France’s Cap Ferret Is Far More Than the ‘French Hamptons’ | Condé Nast Traveler

"I arrived at La Cabane D’Hortense as the sun was low and found a grove‑like enclave overlooking the Conche du Mimbeau; owner Khalid Zamrani, dressed head to toe in white cotton, has cultivated a 'zen space' where he laughs with regulars, teases newcomers and often joins guests — the team farms and serves oysters (half a dozen for less than £9, paired with a glass of rosé for about £3) and the atmosphere felt inclusive, relaxed and personal." - Johny Pitts

This seafood restaurant in Cap Ferret is always my first choice! The ingredients are super fresh, supplied daily in limited quantities to keep the quality high. The outdoor terrace faces the bay with views of boats, seagulls, and even the Dune du Pilat. Unlike many places in the area with irregular hours, this one is reliably open every time I visit. If you’re looking for an elegant and comfortable setting, this is definitely the best place

One of the best spots for fresh seafood — oysters are simply amazing! The waiters are super friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed yet chic, and the view is stunning. A charming cabane with a touch of elegance. Highly recommended!

It is a nice restaurant where they offer oisters and shrimps and some little other all flushed with good white wine and a fantastic view of the Arcachon bay. If you like oisters is a must go.

The menu, concise and elegantly presented on a quaint blackboard, offers oysters, prawns, sea snails 🐌 and a curated choice between a bottle of white or rosé. Nestled in a picturesque setting, this gem boasts an exquisite selection of local fare complemented by warm, attentive service. A rainy day here and this lunch turned into a delightful feast. An essential destination for all shellfish enthusiasts – highly recommended! Attentive staff, amazing terrace and fantastic view!

The best oysters of our whole trip! La Cabane d’Hortense served the freshest and most flavorful oysters we had during our entire holiday. The view across the bay is breathtaking, and even with a bit of rain, the setting felt intimate and romantic. Service was quick and friendly, and the white wine paired perfectly with the seafood. I loved watching the tide slowly shift while we ate – such a peaceful, memorable experience. Highly recommended if you’re in Cap Ferret!

We chose this place to try our first oysters and what can we say? It was delicious! We had the small starter pack of 6 oysters, as well as crevetes (shrimps) and a homemade bread spread made from pork, alongside a glass of white wine. Everything tasted fresh and very fine, the staff was very friendly to both us and our dog. The place itself is on the first line to beachfront and offers a view of the Arcachon bassin and the Dune of Pilat.

Stunning classic restaurant, beautiful food and presentation, order the mussels, fish and fries. Dessert list is the longest I’ve ever seen, really good ice creams “glaces”.
