Very fine cooking: risotto especially good but the white fagiolini are also fabulous. Roast chicken excellent. Wonderful olive oil that they are famous for. We agree with other reviewers that the selection of Tuscan wine is first rate and exceptionally fairly priced. Visit their nearby deli for picnic stuff and also good selection of wine. We went back twice for the food. Service can be a bit haughty. But no one can be nice to customers all the time. A small price to pay for cooking of this quality.

A small eatery hidden in one of the side streets, with a small garden. The menu is interesting, there's a recommended dishes card, prices are normal, but the coperto is 4 euros. We tried a cold tripe salad and pasta with duck – interesting flavors, but very small portions. The waitress was seemingly nice, but added 5 euros to the bill for alcohol we didn't order, so be careful and check your bill. EDIT in reply: it is your obligation (as a manager or a waiter) to check, if the amount and the dishes/alcohol on the bill is correct (and no, you didn't bring anything "by mistake or sth". I have strong impression that you just don't like customers if they are not Italians or Americans, and do not eat 4 courses - and I have right for that. Edit 2: Where did I accuse you of being a racist (especially that I'm orginally from europe)? You can't just humbly accept an opinion other than a 5-star one. There's a Polish proverb: 'Uderz w stół, a nożyce się odezwą' (If you hit the table, the scissors will speak up), which means something like 'He who excuses himself, accuses himself.'

I want to start by saying that the food and staff there were wonderful. However, we would never go back solely because of the owner (the older man). He made a RACIST joke about me being “Japanese” (I am South Korean, travelling with my adoptive parents). Then when a lady accidentally gave us the wrong bill, he proceeded to YELL at her in front of us. It was a quick fix, but we don’t think he treats his staff nicely. Which is unfortunate since they were very kind. We won’t be going back to this restaurant and hope that others don’t support. Also, pretty sure he upcharged us for being tourists. EDIT: the “joke” was when we were being handed our menus. My mom (who is almost fluent in Italian) received one in Italian, my dad received an English one, and as the man handed me mine he said “oh I don’t have one in Japanese for you”, and laughed at me. My mom responded on my behalf stating that I was not Japanese, but no apology from him. There was no “language barrier”. Also, to the other part, regardless if him and the other woman are married, it is still unprofessional to behave that way in front of customers. Inappropriate behaviour all around.

What a superb find this place was. Food of the highest quality. Service was just as good. We are here for two weeks and we will definitely be using this place as our go to restaurant

I came back to Pistoia only for La Bottegaia‘s eggplant parmigiana - a vegetarian masterpiece. It’s honestly one of the best dishes I’ve ever had and worth a trip to Tuscany!

Great restaurant. We were an extended family group and they were lovely to the toddler and helpful with the dietary requirements. The food is excellent, I had the tagliata but next time I’m having trippa!

Excellent restaurant. We ate a delicious and perfectly cooked Fiorentina, accompanied by a lovely bottle of red wine. All the other food sounded great too. The waiters and owner/chef were very friendly and helpful. The chef knows his business as he chose to serve incredibly grassy olive oil from Sardinia rather than Tuscany. Good value for money too. Grazie!

Nice vibe, fine menu, veg options, Gentle service, cozy. I got a fast lunch, I have been delighted from a Asparagus pie with parmigiano muss, rostead potatoes and work wild erbs... The taste was nice balanced, the veggies fresh and the service fast. Racomanded

Yelp
What a delightful, comfortable and welcoming restaurant in Pistoia. I had some of the best steak tartare I've had in recent memory. Marzia, the owner, is gracious and made an excellent wine recommendation from the region, a super Tuscan which was mostly Sangiovese with a 10% Cabernet to give it a deep, bold taste. My husbands cod was fresh and flaky with a hint of bread crumbs and Tuscan beans. My traditional Tuscan soup was more like a saucy southern dressing than a brothy soup but very filling and warm on a chilly day. My husbands cuddlefish soup was excellent (a little salty for me, but I don't eat a lot of salt so probably perfect for most). The warm apple pie dessert with custard was also outstanding. I am not a big sweets gal but have to admit I had more than my usual one bite taste. Perfecto!

Yelp
Wonderful meal with lovely service for our last evening in Italy. We didn't have a reservation but they squeezed us in at 7pm as long as we could leave by 9. All very local from the starter, to the pasta, dessert and wine.

Yelp
Came with two friends and we sat in the back of the restaurant outside facing the duomo. The food was delicious. Hands down the best pasta I've had so far in Italy. Great wine and dessert too. 10/10 experience!!

Yelp
Stopped in here for lunch during a relaxing afternoon in Pistoia. This was a very relaxing restaurant in a quiet courtyard with outside dining. The wait staff was not very friendly but the food was really flavorful and very good quality. My friend had the filled crepes with a side of vegetables. I had the slow cooked beef with mashed potatoes and a side of white beans. All the food was fantastic. We finished with espresso and cappuccino and tiramisu. Would definitely recommend this restaurant if in the area. I am sure most the items on the menu are quite good as well.

Yelp
Great little spot to eat in Pistoia. With two sides between Via del Lastrone and Vicolo dei Fuggiti. The second side is somewhat the better side as you can eat in the shadow of the toweringly beautiful Battistero, just off the Piazza del Duomo. The food was Italian excellentissimo (sorry). Nothing crazy or better than a lot of other places but really good fish and pasta, well cooked. The service was very friendly, attentive and competent. The wine was really good, prices are super friendly, especially with the current position of the Euro vs GBP. The village is lovely to walk around and enjoy a relaxing afternoon and this spot is top to grab some dinner and wine.

Yelp
We found this roaming around Pistoia, which we enjoyed for the lack of tourists. A pleasant environment, but very mixed service, certainly not one which would be considered inviting. We both ordered the Parmigiana Di Melanzana, which was adequate but nothing special. We usually order two separate dishes and share, but not much else appealed to us on the menu that night. A bit expensive, but not outrageous. The next night we were back in the same area, and not finding any other restaurants appealing, we went back to La Bottegaia. Two wait staff, including one from the previous evening, basically ignored us. I motioned to one and asked, in Italian, for a table for two. The one from the previous evening turned to the other and quietly told the other that we were not Italians, at which point we were told there were no tables available. We walked up the street two doors, to Lo Storno, not as attractive, and we were seated immediately. A much better restaurant, without the anti-tourist attitude. The food was better, although no English was spoken, and we left quite satisfied.
