Google
The ever changing exhibits keeps this place exciting. I love everytime a new theme is introduced to us in different medias. You can find the most talented artists from San Diego! Its such a positive space to have in the community. This gallery really enriches people's lives and opens doors in your imagination. It's fantastic to come out and see all this creativity that people are willing to share. Its always FREE to attend. A small bar is located in back to purchase beers. And they sell tshirts and tote bags. Great way to help support this place.

Google
La Palabra poetry night. Always love these nights. Talented people, open minds, and acceptance of all. The venue is a little chilly right now (winter/early spring) because they have a giant barn door, but the front is not as chilly. They have a little bar that serves canned and bottled drinks. Bathroom is well kept. They always have great local artists' work on display. Definitely a staple of Barrio Logan and San Diego.

Beautiful Friday night go to, the environment is all love, the talent is amazing and the art is stunning

This place is a gem. We so happened to be in town during the Frida birthday celebrations. They closed down the entire block and had live music. This was one hell of an evening. The owner is one of the coolest guys you will ever meet. It's must when in San Diego. The entire area is blowing up. Several really good places for eats and drinks.

Google
Saw an art show here and it's a nice space. They leave the garage door open so there is fresh air. I enjoyed the show but I wouldn't recommend exploring this part of town at night. I don't know the area very well but I've heard it's not too safe.

Google
Cool little studio with a bar (very limited drink selection, beer only) with varied local types of art each week. Individual studios in the back area. Poetry, art, live music. Most events are free. Bathrooms inside. Great place to enjoy a different cultural experience. I recommend checking out at least one event at some point!

Google
This much beloved gallery has been spreading culture for 6 years in the heart of Barrio Logan. In December 2019 it held its last show and unfortunately is closing after sudden rent increase. They are actively fundraising and recruiting help to set up a new gallery space in the area.

Google
LA Bodega gallery is an excellent place to visit and check out new artists. I went recently to a Marvel themed show. The gallery is a spacious room with brick walls and excellent lighting. Nice crowd of people and friendly gallery staff. There's a small bar with very reasonable prices. Had a great time. Highly recommend. The lowrider art exhibit was also excellent during LA Vuelta.

Yelp
I recently attended the November art show opening that coincides with Barrio Logan Artcrawl and this gallery was nothing but pure magic and good vibes. They showcased artists of different styles and discipline. That means to an art collector or fan, there is something for everyone. The crowd it draws is laid back, friendly and appreciates art. It's not just a place to hang out and people do buy work off the walls. All this without the pretentiousness. It's all good vibes and fun.

Yelp
Have been here for the Pin-Up exhibit and the Star Wars exhibition (12/9/17) and enjoyed both. This is NOT a museum status or anything of the sort. It is though a small art gallery for local artist to showcase their talents. Located in Bario Logan with it's recent refurbishment. Quaint and cozy, like an art studio should feel like. This place however as a negative has no official parking and to be honest street parking is a *#$@&... Well it's difficult at time so I would say Lyft/Uber in. It's definitely a nice little spot to check out when they have a show you might like.

Yelp
I love this gallery because it always offers great shows and events. Only thing is the ventilation system like old venues is horrible. I'm not sure if all there events are free but most of the ones I have ventured to are. This particular time was for a PIN-UP ART SHOW.

Yelp
Been coming through since day one! I was here for their first vinyl record art show, where I bought a beautiful piece by pixie. I would say this place has a lot to do with how much the community has grown the last couple of years. It is located next to Salud, Border X Brewing, Mi Vida, Beat Box Records, Just another Gallery, and right down the street from Chicano Park, so you are sure to have a good time! It is an open space that holds awesome art shows with many local artists. The one I most recently attended was this Dia De Los Muertos sugar skull art show. Beer, water and soda are sold inside, and there is a taco stand right outside. When the sun sets, the vibe changes and the air smells different. It feels homey. I feel comfortable, and it feels like one big ol' block party. Support local art!

Yelp
It's an art gallery and studio space. Art galleries are cool especially when they promote alternative art, sometimes called low brow art, or as I like to say Low Brown Art in reference to Chicana/o artist. Spaces like this have been popping up throughout various parts of the city, but particularly in Barrio Logan. Which, could be seen as a step towards gentrification, however, it gets more complicated than that when you have people involved that are sensitive and aware of the conditions in the barrio including issues of racism and gentrification. So far this space has had several shows and other events. My first time visiting was for a skate show, art by and about skaters. So come check out the next show and support the local art scene in San Diego. I rarely give five stars, but I care so much about the arts and culture, this place deserves all the props they can muster for putting in hard work and make the arts a reality especially when the city seems to be putting their money else where with no love for the alternative art scene.

Yelp
I love Barrio Logan because it has so much potential, people there are so nice (contrary to popular belief) and there is always something going on in the arts arena. Though Facebook I heard of La Bodega Gallery and initially thought it was a real winery (I heard there is one in BL, but still haven't been). After my initial confusion, I immersed myself in the action of Instagram photo exhibition, DJ music, casual bar and even more casual encounters (I met the girlfriend of an old friend and went to her with a 'hey, I know you from Facebook:). Socialization 2.0 versus real life seeing people at night that have an interest in art, fashion and all things that emanate good vibes. I loved the vibe there and kudos to the impromptu PR girl at the door selling tickets for a raffle. She was awesome and had a very original name that I already forgot! The gallery itself it big, lots of I assume re purposed woods in the walls, accessible, comfortable (just need to fresh air!), located in an old brick building that used to be a bank and later on a grocery store. Not bad history, we need money, food and art to feel alive! Bravo for this initiative and keep the great exhibits coming! See you at the next one...just if i lived closer!

Yelp
I love this art gallery and so do soo many other people in SD because it recently won the San Diego City Beat's Best Art Gallery! It's a great space in a convenient location in Chicano Park, right next to Salud. The space itself is not too big, so it can easily get crowded, but they do a good job at crowd control and everyone is respectful of each other. La Bodega just fosters a great space for people to come together. They have great art galleries every month featuring artists from the community. My favorite has been the Frida Kahlo Art Show, which also happened to be my first event. It was AMAZING. Aside from the different art shows each month, (which you can find out about by either joining their mailing list or following them on IG), they also host poetry slams and paint events for kids, among other things. Other small things to note: they have a small bar inside that's open during their Saturday galleries and they also have public bathrooms. I love this place a lot and definitely recommend you check them out. Follow them on ig to know about all of their cool events :)

Yelp
Small, but mighty. Stopped by yesterday for the Comic Book Art Show during Comic Con weekend. It's a small space and can get rather toasty. They do have a stand where you can get drinks and La Bodega merchandise. It's cute and a great way to support local artist.

Yelp
What a little gem hidden in San Diego. For such an expensive city, it's so cool that they host free art exhibits. I'm always impressed with the artwork that goes up and their themes are always so fun! I would highly recommend this gallery to anyone looking for a magical and creative experience around the city!

Veronica M.

Yelp
Very cool art gallery that also hosts live music and other fun events. Step out of your comfort zone and have some cultural fun here.

Yelp
Fun little gallery. Makes a great excuse to zip over to a different neighborhood with all the interesting exhibitions.

Yelp
Always an entertaining mix of local art talent as well as international artists in this unique gallery . . . The signature of La Bodega is, most/all shows present a collection of art on a theme, with each artist allowed only one piece shown, usually small format, approximately 24" x 24". So a typical show has 30-50 or more pieces of art by the same number of individual artists. The work is displayed in one long warehouse-type space, on three floor-to-ceiling walls approx 8-10 feet high. You can step right into the art, study the textures, and the artists mix right into the crowd without identification so you never know who in the crowd is an artist, or not. We've randomly had conversations with artists at some shows, and bought pieces never having any idea who the artist was, except by the name on the piece. Chris and his wife, the owners/curators, are without pretense, they provide a laid back space with an excellent range of talent, medium (paint, drawing, graphic art, wall sculpture, etc.), and vision. A unique gallery experience, and you can go home with an original piece of art in the $100-$500+ range. You claim a piece on the spot, pay, and at the end of approx. a month show you come back and claim your piece. Love this gallery--a true, authentic San Diego invention and treasure.

Yelp
A great place with some great people. Excited to see this gallery come together and serve the community

Yelp
Quaint, lovely gallery, honoring Frieda Kahlo. Current exhibit displays 40 or so portraits of the artist herself. Offers a space for artist of all subject. Plenty of street parking and beverages available for purchase.

Yelp
Wonderful spot in Barrio Logan! Inspiring artwork & always a great group of people gathered at all the events I've been to. Still wear one of the t-shirts I bought there all of the time. Hope they continue to expand because so many people can benefit from the art & culture they provide.

Yelp
I attended the Disney Art Exhibition and it was truly an amazing night. The staff was friendly and the art was displayed beautifully. It's in a super awesome bullying and I loved the genderless bathrooms! I'm looking forward to attending another show.

Yelp
This place is like no other. Inviting, friendly and welcoming. Artists of all levels have an opportunity to showcase work. Almost all the exhibitions are free admission and open to all ages. It's quite an incredible place. They host over 6-8 shows a month. The kids art classes are also a big hit. Visit the website for more information: www.labodegagallery.com

Yelp
This is the best art gallery, and I'll tell you why... Being born and raised in San Diego (Golden Hill), I have a love for my city and community, and the roots run deep... Logan Heights was the place we went to get good food, tortillas, and pan dulce. And I'll be honest, it wasn't what it is today, yet Barrio Logan continues to be a place full of pride, community, culture, and diversity. I am so happy to see how many people, specifically us younger generations, who are rolling up their sleeves and investing in our barrios to make them better for our children. Bravo to everyone who has a dream... as an adult, I only visited this area for two reasons: #1 Las Cuatro Milpas and #2 The VFW because my family are members and we have family events there from time to time. This past weekend we decided to go to Barrio Logan and check out the art scene and flea market next to Por Vida. I can say with confidence this is probably one of the best places in San Diego to experience and in my opinion, La Bodega is at the heart of it. You will find restaurants, street food, music, and ART. La Bodega's environment is so welcoming. This is not a place where you feel as though you don't belong because you're not an expert in art. This is not a place where you dress fancy, eat caviar, and drink champagne while pretending to know what you're looking at. This place is a community jewel where everyone can showcase their talents without judgement. Beer is sold and admission is free! I can't wait to return and of course I cannot wait to buy a work of art. Thank you La Bodega for being leaders in the community!

Yelp
My first time here was for the Frida Kahlo Art Group Show. Then I had my photos submitted in the shots fired photography exhibit and then recently for the Star Wars Art Group Show. I was very impressed with the art work and photography I've seen so far. I didn't realize San Diego had anything artsy. I always thought I had to go to LA for events like this. It's a decent size venue but shows during the summer can be brutal since there's no air conditioning but other than that it's a nice place. The crowd is usually chill and a chill ambience. I look forward to going to more art shows here.

John S.

Yelp
Nice gallery in Barrio Logan. I went with my wife to see Frida Khalo tribute paintings done by local San Diego artists. The gallery is done nicely and is very spacious. There was a bar inside selling Mexican beers, but I am not sure if it was there permanently or just for this special event. Street tacos were being served by the restaurant next door- they had a booth set up serving those who waited in line for entrance to the gallery. Since this was a special event, and with so many fans of Frida Khalo, the line wrapped around the corner down Logan Ave. Progress went fast and I found no one upset about the line. I think the gallery had a good showing that day since I saw several purchases happen during the short time I was there. I plan to go back during one of the 2nd Friday events.

Yelp
Awesome art gallery in Barrio logan. The Frida show was wild this past weekend with tons of people dressed up as Frida and beautiful artwork! Definitely check it out

Yelp
Let me start off by saying Bravo!!! To the creative minds who put the wheels in motion for such an awesome establishment! Like many of us that have attended showings here I am a native SD girl. Although I didn't grow up in the 92113 zip code, my grandparents owned a house in Sherman on 21st street where they could walk to Our Lady of Guadalupe for mass or down to the no longer there Famous Porkyland. With that being said if you grew up roaming on foot, rolling through Chicano Park in your parents car club low low or accidentally exited on the wrong off ramp you knew Barrio Logan for being a family oriented neighborhood, yet a little scary because it was never kept up because it appeared as if nobody cared about tagging or trash or whatever yuck was around. Times have changed La Bodega Gallery is effin AmZing! You can walk through "The Barrio" and into a creative and very inventing space with a very diverse group of people and feel safe and like the neighborhood has always been hip like it is now. Thank you for such a kick ass spot and bringing positive vibes to 92113,

Crissy D.

Yelp
Went to the Venus Art Show last night 03/05/2016. It was an endless selection of women's art representing various women's concerns, beauty, joy, angst. The gallery is small but neat. The walls are truly bodega style, with character. The body artists just added even more to the cultural flair. I just wished the women's band was there earlier. That corner with iSalud & La Bodega is a happening place. It made us all go or go back to Bariio Logan and find it worthwhile.

Yelp
I don't think I've ever spent time in Barrio Logan. I've definitely drove by, at most. The other day i had the opportunity to attend an Art Show that the non-profit organization ARTS (A Reason To Survive) was throwing. Location was easy the find, the street parking wasn't too bad either. It's also connected to Border Brewery. The venue isn't very large, but that's what brings out it's personality. Great space for an art show. Small stage for performers, corner area to sell drinks, tacos were being sold outside, no where to sit, no air conditioning (yes, it was hot), receptionist area right when you enter, bathrooms on location. Where the gallery was located was my favorite part. It was down the street from Chicano Park, so it brings so much culture, i loved it! Barrio Logan is definitely a growing area, and it's continuing to do so. Such a great gallery in an up and coming community (hope the locals are OK with that, lol)

Anna G.

Yelp
Great cultural center offering gallery exhibits and painting classes. Wonderful tacos next door at Salud restaurant.Folks at Bodega always create a welcoming and cool atmosphere. The gallery space is large and airy.
