"Algerians constitute one of the largest groups of immigrants in Paris, but their cuisine was disproportionately underrepresented in the city until the late ‘90s, when two Algerian immigrants opened this shop selling the sweets of their homeland. Today, La Bague de Kenza is the go-to for Algerian-style sweets in Paris, with three branches across the city. The name translates as “Kenza’s Ring,” and the largest outlet, in the 11th arrondissement, could practically be mistaken for a jewelry store: a brightly lit display of pastel colors and shapes that unites golden honey, rich nuts, chewy dates, crunchy semolina, and fragrant orange and rose water. Today, Parisians stop by “B.K.” for almond-flecked baklava, marzipan shaped into exotic fruit, horns filled with crushed pistachios or a slice of syrup-soaked orange cake—among many, many other selections. There’s a few sweets that have been tweaked to appeal to French tastes, and a selection of savory items as well. La Bague de Kenza’s selections are takeaway only (and it’s worth noting that they’re not cheap), but the Rue Maur branch also has a rather funky ‘70s-feeling tea room with squat tables where you can pair your selections with a pot of sweet mint tea and a friendly in-house cat. Know Before You Go Rue Saint-Maur branch’s has a lovely tea room, which is open from 2:30 p.m. on weekdays." - Austin Bush

The shop is a beautiful sight to look at and the savory as well as the sweet food exceeded all our expectations. The proprietor we met at the Rue Saint-Maur shop was extremely kind and gifted us with extra bread to try. It was a memorable and positive introduction to Algerian patisserie. We returned the next day to get more of the sesame coils which had a unique citron-y fragrance. Truly amazing. Highly recommended.

My biggest issue with this place besides the price is the employees' passive agressive attitude! They don't know how to smile and should be taught how to especially when 6 pieces of pastries equal 25€. Very disappointed by their welcome everytime! I'm done with this place. Prix astronomiques. Accueil extrêmement froid, sinon passive agressive !!! Ambiance lugubre ! Vendeurs avec têtes d'enterrement ! Bref, faut éviter d'y aller!

This place is a total scam! The say the food is homemade but it came straight from a package and was distastefull and even smelly. We did not dare to eat it. Also rip-off prices. This place should be shut down!

Truly the art of dessert. Excellent Algerian pastries. A little pricey and some are a bit sweeter than we'd prefer. Also, stellar shop cat.

Best Vietnamese restaurant in London. Everything is delicious, the food is very fresh, and the service is amazing. The prices are more than correct. I highly recommend this place!

Easy to walk past so be sure you have the street address. Looks like a spa but is indeed one of the best, if not the best, place in Paris for hot chocolate, tea, pastry, caramels, pates de fruits and chocolates. An elegant, spacious refuge of quiet, attentive service and excellence in every confection. This is artistry. This is perfection.

Yelp
Amazing Algerian pastries and tea in a cozy salon with great ambiance and friendly staff -- a real gem, a very special place.

Yelp
Appealing window display with a few vegetarian offerings. They don't speak English. We tried a pastry stuffed with spinach and another that appeared like an Indian flat bread roti stuffed with tomatoes and onions. The latter was more flavorful. We've never had Algerian food before but found these baked items to be fine for lunch or a snack on the go for about 10 euros total.

Yelp
I'm in love. I might be biased - les pâtisseries orientales have always been some of my favorite desserts. But they have to be well made - well balanced, sweet but not too sweet, with the right amount of honey, pistachio, almond, and whatnot. This bakery has it DOWN. The window display is stunning - and can seem overwhelming - how on earth are you suppposed to pick what you want with so many choices and no description? The salespeople are very helpful, although at times I have found them to be a bit too quick (kind of like "ok, I'll make an assortment that should be good enough for you, here you go"). But most of the time they're really friendly. I've also sampled a lot of their salted goods (sort of like Algerian pizzas), which I really love because they have stuffed pâte feuilletée with spicy veggies inside (I'm a vegetarian). Yum. Yum. Oh yum. The bakery is to go and but there's a spot next door where you can sit down and place your order. A wonderful little spot in the 11th to either pick up dessert or stop for a snack.

Yelp
Horrible Service - didn't stay to try the food. We were planning to sit in the seating area next to the bakery and have dinner. The place was completely empty. We asked if we could grab a certain table next to the window. One of the three servers finally paid us some attention and advised us to another table. We were about to sit down when she all of a sudden remembered that this one was reserved and we should take the other one. So we went back. Just about when we wanted to sit down again, another elder lady (the boss?) jumped at us and wanted us to sit somewhere else, next to the toilet. We asked why we can't take the table at the window. "It's a table for three!!" she answered impolitely. Remember: the place was COMPLETELY empty. Ok, so the two of us sat down somewhere else. And waited, and waited....none of the three ladies bothered to serve us. So we left the place and earned some mean looks. The worst service i experienced during four days of Paris, would not even buy a single cookie at the bakery after this.
