"Mezcal Bar in the Centro Histórico Whether you're new to mezcal or have already added it to your repertoire, you'll probably like La Botica, a mezcal bar among The Shops at Downtown in the Downtown Hotel in Centro Histórico. The bar is on the smaller side, with all tables for two, and it's a good place to have a drink or two in the late afternoon–perhaps before dinner at Azul Histórico, an excellent restaurant on the ground floor of the same building."

Highly recommend this bar to anyone in Centro. Mario is the sweetest bartender I’ve ever met and makes the most amazing drinks. He plays great music and the balcony views are gorgeous. This place is a hidden gem. I will be back again.

Really cool little bar tucked away in this complex. The grasshoppers were perfectly seasoned and were much tastier than I was expecting. The mezcal selection here is also great. I highly recommend checking it out if you are in the area or waiting for you table and Azul Historico.

If you want a down-to-earth mezcal bar that doesn’t jack up prices, pours an appropriate amount, and has a strong selection of mezcal’s (and other agave spirits), look no further. This is how mezcal was intended to be enjoyed, with community.

Really cool vibe. Great service. But most importantly, cracking frozen margaritas. What a find just off the main square. Oh, and it’s a great escape from the heat because the bar is actually cool.

One of the best Mezcalerias in the city with several locations. Agave spirits made from many different agave species in many different states of Mexico are well represented.

Awesome mezcal bar with laid back vibe and classic bar/cafe ambiance. Service is impeccable. The Sotol Desierto is the finest, most unique mezcal I have tasted.

Yelp
We tried 4 different mezcal cocktails at this cute little bar, which is located on the second floor above the famous restaurant Azul. We had a very nice bartender who was new at making cocktails she said, but nevertheless made some very tasty cocktails. Our favorite was the Morena, and we also liked the mezcalina a lot. They have two little tables on the verandas looking out at the street below. Most of the cocktails were well priced at 79 pesos, so if you're in the mood for a beer or a mezcal, you should give it a try

Yelp
Hidden gem near the chaotic historic center. Hidden away within a hotel building, it was quite a challenge to find this place from the entrance, there is no sign for it until you go upstairs towards the shops. Get a table at the balcony to look out on the street, there are outlets to charge your phone. Great place to take a break from the historic center action. The 2x we went there a handful of people.

Yelp
A MUST for anyone visit the Zocalo area. Great Mezcal drinks and atmosphere. Pick out a seat at one of the balconies and watch all of Mexico walk by. If you're lucky it'll rain and you'll be witness to one of the best sights in all of Mexico.

Yelp
ENGLISH: If you are an alcohol enthusiast or just a plain ole alcoholic, this bar is for you. This is hands down one of the nicest bars in CDMX. There is a balcony here, and they have super cool decor. If you're feeling brave, come here to drink the mezcal (mezcal = tequila's evil big sister). They have a huge selection of mezcal from different parts of Mexico. To my fellow gringos, please don't take mezcal as a shot. You may actually die. Mezcal is made for sipping. It's stronger than tequila, and yes ma'am, it does bite. They serve oranges with the mezcal to help extinguish the fire mezcal starts in your throat. They also have crickets on the menu. They're called chapulines. If you drink enough mezcal, you'll become adventurous enough to try them out. If you're too scared to drink the mezcal or eat the chapulines, they have a nice variety of beers and cocktails and snacks on the menu as well. ESPAÑOL: Mezcal = Chingón.

Yelp
Pure magic and a wonderful way to work your way through the worlds of mezcal. The primary staff was very keen to educate and guided us to many wonderful tastes. With the nice street and the awesome historic building, I would say you should make this a primary bar stop on your trip to Mexico City.

Yelp
Grab a seat upstairs on the balcony and catch a glimpse of Mexico City going by down below (complete only with slews of slow moving traffic, of course). Order mezcal, which will come with grasshopper-dusted orange slices, and make sure to get some Oaxacan cheese and beer to round things out. This outpost of La Botica is a perfect perch to become better acquainted with both mezcal and the historic center of Mexico City.

Yelp
Great service in a hidden space upstairs by a popular restaurant. They got us 8 different types of mezcal tasting. We had a blast tasting it all and then the scary grasshopper were delish.

Yelp
Cool little place!! Good mezcal! Great view! Nostalgic Looney Tunes used as decor. I had a great time here.

Yelp
La Botica is tucked away on the 2nd floor of the coolest concept space in the Centro, an architecturally stunning and historic area of Mexico City. The building plays host to a gorgeous restaurant, a hip hotel and a separately hip hostel, an array of small shops and this 2nd floor mezcal bar. You have to order some small snacks in order to sit and sip on different mezcals, but the food ordering is easy: just go with the queso oaxaca. On this last occasion that I went, we got the last available Oaxaca cheese and it showed: the freshness just wasn't there and the cheese wasn't stringy and flexible when peeled off but rather stiff and lacking in moisture. The mezcals, however, steal the show here and you can either get it in cocktail form or shot form. Just tell the server what you're looking for taste-wise: incredibly strong and high in alcohol content or soft and woody. This is a great bar to stop at if you're sightseeing in the area.

Yelp
So much selection! I settled on a single Mezcal shot and a Mochito. It's a great spot even in the afternoon.

Yelp
Nice mezcal bar. Divey, but good selection of mezcals. Lots of locals. Hipster Mexico at its finest.

Yelp
The place is cool and the building is great. The drinks are reasonably priced and the service was great. My only complaint would be the bug I found in my drink!
