This place is cute. As far as the food goes, it was very bland. There is no seasoning at all. I had the brisket burrito it tasted like plain eggs and potatoes with brisket only flavor was the chi-chi's tasting salsa. The brisket was tender but nothing spectacular. The sausage gravy bowl was bland tastes like plain white gravy. Even the potatoes are bland even though they have a coating. The coffee was great. The server could be more attentive. She walked by us numerous times and didn't even greet us. Others were also ignored. She did apologize which was nice. The kitchen staff is another issue. You can see them cooking. Not one person was wearing gloves. One kept touching food and never once washed his hands. When he put on a glove, it was to use a rag, then left it on after handling cleaning products, touched food, then took ot off. Mind you, he still didn't wash his hands. Both items we had were the daily special. The best thing we had was coffee and bacon. I do not know if I will return to try a featured dish. They need to follow better hygiene protocols. The restaurant was the only thing clean. Cute coffee cup selection.

If you’re looking for all day breakfast or lunch, Check out L Street, you won’t be disappointed. The Shrimp and Grits are fabulous. The 10$ soup and sandwich deal changes daily and won’t break the bank. Their Fried chicken is tender and juicy but still crispy and crunchy with a kick. Plus their gravy is made in house and you can tell! Service is always phenomenal, thanks L Street!

Google
Ordered the Biscuits and Chicken, Chicken and waffles, and toast with their homemade jam. The homemade jam was great! The chicken was tender, however the batter on the Chicken was dry. The gravy was good but could use some seasoning. Service was excellent and the restaurant has a nice homey feel to it!

I had steak and eggs meal, and it was enough to feed 2-3 people!!! Steak cooked so well that steak sauce is unnecessary. My server Amber was so kind and unperturbed by my high maintenance, LOL. I like honey, lemon and cinnamon in my tea and she made it happen with a smile 😊.

Google
First time at L Street Kitchen and it was delicious! Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Food had lots of flavor and our coffee never went empty. I had the egg benedict with avocado and chorizo. My friend had the sopes and said they were delicious. We will definitely be back!

Google
Just leaving L Street Kitchen and so extremely pleased with our experience! This was the perfect spot for breakfast— the service, food, atmosphere, vibes, etc. were all 10/10. I got the breakfast tacos and my boyfriend orderee the French toast + eggs bacon. Everything was SO tasty (especially his French toast)! I think our server’s name was Madi— she was so sweet and attentive and made us feel right at home. Thank you! Honestly, this place is a gem while not breaking the bank. Definitely a 5-star spot, it’s worth checking it out!

This was my first time visiting South Bend. Just like most people I enjoy a good breakfast place. This place was a short walk from the hotel I was staying in, which made it perfect. I actually went here all three morning I was in town. To start! The server Karen was absolutely amazing!! Her personality and how on top of everything was fantastic. She was great to talk to an very helpful on exchanging items on the menu. She better be getting paid well. I will definitely come back just for her. The food taste great! No complaints there. Each morning I had something different. If you enjoy chicken and waffles, then this is a place to go. I couldn't even finish mine. The eggs tasted very good and every tasted fresh. The cup of fruit was a great variety an again was fresh! Main complaint. The price for a cup of coffee! It is a cup of normal coffee. Nothing special lol. So I feel they should lower the price by .50 to $1. Don't get me wrong Karen had my cup filled every second. I don't think my cup ever got to half full before she added more. Again Karen was fantastic! Even with the traditional breakfast I feel like it could be lowered a $1 to $2. But I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that is in the area.

I don’t think I need to urge more people to go here, it had steady business and we had a 30 minute wait for a table of +4 people. That’s not a knock, just the way it is, there’s plenty of turns for 2, 4 top and counter seating. The menu has a nice variety and the food is good. I had the Brisket Breakfast Burrito which was stuffed, I mean STUFFED with an entire breakfast in a tortilla. The brisket was flavorful and added to the dish, if it’s used elsewhere on the menu, I’d encourage the option. I also had a side of Biscuits and Gravy. The gravy is homemade, does not seem to be out of a bag but made in house with the breakfast sausage they use. Breakfast hit the spot and I was good until a light dinner.

Yelp
Always a great spot for breakfast! We stopped in on our way to vote this morning and while there a wait, we were able to grab a spot at the bar. The hubby opted for one of the specials - a sausage gravy bowl loaded with fried potatoes, sausage gravy and two over easy eggs. I got the southwest omelette loaded with ham, peppers and onion which came with potatoes (crispy, fried goodness) and toast with their homemade jam. The only disappointment was the one tiny piece of unripe avocado.

Yelp
Thanks to L Street Kitchen for a good dining experience! Friendly, efficient service, bright and welcoming decor, and yummy food! Our favorites were the Greek Salad and the pulled pork sandwich! We are looking forward to eating there again!

Yelp
This is my favorite breakfast/brunch spot in town. I have yet to eat something I don't like here and their food is always consistent. They're gluten free friendly by having gluten free toast which I appreciate too. The wait staff is always very friendly and create a very warm atmosphere. Everytime I've taken someone here with me to show them how good it is they come out loving it. I can't recommend L Street enough!

Yelp
Day after thanksgiving we took our family of 12. Including 4 grandchildren 2-9 to breakfast. Service was friendly and timely. Everyone enjoyed their meals ranging from vegetarian to Country Eggs Benedict. The staff's speed and attentiveness was impressive.

Yelp
What a hip little breakfast/lunch joint! Happened upon this spot thanks to Yelp on my way home from visiting a friend. I parked on the street and was able to score a seat at the counter right away. The place was bustling, and I knew as soon as I sat down that it was going to be a great brunch! I faced the grill area, and the two fellows working were hopping. I was attended to by a laid back and friendly waitress who served me coffee right away. It was fresh, hot and I enjoyed the roast. I chose the L Street's version of huevos rancheros (minus chorizo) with crispy potatoes which was served after a very short wait. I liked their concept; it was quite fresh and the over easy eggs were cooked perfectly to my liking. Hit the restroom before I left, which was clean and full of quirky stickers (I wasn't surprised). I had a really nice meal here, the service was excellent and the ambiance made me feel just a bit cooler...at least for the time I was there!

Yelp
Well.... this has been our favorite breakfast spot for quite some time; tonight we went for dinner and all I can say is "Wow!". Give this place a chance! the service was excellent and the food had us all talking about how great it was. There were four of us and we ordered a to-go meal for a kid at home. Loved every bite and then some.

Yelp
For my first time in South Bend, my friend decided to take us all to brunch at L Street, and I was so happy with the homestyle and relaxed atmosphere at this location! Service was great and quick, and this seems like a lovely little neighborhood brunch/lunch place! My friends and I all decided to do breakfast this time around. Coffee was flowing in cute random mugs. Two of us got the breakfast burrito (one with avocado and one was chorizo). Both were good and hit the spot, but I do enjoy a bit more from my breakfast burritos: overall, good but not my favorite ever. They also had breakfast tacos which looked amazing and they were eaten super quickly... So I have to assume they were also amazing. The standard plate and the meat omelette came with homemade jam, which is a fun addition! Service was quick and great - - definitely a place where your server is your friend by the end of brunch! Thanks, L Street for a fun (and filling!) meal!

Yelp
Was invited to breakfast from a buddy of mine who lives in the area and I proceeded to eat there the next 3 mornings. The Chicken and Waffles and the Chicken and Biscuit are particular good. Fantastic food/menu and it's family owned. Highly recommend this spot! Will return again when I'm in South Bend.

Yelp
Clean and cute restaurant. I think they serve breakfast and lunch. Found this place on Yelp. Friendly service, fair prices, clean, good food. Nice looking menu options. Husband ordered the meat lovers breakfast hash and he ate every bit of it. A little salty but overall he enjoyed it. I had the avocado toast with a poached egg and a side of banana bread. I would go back.

Cindy B.

Yelp
Amazing food! Super cool atmosphere with friendly people! I love coming to visit South Bend and discovering local gems like this! We had breakfast but lunch looks amazing too!

Yelp
What a great j of a place in downtown south bend. My wife ordered the shrimp and grits. Wow 5 out of 5 starts. I don t like grits and these are amazing. I ordered the smoked brisket hash. It was great. The brisket has a mild smoke flavor. I would have liked it to be more Smokey but that is me. The flavor was amazing. The home made biscuits are flakier and super buttery. The coffee is from a local roaster named Zen Coffee it's worth the trip here.

Danielle S.

Yelp
Service, food, and atmosphere was great! We were visiting from Florida and so glad we found this little hidden gem. Highly recommend. Portions are HUGE!

Yelp
We haven't been to South Bend in a few years. My parents, wife, son and I stopped in for brunch on Sunday after cruising the Leeper Park Art Fair. My wife said there was a queue for brunch, but we just went anyway and decided we can always go somewhere else. There were three tables full or so, maybe eight people eating. It did fill up quickly while we there. It's small, cute, kind of a typical quirky brunch type spot with mismatching chairs and whatnot. The service was good. Not great. Not a fan of warm water with my meal. I had the veggie hash, eggs over easy and sourdough toast. The toast was bad. It reminded me of store bought sandwich style sourdough, thin and dense. It was toasted to an inch of it's life and crispy. One egg was perfect and the other wasn't. Not a big deal. The hash had some great vegetables, all finely chopped in proportion. They were all cooked perfectly and the potatoes were cooked well. There just wasn't much flavor. Where did the flavor go? Overall everyone felt everything was under seasoned. Frank's Red Hot is on the table.

Yelp
Headed home from a weekend getaway and we spotted this little gem. Quaint and cozy describes this little diner. All the chairs are different, the kinds from your ol' grandmas house, as well as the coffee mugs. I sipped out of Margaret's Florida novelty mug. Staff was friendly and helpful with all the suggestions. Our waitress, Amber, was so sweet and recommended the jam and biscuit; both homemade and delicious. The jam was so tasty and had a bright profile, but could have been a little thicker. I got the breakfast sandwich with a delicious and warm brioche bun. Generous avocado with a lovely garlic aioli. I loved how crispy their home fries were. My partner said the Cuban was one of his favorites lately. It was succulent and a perfectly proportioned bite. Fries were solid. We enjoyed this nearly hidden diner. Cheap for the quality.

Yelp
Meg, Anne & the crew here make you feel like family the moment you walk in the door. Nevermind that she and I both grew up in NY. Also nevermind that we both went to Hofstra. The food, the feel, the friendly staff... the coffee cups!! This place is the best comfort food breakfast, brunch, lunch around. Cocktails, coffee and clever approach to service. Thank you, Meg & team. We will be back.

Kya K.

Yelp
Excellent food service would recommend to Other people and ambiance was nice and quiet

Yelp
Cool place that serves brunch and lunch items. Great menu choices. Quaint kitchen style restaurant where you can see everything being prepared. Friendly service.

Yelp
Attempting this place for the first time, and it was so great. My server Karen was very welcoming and very attentive. She was one of the best servers I have ever had over the years of dining out. I ordered the chicken and biscuits with gravy and it was so delicious. Highly recommend this place!!

Susan M.

Yelp
Love their ever present French Onion soup - even as a brunch appetizer :) Their menu and specials are always delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
Went her Saturday and loved the atmosphere! Grill top out in the open, the smell of fresh local coffee wafting around were a great site to see and smell. The menu was simple but plenty of things to try and I went with the breakfast tacos with scrambled eggs and sausage with fried potato chunks! It was really good I got 3 soft corn shells filled to the brim!

Yelp
It was quite fortunate for us to get a breakfast/brunch taste of L-street kitchen before it transforms to Roselily. We went in quite early on Sunday morning, only a few people and the service is quick and good. We ordered a southwest omelette and a meat lovers hash. They are both flavorful and delicious. The inner decorations were also very unique and welcoming. I wish I could have more opportunities to dine in here. Thank you!
google avatar

Jim G.

Yelp
Nice breakfast spot in downtown SB. I dig the open kitchen. Nice variety on the menu between traditional and Mexican breakfast options. The tacos, French toast, and grits were all very good, as was the service. The waffle was just ok, not crisp enough for me.
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
Great food, good coffee and excellent service! Small but mighty, while other downtown restaurants have long waits this is the real deal!
google avatar

Cora M.

Yelp
to my scrambled egg people--these are not the eggs you want. overcooked on multiple occasions benedicts are generally good, but the sopes one was like cutting through a shoe sole BLT is delish

Bradley M.

Yelp
Had the breakfast burrito and the eggs were undercooked, the bacon was low quality and undercooked, and the hot sauce seemed like tomato based paste. There was no side to it. It's a diner and the staff was nice but not a fit for me. Others like it so give it a shot but for a breakfast burrito snob I would get it again.

Yelp
L Street is located in the heart of downtown South Bend. The place has one of those triple D' (Diners, Drive ins & Dives) type feel about it. I visited on a Sunday morning arriving about 10:30. I had to wait 2-3 minutes for a table which was not a big deal. The place was busy, but didn't seem ridiculously so. I was given a menu and had to wait about 5 minutes for the server to return. Again, not a big deal just kind of rolled with it. I then proceeded to wait 55 minutes for what was supposed to be my order of scrambled eggs, bacon, potato & toast. After that amount of time, you guessed it still no food. The server saw me taking cash out of my wallet to leave at the table to pay for my soda. Her response was to inquire if the kitchen should cancel my order. Uh, yes ma'am I'm out. The first time I've ever left a place after placing an order.
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
Finally I stopped in and wow... what a treat! After voting at the City-County building, I decided to treat myself to breakfast as the amazing smells coming from L Street couldn't be ignored. A friendly server greeted me right away and said to sit anywhere I'd like. She asked if I wanted coffee and I said yes without even knowing it was from Zen Cafe. Bonus! The server offered a few new options on the menu once I shared that it was my first visit. I decided on the Breakfast Sopes with chorizo, avocado and poached eggs. Incredibly delicious and I ate every bite! I highly recommend this stop and see the pics of my food and drink.

Yelp
This was my first time at L Street Kitchen. I was impressed with everything, We were greeted by friendly people when we walked in and we were seated and served immediately. Everything tasted farm fresh, the coffee was good, especially for a 'diner', and prices were very reasonable. The restaurant had a nice vibe to it!! I will definitely make this my go to breakfast spot whenever I am in town!

Mila B.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Delicious food, friendly staff, and amazing owners. Went to brunch with some girlfriends and we had a blast!! Definitely returning!

Yelp
Great little Restaurant with a counter top and stools, and table seating. Menu is limited to breakfast and lunch, with a good spread of choices. Coffee is from a local roaster and is very good. Staff is friendly and takes care of you well. My Han and Cheese omelet was huge with a large portion of ham. I will visit again and would recommend this little gem to anyone looking for a great meal.

Yelp
I stopped in LSK after reading all of the great reviews. Even after all of the praise, I wasn't prepared for how good it was. I had the shrimp Po boy and my fiancé ordered the crab cakes Benedict. Neither options are your typical Midwest dish, so to see them on the menu was a surprise. But the actual food itself... MIND BLOWN! That po boy is the best I've had. Not the best I've had in the Midwest, the best I've had , period. It was a twist on an old fave that packed a lot of punch. The giadinera really set it apart. The crab cakes were moist and flavorful. But they are a special so if you see them, order immediately. The awesome thing about L Street is that owner, Mike, wants you to feel like family. He told me that's the reason for the open kitchen concept. It is definitely working. I've been twice and already met his wife Meg. They are so friendly. Pro tip: if you show your Yelp review, you get a free drink! Mike makes these amazing pies. Check them on Instagram to see what the specials and pie of the day are!

Yelp
Great food for breakfast. It was our first day in South Bend. My daughter and I had the breakfast tacos, while the rest of the party had pancakes, burrito, and an egg with cheese sandwich. The coffee was excellent.

Kristen R.

Yelp
Food is nothing too special, but tasty diner- type food in downtown South Bend. We ate here after going to the excellent Brain Lair books.
google avatar

Shannan V.

Yelp
Damn this place is good! Better than expected, and frankly, the best breakfast I've had in South Bend. Their hollandaise = liquid culinary gold. That and the biscuits under the Country Style Benny are made-from-scratch and will certainly rock-your-world. I've also tried the breakfast wrap, which was a delicious, above average choice for a quick breakfast on the drive to work. HOT TIPS: 1. Parking is extremely limited on the street, which seems like the only option, but I just found out from one of their waitresses that there is a little parking lot in the back with old signed marked 'no parking' that you can actually park at no problem, without worry of a ticket/tow. They have an understanding with the building owner I believe. 2. For diner, L Street is renting out their space to a KILLER pop up restaurant called Bantam. They're cooking up some next level stuff too. I highly recommend both of these restaurants.

Patty C.

Yelp
The restaurant is located right across from county-city building; it's just a small place but it is definitely worth visiting. I had chorizo and egg breakfast tacos (3) and potatoes. I had the option of sausage, bacon, or chorizo. It was absolutely delicious and only $10. Everything seemed to be pretty good prices and the employees were wonderful. I drink lots of water and they bring an ice cold carafe of water, which was a bonus for me. The parking is limited due to being downtown, yet you need to eat here. I will positively return to try something else.
google avatar

Lena G.

Yelp
I came here with five of my friends on a weekend. There was a short wait, but very much worth it. The restaurant is has an intimate and local feel to it with friendly and attentive staff. I was first impressed with the prices - without even trying the food. But the menu did not disappoint. At a table of six different dishes ordered, every single one was great. The only menu item that may require a bit more culinary crafting is the avocado toast. I had the breakfast tacos and they were very tasty. This restaurant does not necessarily stand out to the "instagram aesthetic" seeking consumer when looking at it online, but it is very much worth the visit because it delivers on every level. I will definitely return the next time I am in town.

Yelp
Wonderful new family owned restaurant in South Bend! We got the chicken & waffles and Sopes. Both were delicious! I've never had Sopes before and loved every bite of it. Coffee was delicious too :) Definitely recommend!

Sharlene L.

Yelp
It was our first time here and it definitely won't be our last. The service was excellent. The ambiance was down home comfortable. And the food was DELICIOUS! My husband enjoyed the smoked brisket hash breakfast and I enjoyed the burrito with avocado. Be sure to bring your appetite because portions are ample! The Cloud Walking coffee, which is a local brew rounded out our awesome meal. Kudos to the chefs and staff!! "We'll be back."

Yelp
We were just in town for a short weekend stay and were looking for a local place for breakfast. We came across The L Street Kitchen on Yelp and decided to give it a try and really found a gem. The food is delicious, cooked to order, plentiful and lots of options with daily specials. Top that off with a friendly staff and great service and I can't imagine there's a way to be disappointed. I know the next time we're in the area we'll be back.

Tonya H.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Piping hot. Stuffed full omelet. My husband had the meat lovers hash...delicious. Coffee good and hot. Staff was kind and kept the hot coffee coming. Highly recommend.
google avatar

McNeal U.

Yelp
This 6 egg omelette was really tasty. I was very impressed by the flavor of it. All the sautéed veggies and the bacon just blew my mind. Would definitely get this again.

Suzanne K.

Yelp
Not much to look at from the outside, but it serves up the Best breakfast in South Bend! The eggs were delicious, the breakfast potatoes were perfect, and the raisin toast was like dessert. I highly recommend this place on or after ND game day.
google avatar

Yelp
Website, Yelp and the sign on the door says open till two. We drove out of our way to have lunch here and we got there around 1:35 and all the chairs were up in the tables and someone was mopping. I opened the door and was just ignored.

Yelp
We have been to L street 4 times now. I can honestly say we jave recieved good service and predictably great food every time. This morning for breakfast I tried a vegan bowl with avocado, zuccini, mushrooms, red bell pepper, potatoes, spinach and quinoa. I am not vegan, but I am trying to eat a little healthier- and my breakfast at L street this morning was really wonderful. Thank you L Street for raising the bar in South Bend.

David S.

Yelp
This is my favorite breakfast restaurant. Menu has some great choices. Breakfast tacos and chicken & waffles were amazing. I highly recommended this place.
google avatar

Lia H.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast at a very good price. My mother had taken me once before, and I had the chicken and waffles. The chicken is light and crispy, with a nice hot syrup to top the whole thing off. My mother and brother went out of town recently, so I had the opportunity to chill with my dad. He's involved in the yelp community, and so we like to try and review new spots together. I took him here and he loved it! I got sopas, which were fresh and bursting with avocado, queso fresca and cilantro. My father got the country breakfast, which is a poached egg nestled atop a juicy stack of pulled pork. We loved it all! The staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the food is absolutely wonderful. Will be coming back again!!
google avatar

Matthew R.

Yelp
Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. 5/5 for customer service. My group all ordered the Ruben sandwich. The sandwiches were phenomenal. 5/5 Restaurant was VERY clean and welcoming. Its not much from the outside but the inside provided a great atmosphere. The next time I am in town I will definitely check this place out again. The prices were very reasonable as well.

Yelp
Oh my what a happy find. Wishing there were more than 5-stars to award this wonderful establishment. Location is right downtown, easy to get to. Place is cool, hip and a bit hippy. Staff were wonderfully attentive and efficient. Food was-well, really amazing. Breakfast burrito was delicious and not at all greasy. Chick and biscuits were the best ever found north of Kansas City. Yumm wished I lived nearby

Yelp
First time diner here this morning and unfortunately I was disappointed in my breakfast. I ordered the breakfast tacos which the menu describes comes with "Scrambled eggs, choice of breakfast meat or potatoes, salsa verde, queso fresco, avocado aioli." My tacos had eggs and meat, that's it. When I questioned the waitress, she brought only red Salsa which basically has no flavor. She didn't seem to know the menu or care to. Otherwise she was nice and friendly and the potatoes were delicious, would probably come back for those so that's why it still got three stars.
