Kyuramen - Review - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"The national ramen chain Kyuramen has arrived in Philly, located directly across from RTM in Center City. You can choose from omurice, bao buns, and agedashi tofu, but the headliner is ramen—which is why there are seven choices, like sapporo miso and tonkotsu shoyu. photo credit: Candis McLean We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Candis R. The inside of this place was super cool! There’s a honeycomb-like structure you can sit in which makes for a fun vibe. The ramen was pretty good, not the best I’ve had in Philly but still very solid. It’s also connected to TBaar, so you can order bubble tea or fruit teas with your meal 🧋. Service was okay, nothing to complain about but nothing standout. I’d definitely come back to try some of their other dishes!

Google
Great fun Japanese place! All our food was good & tasty. We loved all the special elements - like the authentic call button for waiter , the plaques hanging on tree by shrine and the free game with message in bowl to see if you win free food! We did! Won free chicken for next visit. The honeycomb structure is very cool too! We enjoyed the music too, a mix of Japanese and Korean .

Google
The vibe in here was really cool. The little honeycomb booth we sat in was intimate and they had little wooden planks you could write/draw on and they hang them up.. the ramen was decent but I’ve had better.. I’d definitely go back but mainly for the vibes

Google
Excellent! Highly recommend! Very happy about our first time at Kyuramen! Everything was awesome: super nice atmosphere, very yummy and nicely presented food, and great service! The only small caveat is that my friend found one of her ramen broths a bit too salty. We’ll definitely come back!!

Google
The popcorn chicken is so delicious and juicy and the ramen is very delectable. The service is warm and professional and the price point is justified. I highly recommend the combo meal for two as it comes with two desserts including the cherry blossom jelly, two bowls of ramen, and one large serving of popcorn chicken. Will come again!

Today was my sister’s birthday and we went here to celebrate. We had a few errors but the customer service from the hostess was amazing. When we ordered, one of our drinks took a while coming out. One of us ordered a miso bowl that didn’t have any meat even though she didn’t order it without meat. My bowl (mega ramen) which I ordered with no pork, took a very long time to come out. I got my bowl when everyone else was finished theirs Thankfully, everything was corrected which is why I wanted to leave a high rating. Our server was very apologetic and the hostess offered a discount to make up for the errors. The hostess handled the situation very professionally which was amazing 😊😊 Also, food was delicious and worth the wait 🍜 I will definitely be back 🙉🙉

Google
Kyuramen offers a stylish Japanese-inspired setting with unique honeycomb booths that make dining extra special. The menu is full of flavorful options—be sure to try the Omurice for the experience alone. It's a fun and tasty highlight worth checking out!

Google
I’ve been to Kyuramen in New York City, and it was an incredible experience. I’m particularly fond of the Kyuramen in Philadelphia. It’s a fantastic place to have a date or hang out with friends. The food is always abundant and delicious. I highly recommend coming back again. .

Yelp
I've been craving omurice and was so excited to see this open up in Philly. It more than lived up to expectations. 5/5 will be back. The restaurant has a lovely honeycomb architectural design as well as a lot of private booths in the back. Great for large groups. Service was notably excellent. My water glass was always full and the servers did a great job of checking in just the right amount. I enjoyed my omurice and the presentation of it. The cutlet was a smidgen tough. Boba was excellent as well. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

Yelp
Yeah, this place is a chain but still - thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here two days ago. I stuck my head in the previous evening. It was full and 90% of the patrons looked Asian. Right or wrong, I took that as a good sign. I had tonkotsu black garlic ramen - excellent. Girlfriend got skewers - zucchini and beef skirt. Also quite good. We got a pork bao bun: the pork was fantastic but a little skimpy portion wise. The bun was doughier than ideal but good. The amazing lemonade was really good. I had a passionfruit iced tea thing - deelish. Ambience and service both A+. Would return and will return.

Yelp
*Small notes written at the time of eating there* Ambiance: Pretty casual and trendy set up with an amazing tree in the center and booths decorated aesthetically. Me and my friends sat in a private room located right next to the greeting desk. 1.) Appetizers: - Popcorn chicken: Seems crispy but no crisp when biting down. Soft and tender meat that was served in around 10 minutes. Could use some more seasoning to bring out flavors; a bit bland just by itself, used cayenne pepper to make it spicy. - Takoyaki: Soft and fragile, Very light taste, not too heavy and easy to swallow. Stuffing is very thin when swallowed. Sauce pairs well with it - Agedashi Tofu: Super soft and light. Outside skin is very crispy and nicely fried. Sauce is amazing - Shrimp tempura: Very crispy, tasty, and soft. The sauce is creamy yet goes well with it. - Chili Wings: Very saucy and somewhat sweet with a hint of spiciness. Unfamiliar with the sauce and unsure about the taste altogether but the wings were crispy and were a good start for appetizers. 2.) Noodles: - Sapporo Miso Ramen(Not Spicy): Noodles are firm but also soft and flavored with the miso broth which is warm, filling, and super savory. Bamboo is soft and easy to chew and the Wakame Seaweed also has a nice texture to it with the soup. 3.) Desserts: - Matcha Tiramisu: Sooo good! Soft creamy and light on the tongue with an amazing matcha taste to it, though the matcha powder does get stuck on the roof of your mouth which may put some people off. - Matcha Pudding: A tiny bit underwhelming and bland, but pairs well with the milk given. The red bean makes it delicious and sweet. - Cherry Blossom Pudding: The jelly itself is bland and somewhat tasteless, but the sugar water makes up for it and gives it the flavor it needs. Service: Minimum service(Main reason why I knocked off a star. I tend to be lenient with my reviews and that's proven with all my current reviews so if I knock off a star it's mostly because of a negative experience). When I first walked in the servers were pretty much just staring at me while I tried to greet them and I had to figure out myself that the front desk and hostess/greeter was on the right side next to the door which you would have to physically turn you head to see. I forgave that though because they were pretty nice and understanding when talking to us and checking in on us. One thing to note is that the server who gave us our glasses of water could have told us with a nicer tone to pass the water down. When she came back to give us our desserts she walked away immediately before I could even ask for more spoons. As a server myself who's had experience in customer service, the tone that she spoke in would make people think that she's being rude and disrespectful towards them, especially with the way she just immediately walked off, which we perceived in a negative way. Being able to communicate with diners and asking if they need anything after serving them food is crucial to good service so I believe some training on communication would make service much better.

Yelp
I ordered takeout from here so cannot comment on service, but the few times I've walked by, I have definitely noticed the unique interior design of the place. Finally, a spot in center city that does a decent omurice!!! They offer both a curry sauce and beef demi glace sauce to pick from. I got the omurice with katsu and also really liked the light crispy katsu. Would definitely return to have this again, as well as to try their ramen and teas. The Thai iced tea was just as expected!

Yelp
Kyuramen x TBaar across from the Reading Terminal Market provides solid ramen--great noodles--with a good number of non-ramen offerings, boba etc. from its TBaar, and more seating than some of the ramen-specific restaurants in Philly. Service was friendly and the space is inviting with its honeycomb theme--loved the small tables nestled in the honeycomb crevices in one wall. There are also private (curtained) rooms available for larger parties. We tried the Honeycomb Platter (Chili Garlic Edamame, Popcorn Chicken, Shrimp Tempura, Takoyaki, Agedashi Tofu) of which I especially loved the tofu--what a marvelous sauce! The batter on the shrimp and the chicken made me think that the katsu offerings must be good as well, as it was nice and light. I tried the Korean Kimchi Ramen (Chashu Pork, Kimchi, Bamboo Shoots, Corn, Wakame, Scallions, Nori, Half Marinated Egg) and my fellow diner tried the Kyushu Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen - Spice level "hot" (Chashu Pork, Corn, Bamboo Shoots, Wakame, Scallions, Nori, Half Marinated Egg). Both had delicious broth and chewy noodles (thinner than traditional egg ramen noodles, but not as thin as buckwheat), and the marinated egg and kimchi were terrific. The pork had a nice flavor, but was not as succulent as found in other ramen bowls in the city. Both bowls had a nice zip of spice, but I wouldn't label either as "spicy." We didn't win anything (drink all the broth in your bowl to see what word is printed on the bottom), but will return, especially if we had a vegetarian in our dining group, as they do offer a Vegetable Miso Ramen served with Vegetable Broth.

Yelp
Great addition to Chinatown/Reading Terminal Market. I've been to the Cherry Hill area one but it doesn't have the fun honeycomb booths to sit it. Loved that. Food was really good and service was attentive. Really enjoyed our meal.

Yelp
I've been eagerly anticipating Kyuramen's opening for a while, so when it finally opened its doors, I rushed over with my coworkers for my birthday lunch. I wasn't disappointed! Service was speedy and there was no wait at ~noon on a weekday. We ordered a good swath of the menu and I think things were well-represented. My coworker got the chicken ramen, which I didn't taste, but she enjoyed it thoroughly. I'll rate what I ate below: TBaar Lychee Lime Green Tea (at a previous visit) -- 8/10 -- Really good fruit tea! The lychee pieces were smaller, which made them easier and more pleasant to drink up. TBaar Sea Salt Milk Foam Green Tea -- 10/10 -- I thought this was just about a perfect milk foam green tea. The foam was light, sweet and salty--and most importantly, the tea was strong enough to stand up to it and allow the flavors to mix perfectly. I'll definitely order this again. Yakitori Platter -- 8/10 -- The variety was great and we could all get something that we liked. The beef was especially tasty! My one complaint was that the green onions on the Negima skewer were very small, but that's a, well, very small complaint, lol Tonkotsu Omurice Combo -- 7/10 -- I loved the taste of the omurice with the demi-glace sauce, and the katsu was crunchy and delicious. Little bits of chicken in the fried rice were a nice surprise! The omelet was creamy and fell open beautifully. My main issue with this dish is that for some reason it's only available as a combo with dessert. I didn't really want dessert, but I did want omurice. So... Sakura Jelly -- 6/10 -- This was just fine. The pickled cherry blossoms at the bottom were nice, but it was mostly just plain jelly with a sugar syrup sauce and jelly boba. A lot of the same texture and I didn't really want it in the first place. To sum up, I'll definitely return to Kyuramen and take advantage of their set meals, maybe, because the prices for those are good. I know that it's more popular in Japan, but I hope that they loosen up their menu a bit.

Yelp
Decent enough bowl of ramen, but nothing to write home about (maybe a bit bland). Decent enough steamed pork bao bun, although maybe a bit doughy (and maybe a bit bland). Super-cool space and super-friendly service! Like, amazing wait staff! But at over $25 for the lunch Combination A, I just didn't feel the value was there. As in, the ramen and pork bao bun just weren't good enough to justify the price. Maybe I'll come back to try the omurice...or maybe not. We'll see.
google avatar

Kristen C.

Yelp
The ambiance is slightly upscale but the food and drinks are comforting and delicious. The #2 ramen had a slow build of heat that started to get more tough towards the bottom of the bowl but it was great overall. I'd just potentially skip the fish flakes since they ended up clumping together in my soup. Service was super friendly and they even offered the option of splitting by dish at your table which is nice if that's your preference. I would love to come back and try the omurice and some of the appetizers in the future. Definitely worth a try!
google avatar

Ken C.

Yelp
Excellent drinks, food not so much Stopped by for a drink and snack. Really liked their strawberry yogurt drink - right balance of fruit and yogurt and not too sweet. Their popcorn chicken however kinda sucked. Kinda greasy, barely any basil, and overpriced...recommend skipping that

Yelp
Amazing food and a great atmosphere. Had a wonderful time and will come back again if I come to Philly!

Yelp
New spot opened near to Chinatown which serves lots of Japanese comfort foods and tea, boba, and smoothies in the Tbaar. Omurice is an interesting dish which was tasty, filling, and had the final steps prepared at your table. Think of rice covered with egg and cheese, and then tasty demi glacé or curry sauce drizzled on top. Other food options include ramen, takoyaki, skewers, dumplings, and other platters or small plates. Drinks include many common options for tea spots and you can customize with sugar/ice level. The taro smoothie was very creamy with strong flavor. Presentation was great here, and staff were helpful and quick to make sure you were taken care of. Decor inside is quite unique. Cool new place to try some interesting foods. Thanks

Yelp
Ramen & Omurice. Chain that opened Monday and is savvy for success & branding. They want the royal flush. Yelp waitlist, futuristic pod, ceiling, and seating design -- but wood and trying to be warm yet their lighting is still 5000k. I had low expectations given the menu and setting but I enjoyed my omurice and dessert (matcha pudding) more than expected. That said, they're simple. Pork cutlet was worse than expected. One person had an issue where it wasn't fully cooked and reported it. We expected them to redo the cutlet but instead they gave that person's order free -- but they also never gave another pork cutlet? Omurice is really fun (cut it yourself!) and definitely should be shared. Didn't try the ramen, yin-yang bowl & combos are fun. Happy to have it across from RTM. Sit down for food or quickly get a drink. We'll see how the first week dust settles. Staff was sweet

Yelp
We came here after we realized the original place were going to eat at did not have air condition. It a cute little place and have this honeycomb seating area as well as tables, and we got seated in little booth with the Japanese style curtains. We got a menu for food and menu for drinks from the TBaar with is a drink spot nextdoor/inside. When you are ready you can push a button to call the wait staff. Most of the food option is ramen and while not ideal for the weather out side they had a couple options. My colleague ordered the Chicken ramen and I got the honeycomb combo. Essentially served in dishes to mimic their honeycomb seating. Food came out quick and was really good and for me the right portion. The best part of my dish was the Agedashi Tofu and the Spicy edamame. Service was quick and our server was very sweet. After a long day of conference attendance was near and quick. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Rainstorm 20 June 2025 @ 1430. We popped into Kyuramen to aviod getting drenched and landed in a honeycombed hexagon, absent bees. However, this cozy restaurant offered excellent ramen and fabulous service. Mike had Ramen, I had Tonkatsu Omurice with Curry Sauce, which I never had before. I can't give a Yea or Nay because I have nothing to compare it to. We also had a Japanese Cherry Blossom Jelly dessert and Iced Tea from their Tea Bar. All in all, it was the bee's knees. *"The bee's knees" is an old-fashioned slang term that means something is excellent, of high quality, or very impressive
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
I love how the place is set up. It's so cute and pretty. I would want an opportunity to sit in the beehive tho, The food was good. I got the omurice set. The server didn't really portion out the sauce too well so my pork katsu got just a tiny drizzle. Otherwise service is good. The combo in my opinion was pretty worth it. I totally in love with the matcha pudding.

Miliardo P.

Yelp
Have you ever just walked into a place and thought, WOW? The atmosphere is welcoming, encompassing, and very date friendly. We were seated immediately in one of the upstairs swings and it was just fun. We started with the brown sugar bubble tea and a few appetizers, all were delicious!!! Then it came time for the main event the ramen. Soooooo good, and filling! Not to mention this is the first ramen place I've seen that sells combo meals. Pork buns, ramen, and a drink for a really decent cost. Seriously we ate quite a bit and didn't break the $100 level. I went with the pork ramen, my partner went with the katsu and we were soon in a food coma (the ITIS is a thing) Service was top notch as well, attentive while leaving plenty of room for a couple to talk. Water glasses never went empty (always a bonus in my eyes) So bring a date, and you'll have a wonderful time
google avatar

Yoshi L.

Yelp
1. Food is good 2. They have free dessert if you found "free" writing on the bowl 3. The ambiance and vibes are nice and lively. the place looks pretty 4. The service's a little slow but still okay
google avatar

Jimmy N.

Yelp
The restaurant had great atmosphere. The service was great. We were able to be seated right away and did not have to wait too long if we needed help from the staff. The food was amazing. I ordered the Combination A which included the Tokyo Tonkotsu Shouyu Ramen, Steam Pork Bao Bun, and Matcha Pudding w/ Red Bean. The Steam Pork Bao Bun was light and flavorful. The Tokyo Tonkotsu Shouyu Ramen was delicious. It has a light broth which did not over power the flavor of the pork and other toppings. The Match Pudding w/ Red Bean was refreshing to eat and had a nice texture. The Thai Tea is a must if its one of your favorite drinks.
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
It was my first time at a kyuramen location. The interior is cute. I got a Kyushu Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen, spice level of 2 chilis. I think the chashu texture and flavor was good. However, the tonkatsu broth was overpowered by the chili oil, which tasted like Szechuan peppercorn. If I were to come back, I would try something like the Tokyo tonkatsu shouyu. The waiters were nice but since the restaurant started getting busy after we were sat down, food took longer to come out.

Nhi S.

Yelp
This bowl cost $20 total before any taxes and tips, which I think is very expensive. I'm not a fan of pork belly, so I always get my ramen replaced with chicken and originally, I had pick #6, but it came with pork, and the establishment refused to replace the protein. I tried to replace it with a different veggie, and the establishment also refused. They only allowed to remove the item but still overcharge me something that I am not getting. In the end, I ordered the chicken ramen, and it came with only 3 pieces of chicken the size of a quarter. I asked for spicy chicken ramen, and they did not have it but just gave me chili oil and charged me extra for it, and I did not know it was an extra charge. The picture is when I added the chili oil mix (I did not even dig in yet), and it truly look like they barely gave me any ingredients and not as much broth. This is not a $20 meal. I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere for ramen especially if you want to have a nice time enjoying your food and quality service. There are other spots in Chinatown too. The bowl taste like normal ramen. I wouldn't say it is one of the best ramen shops I've ate at.

Yelp
Great interior, awesome friendly staff, chill/nice vibes Food consistent and decent

Nathaniel R.

Yelp
I had ramen two ways and the pork bao with Thai tea. Everything was fantastic and the service was even better: so attentive, friendly, kind and playful. The decor is beautiful and the establishment was extremely clean. I really loved the elevated booths and the individual spices on the table.

Yelp
Dining experience in Kyuramen, Philadelphia is absolutely 5-star perfect! The atmosphere is immersive from the moment you step into a comfortable environment full of authentic Japanese style. Their signature ramen #1 - the soup base is rich and mellow, the noodles are strong and smooth, the char siu is soft and tender, and the heart-boiled egg is perfectly heated, which is worthy of being their signature #1! Although ramen is famous and delicious, the Omurice I tried this time is the highlight - the waiter performed a live performance with a wooden plate and cut the egg bag, watching the golden egg liquid flow down and then drizzle it with rich sauce, the ritual atmosphere was filled with the atmosphere, and the taste was beyond imagination! We also ordered the Yakitori platter and each skewer was very delicious. The dessert is matcha pudding. The slightly bitter fragrance of matcha perfectly blends the milky aroma. The taste is delicate and smooth, sweet but not greasy, and it is the perfect ending! More importantly, the service here is impeccable, the waiters are extremely enthusiastic and attentive, with sincere smiles throughout the whole process and quick response, especially the one who performed the egg bread rice, which made the whole dinner particularly memorable. From the authentic and comfortable environment, every carefully crafted delicious dish (** classic ramen, stunning egg rice, authentic barbecue, perfect dessert!**), to the extremely enthusiastic service, Kyuramen has achieved full marks in all aspects, creating an unforgettable Japanese dining atmosphere. Highly recommended to everyone, can't wait to go again!

Yelp
Fantastic from start to finish. Every dish was rich in flavor and beautifully plated. The staff was attentive without being intrusive. One of the best meals I've had in months.
google avatar

Kemran M.

Yelp
Over all the place it self and the atmosphere is the reason that made me want to come here. If you are here for the visuals it's a good place. The food took a while to come out, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it was busy. It took about an hour for ramen. The food it self was unflavored ingredients. Maybe it wasn't my type but I'd rather make instant ramen at home, no disrespect.

Cipareno R.

Yelp
The food was good! And the atmosphere is lovely. I thought it was a little pricey for they food they serve.
google avatar

Phu N.

Yelp
Japanese place but they don't have the hot tea for you not even hot green tea you need to training your waitress back know how your customer wanted my experience the food is good but your service is not good ... people come there to try the food not the place the place look good but the food not good doesn't matter

Holly L.

Yelp
Wow! Wow! Wow! 10 !!! This is the most beautifully decorated Ramen shop I have ever seen. Their honey comb theme is so charming. I got the Omurice with egg and pork katsu with curry sauce on the side! So happy with my choice! The aroma and taste was amazing! And multiple servers came to help us, not just one. Excellent hospitality! Great service! We left there with such a warm feeling! Ty.

Kofi A.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience. The interior is beautiful and the service was speedy. I got the pan fried dumplings and beef skirt skewer, which were both delightful. The sauce that came with the dumplings was really good. Definitely come here if you are in center city.

Ella C.

Yelp
If your restaurant is short-staffed, then hire more employees. There's not even anyone to take orders or answer the phone, what's the point of having the phone on?

Emily W.

Yelp
First time eating at a Kyuramen and I was a huge fan! First off, the decor inside is super cool, with some really fun seating. The food was out of this world, sent me into a major food coma. Absolutely loved the ramen I got (#6). Watching them serve the omurice was a cool experience. I will definitely be returning soon.

Elton D.

Yelp
Just such a soothing experience. Food was great. Ramen was perfect, bbq was a nice addition, and the best of all were the appetizers. Japanese music was a nice complement and the service was excellent. Definitely give this place a try.

William D.

Yelp
Great food nice atmosphere. The music selection was amazing too. Wished they played more zutomayo or ado. The restaurants design looks very clean. Would come again!

狼

Yelp
Amazing collaboration between delicious ramen and flavorful drinks! I have tried many soup based, and this was by far the best I have tried so far. Paired with the perfectly adjusted sweetness of the drinks, the food quality is very satisfying. The service was amazing as well, fast serving food along with positive attitude workers helping you with anything you possible need during your time at the place. The atmosphere was very eye catching, the bee comb table design was very unique and adds a sense of luxury. The taste of music really catches up with the flow of the modern society.

Jeremy L.

Yelp
Food was delicious, service was excellent, and the boba was very good. Unfortunately I didn't win the free meal though.

Yubin L.

Yelp
To begin, the service was amazing. The lad in the pink hair was fun and commented that a soup base that he couldn't handle himself. They also checked in on us, but didn't really remember our waters, but it was fine. The ramens, on the other hand, were flavorful and not too salty, which is the case with many other shops. The atmosphere was calming and the shop looks amazing.

kiersten a.

Yelp
The ambiance and scenery was what originally made me want to come here. But the food was amazing!! I got the yin yang ramen and I highly recommend it. The service was fast and welcoming, and the overall experience was great. I will definitely be back here!

Daniel D.

Yelp
Service was awesome, the meat was the perfect size and texture. I even got a chance to see how they worked their meat. And their server Willy is very special. He gave me a special dish that I will never forget.
