La Cabane Des Praz

I had dinner at the restaurant with my partner. The atmosphere immediately impressed me in a positive way: very beautiful, well cared for, and traditional, with wooden structures that create a typical and pleasant setting. The real highlight of the experience was the service. In particular, the waiter who looked after us was extremely professional, kind, and attentive. The level of service was excellent and had a significant positive impact on the evening. We chose the “La Cabane” menu at €60, which includes three courses. As a starter, we ordered oysters and reblochon fondant nems. For the main course, I chose the fish of the day, salmon served with vegetables, while my partner had the Angus steak. For dessert, we chose a crème brûlée and an apple tarte tatin with ice cream. The dishes were well presented and overall good, but in terms of flavor they did not particularly stand out to me. Nothing negative, but nothing truly memorable either. The portions seemed rather small, especially considering the price of the menu and the number of courses. The side dishes were acceptable but not very flavorful. Bread was served with the oysters, accompanied by salted butter, and later during the meal we were also given two small bread rolls. While appreciated, the overall quantity still felt limited in relation to the price. The waiting times felt quite long, even though the restaurant was not completely full, including for simple courses such as starters and desserts. We ordered two bottles of water and one glass of wine, for a total bill of €146. Considering this amount, in my opinion the value for money was not fully balanced. A personal note: during the evening, I felt that the indoor temperature was not particularly warm, at least during the winter season. I do not consider this a negative point; it is probably a local custom related to the area and the time of year, especially since many guests arrive dressed for cold weather. My only suggestion is to dress accordingly. In conclusion, my experience was overall good thanks to the beautiful setting and, above all, the excellent service, but the small portions, flavors that were good but not distinctive, and long waiting times slightly reduced my overall impression in relation to the price.

Beautiful setting, disappointing food and service. The fries were hard, hollow, overcooked and cold (see picture). Vegetables were mushy and served cold with my steak. Escargot was burned and too rubbery. As soon as I pointed this out, they stopped serving us entirely. Stopped serving our wine and water. Didn’t even get our coats. The manager offered to waive 6 escargot worth 12 euro on a bill that came to nearly 250. No wonder the restaurant was half empty on a Friday night. Go somewhere else.

Tucked away in a peaceful corner of Chamonix near the golf course, this place is a true hidden gem. The food is exceptional, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. Service is warm and professional without being overbearing. A perfect spot to recharge — it will lift your spirits and leave you ready to take on the next day’s adventure. Highly recommended.

The restaurant was very busy, but it would have been nice if a server had come to check on us after we were served to see if we wanted anything. We asked 2 servers for mayonnaise that never arrived. A server came to pour our wine when she saw me get up to fill empty glasses. This only happened once and I thought that perhaps she preferred to look after top-ups. After further periods of empty glasses, we topped ourselves up which wasn't a problem, but just inconsistent. VERY minor niggles, but overall a great venue, great food and staff.

A delicious meal served by friendly staff in a beautiful situation on the very smart Chamonix golf club surrounded by mountains

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant La Cabane des Praz in Chamonix ski resort, France. A magical atmosphere in a cozy wooden cabin surrounded by snow, enhanced by charming Christmas decorations. The service was friendly, attentive, and accommodating, even lending me a snow brush for my car. The food was delightful: the scallop tartare was beautifully presented and flavorful, the poultry with creamy morel mushroom sauce was tasty (though the skin could have been crispier), and the apple crumble dessert was fresh and delicious. A wonderful experience overall—highly recommended! (I didn’t pay, so I can’t comment on the pricing.)

The restaurant had loud music in the evening completely out of sync with the architecture and atmosphere of the place. There were at least 4 birthday celebrated with even louder music played while cakes with sparkles were served. I found it shocking and utterly disrespectful vis a vis the victims in Crans Montana. A bit of common sense would have been appreciated.

I booked a table for a group of 7, and had special requests including a high chair for a baby my friend had with her. The best spot with a view in the restaurant, everything waiting ready when we arrived! The ambience was super cozy, the attendants were super friendly, food was delicious! I cannot wait to return once the sun is out again to enjoy the view from the terrace. It has an unobstructed view of the mountain and the golf course, but it was raining so we couldn't sit outside. You won't regret your visit!

Robot service à la Mc Donald's This restaurant has excellent food, however I can not give it a 5 out of 5 because the service is so Mc Donald's like it's embarrassing. I know some people like this. I do not. In such a nice restaurant the servers should be warm and welcoming not acting like robots. If this is not a problem for you then I do recommend it. The interior is really nice and cosy, very thought through. The view of the mountain is stunning but like I said, the service is not.

Amazingly cozy with fireplaces. Tableside Raclette is hearty and convivial. Great place to eat after a hard day of skiiing.

Lovely restaurant with a superb terrace overlooking Mont Blanc. Alpine chalet but very contemporary design. We arrived at 1420hrs and staff very friendly and helpful and sat us for lunch. We were able to order off the set menu which at 29 Euro was exceptional value. Would definitely suggest this venue for a sunny day although if eating inside you still won't be disappointed. Never made to feel we had to rush and left well after 1600hrs. French onion soup delicious and we all tried the 7 hour slow cooked lamb. Melt in the mouth.

We ate here at the recommendation of the manager of the hotel we were staying at. We're glad we went. It was a very lovely restaurant, with lots of options on the menu. We had the veggie risotto and the cheese fondue. The staff were extremely friendly and spoke English well. The prices were reasonable, too!
