How to Experience Maple Sugaring Season in Canada

"The Cabane á Tuque sugar shack differs wildly from the typical Québec option, but that’s the key to its charm." - Ksenia Prints

It was so good! My gf surprised me and took me to this spot, the food was fresh and homemade and not too sweet not too greasy. Delicious and healthyyyy. It was all vegan so it was heaven on earth!!! I will definitely be back, it’s a whole experience!

yummm yummm not only this sugar shack is vegan every single ingredient (except salt) used to prepare the menu is grown locally. now that is hella impressive!! 99% self sufficient. hats off to you Samuel! the owner is a young couple living at the cabana itself with their son and they buy local products from their friends who are the producers. it was very refreshing experience. wholesome. unlike other commercialized sugar shacks. only comment i’d make is that I found the maple syrup very thin in consistency. besides that the food was delicious 🤤 the soup, the « temp’oeuf » (temph’egg) , the pie , the patates 🥔 !! and of course the unlimited TAFFY. happy gal lets say i had a major food coma after that 😂 oh, also you can do axe throwing there and a hiking trail!

It was my second time in 7 years at this fully vegan sugar shack. My opinion stays the same : I’m unfortunately not liking the food very much:( soup isn’t thick enough, tempeh was burned a bit, pudding chomeur looks more like a berry crumble, creton have no taste (nor smell ?!) and oreilles de crisse are sweet when it’s supposed to be salty… beans and potatoes are good. Crepes and apple sauce as well ! The family service is cute and nice, but if I wanna go to a cabane à sucre, I kinda wanna have a perfectly typical sugar shack meal ; missing scrambled tofu, vegan bacon and sausages. Especially for the price, 145$ for 2, I would expect a better food experience.

Great food! The rosemary and maple syrup potatoes were the standout. Friendly and personable staff, and a really nice dining area. The axe throwing is fun while you wait too. Only gripe is that it's a tad bit expensive, but considering it's mostly all-you-can eat, I'd say it's worth it!

Great concept, cool decoration. Unfortunately the price is not worth the meal. The tea that was served was delicious, so were the potatoes, but all of the other main dishes were quite bland. I was particularly disappointed with the pudding chomeur... It tasted somewhat sour; both the taste and the texture were far from making it a delicious dessert. Most of the dishes lacked in deliciousness actually. And the fact that it is expensive (around 80$ per person, with tips) makes it all the more heartbreaking. Left the place feeling dissatisfied and sad.

It didn't feel like I was in a sugar shack. Although the staff was super friendly, food was bland. I was first confused when I arrived there. Once found out, I was served with a very bland pea soup. It tasted like warm water. Not good at all... The bread (contrary to their website, it wasn't smoked baguette) and the vegan creton (spread) were the most decent things. The main dish: pie, tempeh, some marinated stuff and beans. The pie was less than ok, its spiciness was hiding all the flavor (or flavorness). At least the pie was served in a good temperature. The tempeh was just weird, cold and tasteless. The beans were good, but at home I do the same every day. The potatoes were okay. They didn't served me the homemade ketchup, I don't know why. The sauerkraut and the beets were fine. For the dessert, I had the pounding chômeur and it had a funny texture, the flavor was "eatable". I poured a lot of maple syrup to make it a bit better. And finally the mapple taffy in snow. Good, like all other places. As much as I wanted to share a good experience, promote a vegan and local place, I'm sorry but I can't. I payed 110$ to have had one of my worst dining experiences... If I could choose the price, a fair price, maybe 20$ it would be.

We had an excellent meal for five last night celebrating our daughter's birthday. She is vegan and we found the perfect spot for her and us. We were greeted upon arrival by the always friendly and helpful Marie-Soleil. The owner Simon took the time to explain the restaurant's philosophy and you could hear the passion in his voice regarding the fresh local grown ingredients and use of organic and self grown herbs and vegetables. This all translated into a delicious all you can eat meal which we all enjoyed. It was game night and we had the opportunity to pay board and card games before and after the meal service. After the meal we took the opportunity to use the axe throwing setup near the restaurant. That was fun for all. We then went for a walk through the maple trees to see the gravity flow piping that has been installed for the syrup flow in the spring. Thank you Simon and team for making this a memorable night for us.

Yelp
I am a vegetrian and my wife is vegan so we looked for a vegetrian sugar-shack (Cabane sucre), my boss recommanded this place and it was perfect. You have to book in advance since they do get filled fast, we actully booked 1 month in advance (the closest date possible), and if you are a vegan mark it during the booking to help them to help you :) . The food was great, some things were amazing, some just ok but the overall expirience was AMAZING. Its a small place (max 30 people), so it gives you a fun family vibe. They speak French and English and will do everything they can so you will have fun. In winter there is Axe throwing and you actully go to the woods to help the transfer the sap from the trees to the tube system that leads to the place they burn it. A real expirience. they also have frisbe golf but I assume its more for the summer. A wonderfull place do go there !
