LA Art Tours

Really glad I found and did this tour and discovered amazing murals and street art! The whole neighborhood is full of murals and the tour only gives time to see a fraction of them so the tour serves as a great introduction. Really enjoyed the tour, however the guide seemed a bit stressed and didn't provide a proper introduction to the space and the tour itself, giving rise to strange/unnecessary questions from participants... There could also have been more focus and commentary on graffiti rather than just focusing on muralists. Nonetheless, I warmly recommend this tour for its high value for money, an expert guide, and world class art work!

Unique survey and interpretive bike/walk viewing street art, primarily murals. "Nuke" was a great interpreter, ask for him. Doable walking, but best by bike. Bring your own or rent a metro bike stand near the Urth Cafe start point.

I just went on the graffiti art tour with Galo on a rainy day in Los Angeles. He was the perfect guide, an experienced graffiti artist, knowledgeable, articulate, and very funny. He explained the symbolism, the history, the inner workings of the world of street art and graffiti in such a helpful and engaging way that I want to sign up for any future art tour he's leading. I've viewed street art and graffiti in Paris and New York, but this was the first time I was invited in to the meaning of the entire genre. I was so impressed with the talent and ingenuity of the artists, and have Galo to thank for a totally fabulous experience.

It was such a great experience! We did the graffiti bike tour as a family of five and it was the highlight of our time in LA! Such a great way to see a little of LA and its impressive street art history.

We had a fabulous experience with Sergio, introducing us to the beauty and sophistication of what people call graffiti. He explained to us that it is much more than what we commonly assume. It is a whole language amongst artists to communicate their love of art and community. With many personal stories and historical perspectives Sergio made graffiti accessible. Highly recommended.

We did the street art tour with Kevin as our guide and it was excellent. Kevin was incredibly knowledgeable about the street art, the characters behind it and the history of the area. All of this made for a very engaging tour.We loved the street art and saw lots of different mediums. The tour is also excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

Our party of 3 did the walking street art tour, which took us around the Arts District in DTLA. Our guide Shandu was great, very knowledgeable and friendly. It was very interesting to learn about his experience and the history of street art in LA, and the street art itself was great.

Our LA Street Art Tour was absolutely amazing. Our guide Sergio conveyed so much history, cultural background, street art technique, and street art information, all in a great conversational style. He was cool, kind, and open to questions - just al all-around great person. Definitely take this tour if you are looking for fantastic information, cool art, and just an eye-opening look at some of the art in the Arts District. We also added-on a spray can workshop, which was also amazing. It was fun for our students to use some of the techniques Sergio had discussed in their own attempts at street art style. In addition to Sergio, ShanduOne showed up to help out with supplies and guidance. A+, Five Stars! If you're thinking of doing this street art tour, just do it!

Absolutely shocked and amazed by the amount of knowledge guide has. Incredible couple of hours full of laughter, learning and soaking in culture and history of Los Angeles. Highly recommend this tour to both locals and tourist.

Amazing tour. Our guide, Hector (ShanduOne) was terrific. Knowledgeable, thoughtful, fun and funny, with incredible depth, he shared his experiences and passion as a graffiti and street artist, the history and culture, and the varying techniques. As a working artist and teacher, he shared his own work and works of friends and others along the tour. I've been on similar street art and graffiti tours in other cities in the US and internationally, and this one was the best, hands down!

What an interesting and fun tour. The guide, Sergio (crg) was an artist himself and had a few pieces along the tour. He was very knowledgeable about the history of graffiti art and the various styles, where they come from etc. He took us to a gallery that featured artists that had street murals. He was also very personable and funny. He answered all questions, took time to explain various murals. I cannot recommend this tour enough especially if you want to do something that's not typically L.A.

Forget the Getty and Norton Simon...at least until after you've taken the LA Art Tour deep in downtown Los Angeles. An easy but stimulating two-and-a-half hour stroll with Artist Kevin Flint, who seemed to know every artist and story behind his or her work. Not only is he a human encyclopedia on "urban art," our guide's deep passion for the subject was highly contagious. Only Kevin could make (the letters) "HOOK" on a telephone pole fascinating. Though I may still not love all graffiti, I now can at least appreciate it. Can't wait to take the bicycle tour!

Can you give 6 stars? We completely enjoyed our tour. Our guide (Shandu One) is an artist. In addition to showing us interesting murals, he explained some of the techniques used to create murals and shared artist and area history/facts. The tour exceeded our expectations.

I did a private LA Art Tour for my birthday party and it was incredible! We did the LA Brewery Loft tour. Our guide was Kevin Flint, an artist who lives in the incredible lofts. He took us to meet with 6 different artists over 2 & half hours. He also walked us around the complex, gave us history, and showed us their art gallery in the annex. We got to spend 10-20 minutes with each artist, who welcomed us into their home, talked about themselves, their art, their process, and answered our questions. My group of friends absolutely loved the tour, and not one of us had been to the Brewery Loft before. This was a very fun and unique birthday, and I highly recommend this company and working with Kevin!

Took my husband and kids for a surprise tour of the LA art district. We were lucky enough to have Galo as our guide! He was very knowledgeable about every piece, the history behind it, and the artists! He interacted with the kids so much which made me realize he wasn't just trying to get through the day, he's truly passionate about the culture and sharing knowledge. This was a really cool experience and will definitely be back!

I was searching around Eventbrite in hopes of getting my art fix this weekend hand happened upon this tour of street art (and graffiti in Los Angeles). I don't know much about it, but love looking at it in the cities I've traveled too. I have never seen much in LA though, so this was a treat. Galo was the guide and he was very engaging and at home with the art. I hope to get to LA sometime and take the tour in person!

Just came across their virtual Graffiti Tour led by Galo and Majella today. Informative. Beautiful and fascinating highlights. All conducted during a live stream following Galo as he walks around pointing out interesting graffiti and street art.

Best art tour I've ever been on, despite having been on many different art tours around the world. We did the street art/graffiti tour. My wife, 11-year-old and I came up from San Diego to do this. Sergio was our guide and, like other comments, his depth of knowledge, passion for the subject, fact that he's lived this world for decades,takes great pride in his block, wants to share and is a great story teller all blend to make the secret sauce. We all enjoyed it and have much newfound respect (thx to Sergio) for these guys and the artists who pursue this craft.

We went on a fantastic walking tour with Abel (formerly known as Galo) and really just had a great time! We lucked out and basically had a private tour with him. He gave such a great overview of the history of the art, the skills and techniques, the history of the area and the LA scene, and so much more. Abel was super interesting and engaging and passionate. We enjoyed ourselves immensely!! Absolutely can't wait to go on another one of their tours with some other friends.

I was a little nervous that this would just be a Instagram-bait tour, but was really inspired by how authentic and deep everything was. Galo is a great guide - you can definitely see how much of an OG he is, and the passion he has for the subject runs deeper than just technical and aesthetic, it's also historical, socially-aware and he's got lots of fun opinions just bubbling below the surface on this rapidly-changing world. The art is really amazing too - you get a sense of just how hard it is to do, and the fact that it's always changing is a reason to go again and again. And even if art isn't your thing, the history and perspective into this sub-culture is really interesting. Also 95% family-friendly, with the exception of a bare boob. Bring good shoes for walking, water, and sunglasses. Watch out for cars. Tour prices go down if you book larger groups. Well-worth the price, I'm planning to do it again.

Great tour! Amazing art! If you want to discover and learn about Graffiti History art than this tour is for you! Make sure you wear comfortable sneakers because you are going to do lots of walking some people on the tour could not keep up so be ready to walk about 2 hours they will take little break but overall be prepared take snacks bring bottled water you will burn off lots of calories on this tour! We did the bicycling tour 2 years ago and recently booked a private walking tour with out-of-town guests. Once again we had Kevin as our guide and he did an outstanding job. Each tour went different directions, so there was no overlap. Kevin is a local artist, engaged in the graffiti art world-he knows the art, the artists, the back stories, the hidden gems, and shares all of them with you. Highly recommended!!

We had a wonderful, eye opening tour today with Galo. Started at a brewery with a flight and then moved through an enlightening art tour of graffiti and street art ending with another brewery. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to understand the history of the arts district and its evolution. Thankyou Galo!

Shandu was our guide today and he was very personable and knowledgeable. We learned so much and had a great time; I'm so glad we explored this nearby section of LA! I highly recommend this tour- our two boys, ages 14 and 11, also really enjoyed learning about street art, tagging, biting, bombing, racking, and slaps! We brought Grandma, too, and she said it was one of the best tours she's ever taken!

A truly authentic experience with an informative guide, Galo. We loved seeing all the art, and hearing the history behind most of the pieces. This was an educational tour that took us onto the streets of LA. We got a glimpse of living on the edge for a second by jaywalking and hearing first-hand experiences from our guide. We did lose our group halfway, because we went to the bathroom, so our tour was not completed. In the end my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed this gift...thank you!

Loved this information filled, historic tour of the downtown LA graffiti scene. We LOVED our guide Galo (not the wine) and loved the tour, the history, the information, the ART! Fabulous!

Well thought out tour. Plenty of time to sample 4 different beers at each of the 3 locations with an explanation of each brew. Additional time to get a full pint to enjoy. We also got a tour of one of the breweries. Learned about the Urban Art of the area...history, different styles and artist. Highly recommend! Thanks Chris & Kevin! I had a bike tour scheduled and they cancelled it due to impending rain. They did send an email the night before and offered a walking tour and/or refund which was lovely. It didn't end up raining at that time, sadly.

we booked a private walking tour to check out the mural/sticker/graffiti in the arts district. kevin was great - he pointed out so many things we would've missed if we'd been wandering around on our own. i loved hearing about the history of the area & hearing about some of the details in the work we were looking at (eg., the eggs are from a reviewer who spraypaints an egg by pieces of work that they like). highly recommended.

Galo was our guide as our chaplain team from LAC USC took a team day that included this amazing tour. Once we got walking--it was such a blessing to have Galo with his love of the art and knowledge of history guiding us. Clearly an experience that I hope to repeat with other family and colleagues. The team day was a blessing. Galo social commentary and social consciousness was deeply appreciated in the context of history and LA gentrification merging with homeless reality, local artists, economy, racial injustice and so much more. It was great to end the experience walking to Zinc. It was amazing 2 hours. Thanks to Kevin at LA Art Tours for making this happen for us and so many other. My 14 year old niece and I enjoyed the Graffiti /Street Art tour on August 12, 2016! Our tour guide was Galo. Galo was very knowledgeable about the various artists and the artistic techniques! There is walking involved. Definitely wear sneakers and comfortable clothing!

Excellent tour given by Galo. Informative and fun! For a basic admirer of graffiti and street art, this gave me a great perspective on technique, content, and medium. We learned a lot about the neighborhood and its history and adoption of the burgeoning art scene.

Downtown LA Arts District Graffiti Tour: Excellent tour. You get great street art, insight into the artists and craft, and a nice walk on top of that. Galo was the tour guide and he knows his stuff. He's been doing graffiti since he was 15. Tons of knowledge about the area, the artists, the styles used in the art. A great guide to have while seeing awesome street art.

My friend and I had an amazing tour given by Galo. One thing that personally made the tour more special for me was the fact that Galo is an artist himself. He shares with you an intimate perspective of what these art pieces represent. And the struggles that these artists have to sometimes go through. I also appreciate that Galo had an opinion and was unafraid to share it. Makes the tour a lot more interesting! I enjoyed the tour so much I went back for another given by Nuke!

I took a photographer friend who was visiting from Italy and we both LOVED this tour. Our tour guide was @shanduone and not only did he take us to see some exceptional work, but he gave us the most interesting history, sociology and anthropology lesson ever. He covered all aspects of the past 30+ years of street art and shed a whole new light on graffiti, complete with distinction between vandalism and art. I command him for his honesty and his candor as well as his patience and knowledge. Whether you are visiting or you are a local, I highly recommend this tour, especially since it's so affordable!

During the COVID-19 crisis, LA Art Tours is generously hosting virtual tours. I attended Galo and Majella's "Arts District Graffiti and Mural Tour," which is a great way to spend 80 minutes while sheltering at home. Over the past few months, I've done several virtual tours given by various tour guides, museums, national parks, etc., and this tour was one of my favorites. Galo is a terrific host. I just emailed several friends to recommend this tour. I will certainly join future virtual events as LA Art Tours brings new virtual tours online. I look forward to attending LA Art Tours in-person after the pandemic. Thank you! Highly recommended.

I have lived in Los Angeles all my life and never knew how much I could find out in a graffiti tour. Galo was our guide and he was great. The tour began a little late as we were waiting for a half of the guest due to a last minute event in the area. The tour was two miles and even though it was a hot day, Galo made it very informative and entertaining. Galo knew more than just the history of the art but the history of the area which brought the tour to life. I would highly recommend this tour.

What a cool experience! Totally different side of LA. Hector was our guide- super knowledgeable and shared some really interesting history and background to the graffiti and art mural culture around the state. This was such a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon! Our guides Galo and Fitz were super knowledgeable about beer (Fitz) and art (Galo). It was especially interesting to hear the perspective of Galo, as he's lived in this graffiti street scene for a long time. It was great to have the option to split the beers on the tour as well. Highly recommend it!

One of the best things to do in LA! This tour was amazing. Our guide, Hector, has been a street artist sine 1984 and his love of his art really shined through doing the tour. He was knowledgeable and funny. I had no idea what we would do for 2.5 hours, but the time flew buy. This is a tour that will exceed your expectations and one that you will want to take it again every year. If I could give it 10 stars I would!

Galo gave us the most amazing detailed tour and instruction about graffiti and street art. I can't imagine how he could have done any better than he did. Very entertaining and knowledgeable.

I've been living in LA for almost 10 years now and never thought to take an art tour. Very happy to have learned about the history of Arts District through the street and graffiti art. Our tour guide, Galo, packed the two hours with a ton of interesting and relevant information about the neighborhood. Would definitely recommend him.

This was a really interesting and entertaining tour of a part of LA's graffiti and muralists! There were about 16 people in our group. Kevin was our guide (because the originally scheduled guide managed to get pepper sprayed the night before). It was 2-1/2 hour walking tour- not at all strenuous as much time spent standing. Wear comfortable shoes, bring water (there is a potty break at halfway point) and wear sunscreen. Highly recommended and an amazing deal at $12/person.

Galo brought the vision of graffiti and street artists to life in a fascinating 2hr tour. Many hidden treasures we would have not experienced on our own. I brought my out of town relatives and we all loved it. Thanks galo!!!

There are many things to do in LA but this art walking tour is one of the unique, intimate, and honest experiences of the city. Our guide, graffiti artist Galo captivated us with his poetic first-hand accounts of the LA street art scene, techniques and practices, and his passionate arguments on mural vs graffiti. The works Galo selected to highlight were reflective of the rich, complex and nuanced cultural layers of the city. One of the best ways to support and show respect to the local artists!!!

We booked this tour for our friend's birthday and it was a day we will never forget. We learned so much from our guide Galo- who's insight into the graffiti world was invaluable to our experience. The depth and breadth of his knowledge exceeded our expectations. When we met up with our other amazing instructor Kevin- we knew we were going to have fun. Kevin and Galo made a great team and taught us a few things about how to construct letters with spray paint and then set us out to show our stuff. We had such a great time creating our masterpieces. I can not recommend this tour more. I Galo.

Highly recommend this tour. The guide was excellent at explaining the graffiti arts movement and it's evolution. I can't believe how much information he shared and didn't tire. It was a lot of fun and informative. There's not much walking involved but so much art packed into a few blocks.

I do not recommend. Tour is described as going to Hauser and Wirth, which is open. The tour of the Dtla Arts District was boring. It did not go where described. It was lead by a street artist who talked a lot about his art.
