subway station or bus stop "京都府立植物園 Kyoto Botanical Garden" I was here as school activity in elementary school. I guess almost all students have been here. At the moment we had to walk hand in hand with a classmate but I was crazy shy so I didn't do that. Oh it's really lovely my memory haha Beside of this garden, there is a cute cafe. Yummy food, unpretentious people, cozy place. That is amazing cafe! It takes a bit wait at lunch but it is worth! I had pizza lunch so delicious! I can't wait to try it again!
