I can understand why this place was empty and has such low review. My son and I experience was very much the same as other reports on here. There is a male waitor who is rude and has an issue with foreigners. The place was empty, yet we were told there was a 30min wait for a table. I would be very surprised to see if thos business manages to stay afloat with staff like this. My friend you are a waitor, you're not a brain surgeon, you're condescending attitude is very poorly placed for the lane you're driving in.

We found this place by chance and went in for coffee and cake . Nice atmosphere with high ceilings, great outdoor views. We’ll be going back to try lunch soon.

Interesting interior architecture and design. The food and service were good. The menu at lunch is limited. Our waiter was all smiles.

Course lunch is good, tempura in western fusion interpretation worth a michelin star ( others in course is 3 of5 stars) , vibe is irresistibly attractive and luxuriously cozy

A great place to enjoy a relaxed dinner. Interior design is just beautiful, plus the good food, and warm service. Not sure why there's not too much people here, maybe it's new, or the business is not welcomed in Kyoto?

This restaurant was amazing, 3.9 stars is nowhere close to reality, this is a 5 star place. The food was great, service unbelievable and a beautiful design. I recommend to anyone visiting Kyoto, to come to Modern Terrace.

Came for dinner after registering our marriage. They had beautiful Australian sparkling brut and the baked Camembert was delicious.

So I am sitting here drinking a local Kyoto beer looking over the park while my family shops in the bookstore down below - the staff is very helpful and the beer plus view are excellent - I would recommend this place for a nice afternoon break.
