"Pizza and Pasta L'Osteria is known for its lively atmosphere, mouth-watering pizzas and pastas served in modern and urban surroundings. It's timeless classic Italian cuisine. Portions are a good size and the prices are reasonable. As a result it's always full, so make a reservation before going. There are three locations in Munich (see the website below)."

We came early in the day and asked if it was possible to eat with a large group the same day. This was possible. The food came very fast even though we were with so many people (26). The food was amazing, we all had different pizza's and pastas. They were very big, absolutely worth the price. Beside the food was the service very welcoming and friendly. Inside is really beautiful! I really recommend this place, our diner and visit was perfect.

Wait time is a bit but the atmosphere and location is spot on. Its in the middle of the city with a very nice view. There’s inside and outside both options for sitting, both are amazing. I loved the atmosphere. Great place to be with a group but advance reservations is a must as otherwise you will have to wait a lot specially on the weekends.

Google
Although did the reservation, we had to wait about 15min to get seated. The way they get you seated nit pleasant and from first instance you how chaotic they serve customers specially on busy times like lunch on Saturday. We had to wait 15-20min till the waiter comes and gets our order. The food such as Pizza and Pasta are average in big portions. Overall experience is very average, the location is very good though.

I went with my friend to one of my favorite spots in Munich but, unfortunately, we faced racism. Not because of my hijab but because of my language & because of being Albanian. The waiter at @losteria.de was super rude towards us. From the moment he saw us, not greeting us as others usually do. He cleaned the table, throwing all the slaughter at us. Bringing the wrong orders. I was wondering what was going on, but in the end he asked us if we were Albanian. He asked if we were from Mecedonia. As I replied that we were Albanian (from Albania & Kosovo), he thought that we were Macedonian because he was also the same. He just ruined our hours spent with his arrogant behavior in Losteria today.

This was a wonderful surprise to me. Middle of the city, helpful and kind staff, reasonable prices. Authentic experience with a really nice indoor area. The pizzas are HUGE, the drinks are cool, and their coffee is strong (if you wish). We will be back in the future because we haven't felt any time pressure, we had our time to enjoy the atmosphere.

Truly the best pizza in Munich and hands down the best service I’ve experienced. Special thanks to Aris, who went above and beyond for us. He didn’t miss a thing—he made sure every order was perfect and personally double-checked everything himself. Despite how busy the restaurant was and the fact he was moved to different sections, he still helped us with extra orders and even at checkout. Honestly, if I visit again, it won’t just be for the pizza—it’ll be because of Aris! His recommendations were all spot-on and incredibly tasty. We ordered the Margherita pizza (delicious with an amazing marinara sauce), Penne Arrabbiata (nice and spicy with a strong, tasty garlic flavor), and the Gnocchi Gamberetti. Everything was excellent. Also tried the Lapnema drink, which was super refreshing. If you’re in Munich, I can’t recommend this place enough. A must-visit for fantastic Italian food and truly exceptional service!

I want to say THANK YOU for a such a good and pleasant place. Despite the long line at the restaurant, I got to a table quickly. The waiter Bhupinder was very friendly, quickly brought my order (constantly asked how I liked the lasagna). He also brought me a cocktail very quickly and as I wanted, without ice (it often happens that when there is a large flow of visitors, the waiter forgets and brings me a drink with ice). I'm very glad that this time everything went as I wanted. The atmosphere of the restaurant is at a high level, a constant flow of customers, atmospheric music plays and the interior is beautiful. I highly recommend this place especially to those who like me are passing through Munich and don't have much time to see the city. The restaurant is within walking distance from the train station.

Atmosphere is very cool. Pizza is delicious and huge so if you aren't eat too much you can order half portions. People are very kind and good.

Yelp
Sometimes I look at the conglomerate reviews for a place and I question why they're generally low. I try to keep an open mind about a restaurant's purpose, size, cuisine, location etc. to establish a reasonable expectation of service, food and decor. So I felt that for it's purpose, being an Italian restaurant, in the heart of Munich, during Oktoberfest, L'Osteria was hitting! I saw a line when we first got there which made me nervous because we didn't have any reservations. So I quickly made an online reservation on the spot. It didn't end up being needed because the host sat us where we preferred, at a table just inside the establishment but close enough to the outdoor seating to get a little bit of both worlds. We had a nice view of the Famtain [Hotel] building as well as Karlsplatz Square. So it seemed that a 10 min.+ wait was worth it. We immediately got drinks, specifically the Passionfruit Aperal Spritz which was so good. It's the perfect drink after a long day of walking in the heat. We also ordered a pizza, split with Spicy Pepperoni and Chicken Bacon Ranch. I wonder if we were type-cast as Americans when the Chicken Bacon Ranch part was suggested to us. Don't tell them that I told you it was good! We also had the most delicately sliced Carpaccio with just the right amount of parmesan on top. I loved all of it! So listen, for the bad reviews, I don't know what happened. I think the place is solid. You might have to wait a few minutes to be seated but the turnover should be quick enough for you to get a nice spot. If you're visiting the city it's in a nice central location. Keep your expectations reasonable and you should have a great time!

Yelp
Nice space near downtiwn Munich. Busy restaurant but service was good. This is what I would call standard Italian food in Germany. Nothing extrodinary or unqiue, just standard fare. Pasta was ok with a good sized portiin of cheese. Lasagna was piping hot but nothing fancy or unique. Pizzas here are popular, big but thin crust and minimal toppings.

Yelp
I came here for a late lunch. Although service was quite slow (I was seated for 20+ minutes before ordering) it was a quite nice dining experience. There are umbrellas for outdoor seating, and the interior is gorgeous. I got the spaghetti carbonara, which was pretty cheap and high quality. I felt satiated afterwards but not overly full.

Yelp
Yes. This was one of our favorite restraints on our trip. Not only was the service great, the food itself was so fresh and delicious. We had the Quattro formaggi pizza, pesto pasta, bruschetta, and tiramisu and everything was so good! It's a cute spot for a date night or for a quiet evening out. They also do split the pizzas in half to allow for sharing.

Yelp
We just had drinks here. Beautiful inside and outside. Very large, covered outdoor seating area. The inside is French Baroque architecture, done beautifully. The menu is pizza, pasta, and salads (including antipasti). They had a large crowd on a Saturday afternoon, so I'll assume their food is good. Just experiencing the decor was very pleasant.

Yelp
Service ist chaotisch am Abendessen. Lange Wartezeit zur Gerichtsbestellung. Bessere Empfehlung für Mittagessen.

Yelp
Horrible service . Having ANY waitress was a heroic challenge. Lasagne was mediocre The risotto with mushroom was raw . Good location . Bad service. Not recommendable AT ALL

Allison T.

Yelp
Great place for Italian food. The pizzas, pastas and lasagnas are some of the best. The tiramisu is a great end to the meal.

Carter L.

Yelp
Rude staff. Acted very busy when the restaurant was nearly empty. Probably will not return.

Deniz W.

Yelp
It has a bad service, the meal was pretty good but the service was not it. if you want good italian food i would recommend it to you but if you want good service as well, go somewhere else.

Barbara S.

Yelp
Food is pretty good. I had a pasta carbonara and pizza is freshly made delicious but the service OMG takes you more than 30 min to place order waiters just ignore you there is lots of them walking back and forth i get it place is a bit busy but they need to have appropriate staff to service you. Now i have been waiting another 30 min to get the dessert i ordered with my food and hopefully my bill so I don't wait any longer.

Yelp
BBQ Chechen pizza, litro of red wine, mineral wasser and spaghetti Bolognese. So good. Recommended to come here. Able to get in at 6pm. Make reservations if you plan on eating later than 5/6pm. Loving our honeymoon. The food in this county does not disappoint.

Yelp
Went here while on a group vacation for Oktoberfest. Took about 30min to be seated but we were a group of 12 for dinner and it was a busy night. But because of the long wait, the host gave us each a glass of sparkling wine, automatic bonus points. We sat inside, but if it was warmer it would of been great to sit outside, the view of the surrounding buildings is gorgeous! Once we sat down the waiter was very nice and accommodating. The food was delicious and extremely filling. I had the Gnocchi w/ prawn, and although it was delicious my friends tortellini w/ ham was delicious in every part. The pizzas were big & delicious, the white pizza with red onions & some kind of pig on it, lol, was especially delicious. And the chocolate sufle was worth the over eating . Coming from NYC we were extremely surprised that for 12 people (and mostly big hungry guys) and for all we are, the bill was only 192 euros. Love this place! Next time I'm in Munich, I'll have to drop by for dinner.

Yelp
Pizzas are huge!!! But it is thin crust so you could eat more... However they do let you do half the pizza one way and the other half another. So... You can share or just try different kinds of pizza!! I ended up sharing. The menu has a lot of different choices. I chose the veggie pizza with roasted veggies on it. Best choice? Probably not. Veggies were sparse at best. And the variety was something to be desired. The presentation also wasn't the best. It looked like the chef just threw it on with no regard that the veggies were all clumped to one side... Not impressed. The taste was alright. Its thin crust so.... Wait staff here were on point. Very good. Nice decor in the place and very cozy. It seemed like there were a lot of dates going on all around... So must be a good date spot!! Coming back? Maybe, but I might want to explore other places first...

Yelp
This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Europe! The pizza, pasta, and salads were all incredible! The staff was very nice and spoke very good English, which was nice. The prices are fair and I highly recommend stopping in here for a meal if you're in Munich

Yelp
Nothing special. A let down for sure. Slightly busy on a great Sunday night. Started with the Turkey Caesar Salad which was pretty good. Pizza rustica = awful. Flavor wise it was very bland and the tomato sauce was watery. As you cut your slices the cheese comes right off. More is less. The place is huge and tries to accommodate so many types of people and in doing so it fails. For not being very busy the service was mediocre at best with my waiter asking "so where are you from!?" as he brought the check far after I asked for it. Not much to like...

Yelp
A last minute dinner plans on a Saturday evening at 8pm, and we were queued for nearly 45 minutes out the door under a light rain to enter the premises of L'Osteria! As I was unaware of where we were headed to giving me no time to research the pizzeria, I was thinking this must be a promising establishment as it was a full house upon our arrival! Also, we were a party of seven, so that could have added to our queue time. Always visually pleased by interior, I was able to feel the vibe just within the doorways and I was already adapting to the loud trend from the young crowd. As L'Osteria is very famous for their pizza especially as they can be ordered half, mein Liebe wasn't protesting for nothing when I wanted pasta. He insisted on getting a whole pizza with two halves of different toppings, and he was not wrong on persuading me to order half a pizza: C A P R I C C I O S A : Front ham, fresh mushrooms, artichoke, olive, and cheese. It was very yummy, and I would not pass this up if one is to be indecisive! A R U G U L A : Mozzarella, arugula, Italian hard cheese, garlic. A perfect accommodation for diets and restrictions; it was one of our favourites especially with the abundance of rocket salad on top. I am so glad they are partnered with Foodora or Deliveroo as a night in for two wouldn't be nearly as complete without a delivered pizza to cherish x

Yelp
I love pizza and Osteria is my favourite place to go for it. Although, my preferred restaurant is in the Künstlerhaus near Karlsplatz Stachus, on this occasion we were around the Uni (LMU) on Leopoldstrasse and decided to eat there. The pizza never disappoints! My favourite is the Salsiccia Piccante, and I more or less order this every time. But I must warn first time visitors that the pizza is very big, enough for two. Fortunately, if you are there as a couple you can order two different halves, and pay for the pricier pizza. However, it is rather comical when you are there as a regular, and see the waitress bring over two full sized pizzas for two customers. All customers receive bread and oil/balsamico to accompany the food, and we often order a salad to share as a side. The value for money factor is perfect! The Salsiccia Piccante is so thin and crispy, the sauce is spicy and the Salsiccia is very tasty. It is a very delicious pizza! The restaurant has a beautiful seating area outside, which is fantastic when the sun shines. However, be warned that you will probably need to reserve a table during peak times. The only critique from my latest visit was that the salad wasn't as good as previous visits; it seemed a little bland on this occasion.

Yelp
Great place for lunch, the pizza was huge and excellent, also the Insalata Fantasia was tasty. Portions were generous for the prices. Service was a bit slow/inattentive and they seemed like they were "in the weeds" during the busy part of lunch, but I am a New Yorker and am still trying to wrap my head around the European idea of "service". For all I know they brought their A-Game. The kitchen is open, which was cool to see, but the cooks were constantly yelling to the servers and banging the service bell madly when orders came up, which was every minute. Definitely muted the charm of this otherwise great spot.

Yelp
Super packed and a great vibe on the Sunday before Christmas. Lots of happy festive people, including quite a few non-Germans enjoying a late dinner on a cold rainy evening. My wife and I ordered pizza and wine with a friendly server who handled my poor attempt to order in German. Unfortunately the pizza we ordered was not very good. Soggy crusts and lackluster toppings for both the Fungi pizza and Margharita pizza. Too bad as the room was nice. We would likely pass on a second visit.

Yelp
I'm not sure about this place. When I came first time I realy loved it. Maybe because it was during the day, there weren't so many people and waiter had time for me. The other few times I had to wait very long for waiter and than for food. Anyway I must say that pizza is absolutely delicious and it's also realy huge so come hungry. The other food like pasta or salads are not on that high level, they're just fine. I'll propably come here back but only for pizza.

Yelp
We were nearing the end of our amazing German visit and to be honest, was getting a little tired of the standard German fare. I was really looking for general Italian, but all I found seemed so pricey. We ended up coming to L'Osteria and I am so glad! First, the location is just a quick stroll away from the Marianplatz. It is a beautiful restaurant. Very hip feeling and lively. They had a beautiful outside, but I am glad we got the experience inside. The tables are packed together so there isn't a lot of intimate space, but it was really not a problem at all. I went in thinking that I wanted pasta, but as soon as we opened the doors and saw the HUGE pizzas, we knew what we had to get. My boyfriend and I shared a pizza and got half 4 cheese and half spicy sausage. They are not kidding with the sausage; we had to buy water just to finish it- but it was so tasty! The crust is thin and we easily devoured our halves. I saw people eating their own - you probably could if you came in hungry enough and didn't have an appetizer. We also got wine (.5 liters was almost 3 large glasses - we each got our own), and a salad to split. We got the one with orange/mango sauce and beef. The beef tips were cooked wonderfully, though I wish there were more. I saw on some other reviews that they thought the service was rude. That was not my impression at all. They were swamped and probably a little understaffed. Plus the waiters had to navigate 2 or even 3 different languages. If you are looking for an American waiter that can stand and chat, and check back on you many, many times, then I can see how the quickness and seemingly inattention could put you off. Our waitress was friendly and came when we needed her and helped as best as she could with our pizza selection. If you want a change from German food, I would highly suggest.

Yelp
A pleasant location to meet up with friends or to simply have a drink. The space is huge, both inside and out, so it was relatively easy for us (a group of 5) to get a table without too long of a wait (albeit on a Monday evening). The service was alright: had its good and bad moments but nothing unusual. The highlight is their brick oven pizzas. One pizza pie is huge (around 40 cm wide!) yet costs quite cheap (around 8.50 to 10.50 €). Lots of variety and one can mix, either order half a pie or order 2 halves in 1 pie. I chose the latter: 1/2 Vegetariana (mozzarella, garlic, and fresh veg) and 1/2 Salsiccia Picante (spicy salami, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and basil). The pizza was tasty, but it was doused in oil. Definitely not for the waist-conscious eaters. Luckily for me and for my friend, we were able to take our leftover pizzas home and enjoy them the next day.
google avatar

Ali S.

Yelp
Ordered the pizza parmigiana to share for three persons. We also had one insalata di manzo each. The pizza was delicious and perfect for sharing. The salads were big (normal size 9€) but could have had more meat. All in all a nice place for pizza/pasta at a good price!
google avatar

Crom A.

Yelp
Big ass Pizzas!! to eat a giant good tasty Pizza, just go there. for a fair price you don´t need to have dinner after having lunch there... :D Service is not always the best but it´s ok. But sometimes it takes ages for the Pizza to be on the table....

Yelp
The restaurant is awesome - have been there 13 times in 2 years with a lot of international guests. Experience the last two days - no one is picking up the phone independent which time you call. Not acceptable!! Thus for me the last time to go here, but there is other l'osterias around in Munich which are highly recommended as well.

Debra R.

Yelp
The service was as fabulous as the food. We went on a Friday night and there was a line out the door. We were told it was worth the wait and it was! The pizzas were thin crust but HUGE; don't expect to eat one alone! The pasta, salads and pizza were all very good. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Our server, Pia, was outstanding. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Scott K.

Yelp
As has been mentioned in other reviews, the pizza is excellent and is a really good value for both the size and the cost. Being from the US, I would probably like a little more in the quantity of toppings but then again the crust and sauces are great on their own. I stop here once a trip (5-6 times/year) and have never been disappointed. And now they have made it even better - they had pistachios at the bar last night.
google avatar

Tytus C.

Yelp
One of the best pizza I had in Europe. Large size, fresh ingredients and friendly staff that speaks English and is focused on the guest even during busy lunch time. Good experience.
google avatar

Alexander F.

Yelp
There pizza are not only huge but very yummy, one is definetely enough for 2 unless you are reaaaallly hungry.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Huge pizzas ( more than enough to share) and good prices. Could have more toppings on each pizza. Usually you order mushrooms and get only a couple. Same for other toppings.

Mike D.

Yelp
Our waiters shift was over, so he just left ... never bringing our bill. I wanted to just walk out?! who does that?! Idiot. Regardless. Our hotel recommended and said it was the best pizza in Munich. However, we are from Chicago and have different standards. I thought it was just ok. More New York style then Chicago. My wifes pasta was good though.

Sabin P.

Yelp
We wanted to stay outside in the sun. The answer was "it is not possible as it will rain again?!!????!!!!??!!" The sky was clear and blue after the rain that ended 30 minutes before. Clearly a lazy waiter that did not want to clean the table and he is also most likely the Munchen weatherman as he knew it will rain again soon without looking atnthe sky or a phone app at least :))) food is good, the place is cool with a good vibe. However the waiters serving on the terrace (blonde girl and some guy) do not know how to treat customers.
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
Tasty, good portions, reasonnably priced and friendly service.

Zaira P.

Yelp
The location is quite unique. The waiting time without reservation during weekends can be long. Pizza is the best you can order, size is enough for 2 persons. Table space sometimes is not enough if you're in a group due to the plates size.

Qype User (Expati…)

Yelp
This is really a great place to kick back and unwind any time of the day, any day of the week. It's like a piece of Italy in the middle of Munich! They have top notch pizza's, which you can order on two plates and share (zwei auf ein Teller), delicious pasta and gnocchi and desserts to die for. I love that they serve Chinotto. The interior is gorgeous, one part of the restaurant baroque-like with an enormous chandelier, the other part more modern. On sunny days you can enjoy your food and drinks on the terrace.

Review D.

Yelp
You get what you pay for. Paper thin pizza with very bland tomato sauce & no cheese. Very scarce, if any, ingredients. Save yourself and go to Pizza Hut (and I hate pizza hut!)

Teju K.

Yelp
Always a great place for good simple comfort food. Service is friendly and fast. Highly recommend if you are not looking for fancy food.

Qype User (Nicmu…)

Yelp
Certainly the worst eating experience I've had in Munich in a while. Busy Sunday afternoon, completely understaffed. Waited 20 mins after being seated for a server and then another 15 for 2 cokes. Round about an hour by the time the pizza came we shared one and one half was pretty big but the other half was more like a quarter. When we questioned this the waitress admitted that it was a very small half and took it away again. Her colleague brought it back 5 mins later saying it was "normal"that two halves are different sizes. The table in our right waited a good hour too and their starters (which they sent back) arrived in the middle of their main course. The table to our left waited an hour and then were brought something they hasn't ordered. This was taken away and they told the waitress who wanted to take their order again they would wait 10 mins after ordering a pizza but if it wasn't there by then they were leaving. The pizza came twice after about 13 mins. They asked to see a manager who never appeared as long as we were still there. A thoroughly unpleasant experience on the whole. We have eaten at l'osteria in the past and it used to be pretty good but now it's suffering from being too popular. Terrible service, large pizza but with barely any topping and hours of waiting for a table. For a waiter. For the food. I won't be going back.
