Seafood par excellence This a specialist seafood restaurant in the outer reaches of Dakar but it was on the beach - Senegalese life was in front of you with fishing boats in the distance It is unpretentious but eye catching decor adds to its allure The service is slow but just sit back and embrace the ambiance and location and let the food speak and it was exceptional. We had a tartare of dourade with orange and it was quality - fresh flavoursome and and there was effort in its presentation. We followed that with tiger prawns simply grilled - excellent

Great place on the beach. Can sit outside on benches on the sand or inside if you want more formal setting. Nice view across to Ngor. Friendly staff, good food - filet of fish very good, fish tartar as well. Prices good, nice selection of rums. It’s a meeting place for people to go surfing and fishing so always something going on, relaxed atmosphere. Try it you’ll not be disappointed!

I don't say this often but the food was terrible. If you are looking for any type of flavor or seasoning this is not the place for you. For an appetizer we had the smoked marlin which was good, but the waiter really sold the Karao (fish) as an entree. He said it was his favorite and was so delicious, etc. It was absolutely terrible. It had no taste (not even salt) and was overcooked. We will definitely focus on only places with traditional Senegalese food for the rest of this trip. The only good points would be that dining on the terrace has a nice breeze and you can enjoy the ocean air on the beach.

Fresh fish and shellfish - some of it from tanks inside the restaurant - served simply and well. Lots of seating inside, with outside tables a good spot for beach watching. Ideal before or after a trip to the island.

We spent five wonderful days in Dakar at La Cabane du Pêcheur. The room was clean and had everything we needed, including a cute balcony. The food and location were excellent. Khalil was very friendly and always very helpful! :) Since there's a bar next door, it was a bit noisy at times in the evenings, but this didn't bother us too much. We'd love to come back soon!

The rooms directly on the beach are big and clean, the whole place so chill, the service and food amazing. Beach Vibes all day long. Best stay in Dakar!

Definitely a place worth visiting. We had cray fish here. Absolutely delicious. You choose your own cray fish from their in-house boat. They weigh it for you and cook for you while you wait. You can also go fishing and bring in your catch and they will cook it for you at a fee and add sides for it. The service was good and the atmosphere was excellent. I mean so long as the beach is by your side and withing your view and reach,how can the atmosphere not be perfect.. Quite a gem and place worth visiting in Dakar.

La Cabane du Pêcheur is one of those easy, unpolished gems by the sea. It’s a little tucked away near Ngor beach, but once you get there, it’s rustic tables, feet in the sand, waves crashing in the background. Beach tables fill up quickly so arrive early to avoid disappointment. I had the grilled lobster—fresh and cooked beautifully—but it lacked that garlicky, buttery flavour I was craving. The homemade chips, though, were delicious. Choosing your lobster fresh and seeing it weighed before cooking definitely adds to the experience. The place is popular with families, especially on weekends. It’s a lively, communal, vibe full of local energy. Expect a few craft sellers walking around offering handmade goods and there’s some wonderful art to look at next door. Service is friendly and attentive. It’s the spot for a relaxed lunch or sunset moment. Plus, you can catch a boat across to Ngor Island just steps away for 1,000 CFA round trip. The boats leave frequently and the short ride adds to the bliss of the day. Highly recommended
