Dropped by this cute little Caribbean shop on my way to the train after an appointment.
I really wanted some coffee and maybe a pastry, but the coffee situation there was quire sad. Call me bougie, but I don't like going to places where I have to prepare the coffee myself. I mean, I could just do that at home. I would rather the bodega, store, bakery, make the coffee to my liking. In this case, I asked for coffee with milk and sugar, and was told it was there for me to make. I thought there was milk, or at the very least, some liquid creamer. So, I poured the coffee in a small cup and found out that they only had powder creamer and Half & Half. I'm not a fan of either, but charged me anyway because I had already poured the coffee. At least it was only $1. I added a bit of Half & Half because there was barely any left, as well as the powder creamer. It tasted awful! This solidified my penchant for when I am out and about, only getting coffee if it's made for me.
I also got a couple of snacks: Cashews with sugar, ginger and whole peanuts. This was super cheap, at $3.50 each.
Then I wanted a Beef patty, but they were already out of that. So, I decided to try the Saltfish patty, which was only $1.40. The patty was thick, perfectly crispy and flaky, with nicely seasoned fish filling. It was pretty good, but I think I would have preferred the beef patty.
Service wasn't the best. I like that the prices are very low, but I won't be back.
