La Boverie in Liège is an absolute gem that left me in awe! This stunning museum, set in a beautifully renovated building within the serene Parc de la Boverie, offers an incredible blend of fine arts and captivating exhibitions. The permanent collection, featuring masterpieces from the 19th and 20th centuries, is impeccably curated, with works by artists like Monet and Picasso displayed with insightful context that brings each piece to life. The temporary exhibitions were equally impressive, showcasing innovative contemporary art in a way that felt fresh and engaging. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and knowledgeable, offering thoughtful insights that enriched the experience. The modern architecture, with its light-filled galleries and views of the Meuse River, creates a perfect ambiance for art lovers. The museum shop and café were delightful bonuses, offering unique souvenirs and tasty treats. An unforgettable cultural experience - highly recommend and I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

This stunning building is recently renovated and expanded and houses a small collection of paintings, including few works of major modern masters. It is most importantly organising spectacular temporary exhibitions in its huge halls that attract people from all over the region. The museum’s cafe is also very well placed to enjoy nice basics while resting between the various exhibitions.

Small but very nice museum, several pieces ordered chronologically from late renaissance to a large space dedicated to modernart from the 20th century. The architecture itself looks classic from the outside but is definitely more modern from inside. It’s a must visit if you come to Liège

Must-see museum nestled in a relaxed park with good permanent collection and well-rounded temporary exhibitions. The empire building houses a fine permanent collection with works throughout multiple centuries which has an emphasis on Belgian artists such as Henri Evenepoel, Paul Delvaux and Jean-Guillaume Carlier. The museum often also hosts well-thought out temporary exhibitions; (05/2025) Ars - Mechanica was about products the famous Belgian weapons manufacturer FN Herstal.

Nice little museum, not many things to see, but free of charge.

An elegant neoclassical building houses a delightful collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artworks. During my visit, there was a change in exhibitions; unfortunately, I only had the opportunity to view the permanent collection, but I was not disappointed. It is a must-visit if you love art and are visiting Liège

Great permanent collection. Just €5 entry. Set in a lovely building by the water surrounded by parklands. Lots of fabulous impressionist and neo impressionist paintings. Signac. Monet. More modern works too. Ben Nicholson. Loved it!

The rich collection of this museum takes its place in a beautiful building of 1905、created for the world's fair in Liège that attracted 7.000.000 visitors. The collection is fairly impressive and includes artworks of the greatest masters. The temporary exhibitions are always very well made、which is not surprising as Le Louvre is generally involved. The museum boutique and restaurant (nice specialty of bagels) are interesting. A very nice place that you must see if you are in Liege.

On an early December Tuesday,I walked from the awesome Liege Train Station designed by Santiago Calatrava to the la Boverie Art Museum and I saw the very inventive temporary Bill Viola Exhibit.American Bill Viola, the"Sculptor of Time"is a pioneer in Video Art. Much of the permanent collection was not on display ,but I saw marvelous paintings by Lambert Lombard("Scenes From The Life of Saint Denis"),Abel Grimmer("Parable of Winegrowers"),Gerard De Lairesse("Judith",Judaic theme by this outstanding Mannerist)("Orpheus Arrives in Hell",Jean Auguste Dominque Ingres("Napoleon"),Christian Kohler("Semiramis"),Eugene Boudin,Claude Monet("Harbor Scene",the paradigm of quality French Impressionism),Camille Pissarro("The Louvre,Paris"),Paul Signac("Le Chateau de Combiar",stellar Pointillism),Henri Le Sidaner("Trianon"),Oskar Kokoshka("Monte Carlo"),Pablo Picasso("Soler Family",produced in 1903,)Paul Gauguin("Marquesan Man Red Cape"),Paul Delvaux("Man of the Street"),Rene Magritte("Forest")and Emile Claus("The Gardener"),just to cite a few captivating works. This art museum that day had quality.I wish it had more quantity. I realize Liege is a very French Speaking City, but since English is the Lingua Franca,it needs to have more labelling and information in English. My trip from Brussels to Liege was very worthwhile. The next time,I will bring along my French-English Dictionary.
