The Best New Hotels in the World: 2023 Hot List | Condé Nast Traveler

"Set above a grassy garden of flowering white oleander, Capelongue’s inviting rustic stone bistro La Bergerie excels in Mediterranean comfort food: think Provencal-style pissaladière, chocolate ganache crumble, and verbena-spiked strawberry salad with whipped cream." - CNT Editors

I wanted to love this place but ended up in two minds. The food was exceptional some of the best we’ve eaten around the world but the service lacked attention. Our arrival drinks were totally wrong. I believe that great food also requires great atmosphere and attention to detail.

Had a wonderful dinner at La Bergerie while staying at the Beaumier Capelongue hotel. We made a reservation through the hotel which was super easy and they accommodated our preferred time. Almost no wait when we showed up. Ordered the pissaladiere (regional pizza with candied onions) and the asparagus salad - both were delicious, with the salad being bright and refreshing. For main I ordered the duckling fillet with potatoes, grilled vegetables and a salad. The duck was tender, juicy and rich, as expected. For dessert there was one “dessert cocktail” option or a buffet of desserts of the day. I chose the buffet as that would give me more options, but after trying a few I couldn’t find any that wowed me, though that’s a matter of taste. The rest of the meal was good enough not to leave me wanting, though. Service was really good and the atmosphere was pleasant - the smell and sounds from the nearby grill round off the experience really nicely.

Wow! Could not fault this dinner! Beautiful view out the terrace to Bonnieux! The interior is also stunning, and has a calming feel to it. The food was so fresh, everything has incredible flavour and cooked to perfection! The dessert is a must - looove the dessert buffet concept! And the service was exceptional - very attentive. I would absolutely recommend visiting here for a meal if you’re in Provence!! I would go again in a heart beat!

The food was great, and the service was amazing. We ordered two items with truffles, both were amazing. Would really recommend the truffle pizza to share. All of the food was plated beautifully. The servers were very friendly, giving blankets for the cold. Definitely with a stop.

The restaurant looked fantastic on first arriving but a couple of things. Service was not at an efficient level and inattentive…quite a long wait to be offered drinks and table not properly cleared and cleaned between courses. The lady singing made conversation difficult in a very busy dining room but that is perhaps a more personal observation. Lastly…the starter came up cold like it had been sitting in the fridge for a few hours despite the menu description of grilled zucchini (also the portion size on the beef stew was tiny to the point that it made my jaw drop). At this level of cooking that feels a little like it is fooling the customer and for that reason alone I wouldn’t return. We visited La Bastide De Marie a couple of days earlier and that menu was a delight and full of truth ! This is all constructive criticism I hope.

The space is beautiful. But the food does not match. A total miss in execution of every dish we ordered. That said. Service was lovely and the team was understanding that the food was off (as we heard other tables complain as well)

Great food and amazing house wine. The service was excellent too. Sitting out in the garden with a lovely view of the setting sun was fantastic. We had vegetarians in our group and we were well catered for. Must come

We had high hopes for this restaurant, but unfortunately they were never met. The location is great, but not everyone has a good view—it’s about a 30/70 chance of getting a nice table. The sparkling water was flat and warm, and we had to ask for ice. The entrées were nice but nothing extraordinary. The mains were overcooked. We had the pork (overcooked) and the rump steak (they didn’t ask how I’d like it done; it was overcooked and had lost all of its flavour), and it took forever for them to be served. We then decided to skip dessert altogether. A huge letdown! We had also booked at another restaurant they run in the region (Bacheto in Lourmarin) but decided to cancel.

Worst service I've ever experienced. If you're American, be ware - they probably won't serve/help you. I've never been treated like this in my life - my husband and I were literally ignored for 35+ minutes while everyone around us was being served. We finally asked for help and the waiter acted like we didn't exist. After an hour, we finally left without being served and empty stomachs.
