Looking for a nice place to eat in for Friday evening in the area of our hotel, and found this lovely place. Not a big restaurant, a medium sized bar with rich menu. From tapas, starters, main ones until desserts and aperitif or good cup of espresso. Very nice for families and couples (i sat by myself). Very efficient staff who recommend me for good food, and believe me - I was very hungry. The fish I ordered came quickly and was made by pros. At the end I took a fresh cheese cake which was made today, you can know that if you like cheesecakes at the most.... Prices - accommodate, 34 euros for plate of fish, glass of Vermoot peace of cheesecake and an espresso coffee, is really not too much

Google
Really nice and cozy place. Fair prices. We had read about it beforehand and booked a table without any issues. The food was great, and the service was excellent and attentive — even though it was busy, the staff still had time for a little chat. We can especially recommend the seared tuna!

Luigi Muscat Filletti

Google
A stylish eatery with a bistro feel, serving tapas and main plates. A local type of place with a modern twist. Attended for dinner service. Served well and proficiently. The tuna was exceptional. Wine by the glass at €3.50 and tasted well above its tag. Ideal for groups as well as a date spot.

Google
Overall above average rated experience for pricey lunch, where the wait staff seemed really stretched and hurried. The lobster rice was excellent. Flavourful and well seasoned. Would have been perfect if there weren't sandy bits in the broth. The fried calamari was good, albeit slightly oily. Fried tempura in a slightly spicy tomato sauce was very good. (prawns were fresh). Scallops, though small, were pan seared and seasoned perfectly.

Returned many times in the last 7 years. The food is authentic and made from great ingredients. The service is easygoing but attentive and there is always a 'buzz' in this place. I Love it!

Google
We dined during a Friday night and made reservations about 2 days in advance. The tables filled up during our dinner, so making a reservation is probably best. Elegant atmosphere. Attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful service. The food was beautifully plated and tasted great!

Google
Tasty food but a bit too pricy for what it was. Sangria and dessert (brownie) was nice. Inattentive staff made the experience less enjoyable. When expressing that we didn't like a dish (fried artichokes), a staff member just grunted and didn't bother to discuss it. Also, food came out weirdly quick, and didn't feel fresh. Starters came out 30 seconds after we ordered them. Main courses came out 5 minutes after finishing the starters.

Google
Prawns Prawns Prawns. My wife says the times we had prawns in Barcelona over a week. This place prawns are the best. Croquettes and peppers were good. I personally like the steak with foie gras (soooo nicely done and tender) accompanied by great wine choice. Servers there don’t really speak English must. But you can see and feel their spirit to understand more and capture your needs. Had an enjoyable lunch.

Yelp
Do not eat here!!!! The place was empty while all my the restaurants were full. We went because of the reviews. The service was awful and the staff was very rude. They stood and just stared at us as we ate. Never asking how the food was or to refill the wine. We felt very uncomfortable and was the worst experience of all the restaurants we ate during our trip thru Spain. Oh the food? Average at best. Definitely can find much better in the area.

Yelp
Loves the vibe of this place... very old school. It's right at the corner of the street on Rambla de Catalunya. It has a sort of hole in the wall feel, or, perhaps more aptly, hole in the ground -- since this joint is in a basement unit. Seemed really popular each time we passed by, so finally gave it a go on our last night in Barcelona. It had all the usual suspects on the menu, and quite a selection of bocadillo, which were all fine. The tortilla was delicious and service was prompt and the decor was adequately stark and looked like it hadn't been updated in a century... in an authentic feeling way

Yelp
Our fabulous server, Mariana, scored us the perfect outside table for four as the sun set and the tapas flowed. The star of the show for me was the "griddled prawns" which were even more tasty than they were beautiful. We'll be back one day!

Ted T.

Yelp
Food basic. Service on other hand really rude. If you're a tourist move on. Staff very unfriendly. Talked about us in Spanish right in front of us as we ate, as they stared at us. Never checked on us. Then added gratuity to the bill. Was not welcoming nor enjoyable.

Yelp
What a gem! It's around the corner from a much more popular spot (and busier) Cerveseria Catalana. We couldn't get a seat there so we walked around for a bit hoping to stumble upon something wonderful and I'm SO glad we did. This was exactly what we needed. Tapas coming out hot, fresh, and delicious. Every single dish was better than the last. Solid wine selection and helpful staff that was willing to listen to me and my sad attempts at speaking Spanish. The patatas bravas here are the best I've had so far in the city with what, in my experience, is a truly unique sauce for dipping and a lovely crisp exterior. My husband's favorite dish was the prawns; fresh taste and delicate seasoning -- nothing over the top. It's a smaller place that had plenty of locals out for a meal and that's what makes it special; it's that real "local Barcelonas tapas bar" experience. I'm actually glad we didn't get seats where we originally planned because this was even better

Yelp
Went to this comfortable tapas place in the Example neighborhood of Barcelona for a weeknight dinner. Service was good. The young woman who took over from the older man was a pleasant improvement. The food was all good. Tapas were not the best we've had, but they had a special risotto made with a rich beef broth, foie gras and champignon which was possibly one of the best dishes I've ever eaten! Add to it a good selection of wines, at all price points and I have to recommend this place for a lovely, casual meal.

Yelp
This place was one of the multiple stops during our Food Tour, and it was delicious! We had a fruity Spanish white wine, Afurtunado, which was delightful and I wonder if I can find something similar now that I'm back home. Other dishes we tried were the tomato bread - simple but tasty, and the bacalao (codfish) croquettes which came out hot and were the perfect texture! Great place to try Spanish cuisine!

Yelp
We were taken there as part of a a "Secret Food Tour" of Barcelona. Obviously, the food tour people thought the place was good... or maybe it is on there list because they can quickly accommodate the food tour. Anyway, we had three dishes there (and a couple of bottles of wine)... the calamari, an octopus dish and the anchovies. If you've only had those nasty anchovies that you get on pizzas and many Caesar Salads, this is a good place to see what they really can be.

Yelp
The food and service here was above average. The food was really good, we ordered a grilled red prawns, peppers, and seafood black rice. All were above expectations for both me and my wife. The service was fast and efficient. Although in the beginning it did take a while to be seated, and they did ask if we had reservations. We didn't. So if you want to come here, it's best to make reservations in advance, otherwise you'll have to wait a little bit. The staff were busy and moving about on a Monday evening, restaurant was packed and the atmosphere was nice. The reason why this is a 3 star review rather than a 4 star review is because the waitress added 5 Euro on top of my original bill. Perhaps it was miscommunication or just weird business to ask a customer for tips. I paid via credit card, but didn't think any of it until I got back to my hotel, the people at the front desk told me it is not standard and common practice to leave tip/gratuity. The hotel staff thought it to be odd and told me to go back to the restaurant to ask for my 5 Euro back, the waitress was there to defend herself but the owner(s) looked at the receipt and didn't bother asking any questions and just gave me back the 5 Euro. The owners were nice, the waitress was trying to talk to me and was trying to teach me a lesson saying I should have just said "no tips". For a city that doesn't leave tips as a standard, I thought it to be odd for this waitress to demand tips. Her very exact words, "do you want to leave tip by cash or credit?" I think she took advantage of the situation knowing that my wife and I are from the United States, where tipping is a standard. If it weren't for this situation about the tipping, I would return to this restaurant without a doubt because the food and service was good. But because of my specific situation, I don't want any "special" ingredients when I return. Despite my experience, and although I personally wouldn't come back, I would recommend this restaurant for their great food. Just beware of your total bill before leaving.

Yelp
Stumbled across this restaurant on a fine Friday evening, and it ended up being our favorite dinner in Barcelona. Delicious food, excellent service, couldn't recommend more.

Yelp
At first site you wouldn't be able to tell but this is a great restaurant in Barcelona with excellent food, way above average, the staff here is very friendly and responsive to your demands, prices are normal, the only thing that is not exactly 5 stars here is the location, but the food and the large selection of wines compensate fot that.

Yelp
Very good service and very good food. Tapas here is to share and we ordered 5 different for three people, which was sufficient. Add desserts...Value for money is OK. I recommend highly.

Yelp
Lucked out by finding this tapas place and really enjoyed the food plus lovely service too! We were seated outside, as the inside was totally packed, but it was a quiet street and the outside tables were inside a boxwood and under shelter, so made for a lovely dining experience. I can totally recommend the salt and pepper octopus as well as the fried sardines. These were just deep fried to perfection and we devoured them .

Yelp
Wide selection of tapas and everything we ordered was tasty. We went to another tapas place that was highly recommended on yelp the night before and I was disappointed. So this place made up for the not so great experience! Recommend baby squid calamari!

Yelp
Went here based on Rick Steve's Pocket Travel Book and glad I did. It is a short walk from Casa Mila. We had to wait a little bit for a table and glad we did. We went for lunch and ate chef's special which had a chouce fron three appetizers, three entrees and two different desserts for a little over 12 Euros. It was delicious and great price! The cook and waiters were super friendly and helpful explaining the dishes/menu. We were also able to sit next to chef's window which was cool as we could see she was cooking everything at that moment and very fast indeed. Do go here if on a budget and want some good food. Highly recommended

Yelp
Very nice option for tapas. We had a variety of tapas and they all very good. Service was nice and fast. The wine by the glass, was delicious! Another option to come back next time in town.

Yelp
Excellent choice of tapas and wide range of drinks and traditional cocktails.. My daughter loved the bunellos fritos de bacalla and calamari and shes a tough food critic!

Yelp
So after reading hundreds of Spanish Yelp reviews, I'm assuming that guiris is a pejorative term for tourists, and as one of the previous Yelpers so kindly put it, this place is filled with tourists. Well, I have to say here and now that I'm quite certain we were the only foreigners in the place when we were there, so I don't know what the heck he was talking about. It definitely had an old kind of feel, like a bunch of abuelos should be in here playing dominoes or cards or something, and I loved that. There were also a ton of Spanish products lining the walls that I might have bought if I felt like carrying them around for the rest of our day. I think we had a couple drinks and ate Pa amb tomaquet and I think a plate of setas, and then went on our way, but we both really liked the atmosphere. Does that mean we're two little abuelos in a 30 something suit? Maybe. You might miss it if you're not careful, you have to take a couple of steps down from street level to get into it. And actually, I guess its close proximity to La pedrera might attract guiris, and I did read about it in my handy dandy Barcelona guidebook, but it was far from packed (though considering it was not any sort of regular eating time when we were there, it was quite full) with anyone, especially not guiris, and we really liked it.

Yelp
Great food, great staff, and great atmosphere. Prices are a bit on the higher end as is typical here, but certainly nothing like at home in SF. The grilled prawns, croquettes, and calamar were all we needed. And they were excellent. So was the wine (by the glass). Service was efficient and friendly.

Yelp
If you enjoy tapas, La Bodegueta Provença is a great place to sample the finest tapas Barcelona has to offer. Since my friend ordered everything, I don't exactly recall what was ordered but the white wines that we ordered were excellent. In particular, I remember this black rice dish being delicious, along with the fried calamari. You can't really go wrong with their menu as everything that I tried was tantalizing to my mouth. It was also nice that this restaurant was away from the touristy areas. Just be careful of the times that they are open as we almost missed their lunch time. This place is somewhat pricey but definitely worth the investment for a gastronomic experience in Barcelona.

Yelp
We had the menu of the day which included salads, tuna pieces on a kebab as well as squid, and lovely ice cream that they made in house. While the servers did not speak English they were very attentive and provided a really nice experience. All the food look good and the place was absolutely full when we were there. Would highly recommend eat there again!

Yelp
WARNING: PRICE GOUGING FOR TOURISTS I came here with some friends because it came recommended by our hotel. My friend ordered GAMBAS (Spanish prawns) and the Romanian waiter suggested he have the seafood special. Never mentioned the price, but nothing on the menu was over 25-30 €. Our meal is nice, most of the food is average to good. We did not like the seafood special and didn't finish it. My friend commented that she read a review that the waiters were rude but ours was ok. Then we get the bill- this seafood special that he suggested, listed on the bill as "Suggeriments Varis" was 75€! Most of our dishes were between 1-8€ & our wine 28€. We ask to see the menu again, and nothing listed on the menu or specials shows this seafood special for 75€. How can you charge someone for something not on the menu? We argued with them but they said this is normal of tapas restaurants and would not adjust the price. We had just been to the food market earlier that day, and 75€ could buy you a kilo of seafood there. Don't go here and get ripped off like we did.

Yelp
Crowded, seems like a mixed local and tourist crowd. They seem to put the latter in the side room, which is fine. The main bar looked really lively. Basic tapas menu with efficient service.

Yelp
Best tapas we've had in Spain so far. Standout dishes: tuna with avocado, octopus, eggs with sausage. Although, we ordered about one of everything on the menu and it was all outstanding.

Yelp
Love this place. They were friendly, quickly sat us and the food was delicious!! We started with the house greens, fried artichokes, patatas bravas and grilled beef tenderloin. Everything was good. We had a bottle of the house red wine and it was also good.

Yelp
By appearance this is a great local and typical tapas bar. It has a nice ambiance and friendly staff. The food and drinks are decent, but it is quite expensive for the quality and portion size. I wanted it to be great but there are better choices nearby like the Cerveceria Catalana.

Linda J.

Yelp
Love it. This is a tiny place but the food and the personnel outstanding!!!! Location could not be better. Excellent quality of food.

Yelp
Great local spot to stop by. V friendly staff - lots of regulars. Good beers in bottles...lots of wine to choose from. Food was solid.

Yelp
I accidentally came here instead of the one on Catalunya. Food is mediocre at best and overpriced. Best part of my experience was the wi-fi password that they provided me to post this review!

Michelle M.

Yelp
Beef tenderloin montadito with brie was my favorite! Also tried the fried shrimp, the patatas bravas and loved it!

Yelp
Want to go back. We are foodie tourists who love their wine and food. Must order grilled artichokes and padron peppers. Drinkable wines, we drank lots of wine. Great service.

Yelp
Exceeded expectations on food quality and service. We let our waiter pick the menu and he delivered with one treat after the next topped with a steak to share at the end. The eggplant, foie gras, and other treats were excellent. The steak was served practically sizzling on the plate, medium as suggested. Deserts were excellent and our waiter was fun throughout. There was one other US table for two in the restaurant, others were from Spain & the EU. High recommendation.

Yelp
Potates braves (sp?) are fantastic. Ordered house red wine and it was one if the best reds I've ever had. The toasted bread with olive oil and tomato is delicious, especially with the order of goat cheese. Also ordered olives and spicy chorizo. Was a lovely little dinner. Ambiance is quaint, though could do without the fluorescent lights. Regardless, food is so delicious (and cheap!) that this place is def worth a visit for lunch or dinner.

Yelp
This place Sucks with big letter "S". Service is non existent and preferential to locals. Whatever they call "tapas" is very cheap pre-cooked food sold at close to meal prices. It's seems it's all about location and beer, which makes people come there. If you are going for food, go the other way.
