Ace Hotel Kyoto Is Now Accepting Reservations - AFAR

"Built in the mid-1920s by architect Tetsuro Yoshida, this historic telephone company building was partially retained and sensitively repurposed as the centerpiece of a hotel development, with restoration and design choices intended to connect the building, its land, and its history. The conserved structure sits opposite a new addition across a green courtyard and anchors gallery and public spaces within the adaptive complex." - Sarah Buder

Excellent hotel! Good location (nearby there is a bus stop, metro station, cafes, food shops) in the tourist area of Kawaramachi, there are many interesting places around and not so far from the river embankment. The room itself is spacious, clean, cozy. A bit old furniture, but all household items worked. Cleaning was good and timely. Friendly and helpful staff. In terms of price and quality - a great choice!

I am shocked to say this was my worst hotel experience ever. The bed was absolute terrible. Hardest spring mattress that must have been decades old. The sink cold not be adjusted and only HOT water came out. There was a random air purifier in the room which raised questions.. I couldn’t even sleep 30 min before my throat and nose started closing up. Everything is wrong with this hotel including the air quality. Staff was very unfriendly when I spoke with them about my issues. Not even sure if he will notify management. Stay clear of this place.

Perfect location opposite Takashimaya and Fujii Daimaru at the centre of Kyoto. The room is pretty small and looks quite old. As the wifi is available to everyone who has access to the elevator, the connection suffers quite tremendously. The speed is also very compromised.

Good service from the reception and helpful. Room is satisfactory, small but convenient location. I came here last year. Thank you so much for the good service here. Arigato~🫶🏻ありがとうございます from Malaysia 🇲🇾

Location is in the middle of the train station. The room I was in is spacious, unlike APA. Recommended then for the convenience next to Nikishi market.

Great location! Welcoming staff! Great price! Sincerely enjoyed the stay. I would definitely stay with them the next time I’m back in Kyoto.

Location is perhaps the best cause in choosing this hotel. Immediate access after exiting from station. There is also a convenience store just next to hotel. Check in process was smooth. Room was small (like other hotels in Japan) but acceptable. Very limited bathroom space though. Ladies would probably have to do their makeup outside the bathroom. Amenities include a kettle, a hairdryer, a mini-refrigerator and slippers. Shower soap and shampoo were provided but judging from the texture it seemed like they are diluted with water. Water from both shower and tap was strong. Wifi on the other hand was quite weak and speed was slow. If you hate soft beddings and pillows like I do, you would probably have a good time here. I did not get any neck pain from sleeping throughout my stay here.

The hotel is right next to the kyoto-kawaramachi station on the hankyu line (exit 6) and it was so convenient for travelling. There are many bus stops nearby that also led to prime tourist hotspots like Gion Street, Hōkan-ji, and more. There are many shops nearby that could serve all of your needs be it shopping or eating; Nishiki Market is also super close by. Kyoto Central Inn provided all necessary & basic ammenitities that one would need. The bathroom was definitely on the smaller side, but it was still decent for a petite-sized asian woman like myself. My only gripe with this place would probably be my struggles with the wifi. The connection was constantly fizzling out for me and loading & uploading media was not the smoothest. In general, I did not mind it as much as I was out of my room majority of the time. However, if you are someone who is a content creator or requires heavy usage of wifi, this might be a point to consider. I had to rely on my data instead most of the time in the room. In a nutshell, i had a great stay at Kyoto Central Inn & did not encounter any major problems. The star of the show was definitely its prime location & reasonable price for my 4D3N stay.

If you love sleeping in the scent of ash trays and furnishings from the 60's, this is the right place for you! If you're a normal person, I suggest you stay far far way from here. Yes it's right outside the kawaramachi station and is convenient, but I would really rather walk an extra 10-15 minutes not to stay here. The rooms are very old and mostly allow smoking. The walls, curtains, and everything else in the room reeks of smoke and musk. It's disgusting. The bathroom is puny, even for Japan standards. And every device in this room is about 100 years old. The AC doesn't work. Just about every terrible thing that you can imagine, you will find here. I'd pay the extra $5/ night and stay anywhere else. If I hadn't already prepaid, I would cancel my reservation.
