Solid hotel. The best fusion French cuisine. Very close to Unzen Jigoku. Friendly service. Comfortable room but there were not heating and AC was at times not strong enough. Onsen in the room was the most relaxing. The town of Unzen had the demeanor of an alpine town. A must visit in this region of Japan!

Wonderful Stay at Kyushu Hotel – A Hidden Gem My stay at the Kyushu Hotel was nothing short of spectacular. The hotel offers a perfect blend of traditional Japanese charm and modern convenience, making it an ideal place for both relaxation and exploration. The rooms were spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed, offering beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. I loved the comfortable futon bedding and the serene atmosphere that made me feel instantly at ease. One of the highlights of my stay was the incredible hot springs (onsen) experience. The baths were clean, well-maintained, and offered a relaxing retreat with stunning views of nature. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day of sightseeing. The hotel’s restaurant served delicious local cuisine, with a wide variety of fresh ingredients and seasonal dishes. Every meal was a feast, and the staff were very attentive, making the dining experience even more special. Overall, Kyushu Hotel exceeded my expectations with its excellent service, peaceful ambiance, and fantastic amenities. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the region looking for a memorable and authentic Japanese experience.

The hospitality of the hotel is great! Great view from the hotel room, great onsen in room, and the breakfast and dinner are all amazing. The hotel also provides postcard service that you can post your card one year later!

This oversized, soulless concrete block has completely ruined the charm of Unzen, a historically quaint onsen village nestled in a beautiful national park. Instead of blending into the serene, natural landscape, this eco-monster stands as an eyesore, blocking the majestic mountain views and overshadowing the traditional ryokans and small inns that once defined this area. Clearly designed only to cater to busloads of foreign tourists, this hotel disregards the local atmosphere and the delicate balance between tourism and conservation. Instead of embracing the rich cultural and geothermal history of Unzen, it feels more like an airport hotel dropped in the middle of a national treasure. The development of huge hotels like this will only lead to over-tourism, pollution, and a loss of what makes Unzen special. Japan is known for its harmony with nature, but this project is the exact opposite. If you truly care about experiencing the beauty of Unzen, support the small, local ryokans that respect the park and its history. Avoid this corporate behemoth unless you enjoy destroying nature with your tourism dollars.

This hotel is located right in the center of Unzen, a volcanic area. You can see the hot springs from outside your window and from the hotel dining room. It is beautiful inside. Each room has their own (onsen) hot spring bath which they clean each day. Our room faced the mountain. All the rooms include drinks and food. We opted for the breakfast and dinner which was a good decision for us as we did not have a car. The dinner was fabulous and well worth the extra money. The service was impeccable and everyone was super kind.

This is a stunning hotel in a stunning location amidst the fumaroles of Unzen Hells. The property is immaculate. Spacious rooms offer every conceivable comfort - topped by a private onsen on the balcony (fed by those fumaroles). The restaurant offers both Japanese and "Western" menus. Over two nights, we tried both and were blown away by the quality of food. The hotel staff are friendly, relaxed and incredibly attentive.

This is a hotel with excellent service. I originally planned to check in on February 13th and had already made the payment, but when I arrived at the hotel, I realized that I had mistakenly booked for February 14th. I felt very anxious at that time, but fortunately, the hotel manager understood my situation and emotions and unconditionally allowed me to change to an overnight stay, which made me feel that this is a hotel with very warm service. In addition, the room has a spacious view where you can clearly see the panoramic view of Unzen Hell. The sulfur hot springs in the room are of excellent quality. The dinner and breakfast offer a wide variety of options, including Western and Japanese elements, and the taste is delicious. The second floor and rooftop offer complimentary drinks and snacks, making it a place you won't want to leave. After this unforgettable experience, I will definitely stay at this hotel again, which excels in all aspects.

It was the first time for us to travel Unzen and we had a excellent experience in this hotel!!! The location is good, just next to bus stop. That day was a snowy day with thick snow on the ground. It was hard to walk, once we entered the gate, a staff was already waiting for us and helped us to take the luggage. All staff are nice and their english was quite good, including the front desk staff, the staff in restaurant using english to introduce dinner dishes, the man leading us to room and explaining facilities…… The room was clean and tidy, with a terrace for you to relax while looking the view of “ hell of Unsen “. The dinner and breakfast were amazing, good presentation and tasteful! We were so surprised that they wrote “happy honeymoon “ on our dessert (we just mentioned once during the time of booking). It made my day :). The staff was so helpful! Also there was free juice and massage chair on rooftop, we chilled in the indoor rooftop with good view. Free wine and juice for residents in the 2nd floor. The “hell of Unsen” was covered by snow and it was soooooo romantic, love it soooooo much! The outdoor of hotel was closed due to heavy snow, but that’s ok because I definitely will come again :)
