Only open weekdays, you gotta book by phone, but if you want a decedent French experience in what feels like a subterranean wine cellar, this is it.

What a beautiful night at Le Cache au Vin French Restaurant! I went for my birthday with my mum and son and we had an absolutely wonderful evening. From the outside Le Cache au Vin looks unassuming… like a simple office building… but once you step inside it feels like entering a beautiful rustic cave somewhere in France… with dim lights, and stone walls lined with bottles of wine. The atmosphere is very warm, relaxed and elegant. The tables are well spaced out to provide a feeling of dining intimacy, yet still interconnected with a room full of cheerful diners enjoying their meals at other tables. We felt like we were in our own private dining bubble… yet the unobtrusive sounds of enjoyment of others in the room really added to our beautiful experience. From the moment we walked in the door the service was impeccable. They addressed us by name, acknowledged my birthday, took our coats, engaged in friendly conversation and led us to the table. The wait staff were appropriately attentive with no question or request being too much trouble. And I love that all the staff are French! We started by sharing the Prawn and Basil Spring Rolls, which were divine! Followed by the Escargot…. delicate and absolutely delicious. Then we each enjoyed a Cheese Soufflé… which was a rich creamy taste sensation. The flavour and texture was absolutely amazing. Our mains were, Beef Bourginon with honey glazed carrots and mash, Red Emperor with artichokes, and The Confit of Duck with honey and raisins and white cabbage. Each meal was beautifully prepared… cooked to perfection… and presented in traditional French style. There were lots of “oohs” and “aaahs” sharing a taste of each others dish. Then for dessert we enjoyed Crème Brûlée, Apple Puff Pastry, and my son had a duo of icecream which brought a big smile to his face. Our experience went for well over three and a half hours. We really indulged in a lot of different dishes. Everything was well spaced out. Nothing was rushed. And our waiter flowed to the timing of our needs beautifully. We had such a wonderful night… a perfect way to celebrate my birthday with loved ones. This was my second time dining here… and the experience has been consistently exceptional. I’ll be sure to come back more often and will highly recommend to others. Thank you to all the staff for making my night so special. I couldn’t imagine a more enjoyable way to spend my birthday 🙏

After having La Cache à Vin on my dining wish list for ages, I finally had the chance to visit on a Friday night, a rare treat since we usually go out on Saturdays. Luckily, they had space for a late booking, and although we were seated at the bar, it turned out to be a great spot. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, and it was a real treat watching the team craft cocktails while we enjoyed some truly impressive French cuisine. If you plan to visit, come hungry, everything is good. The extensive wine list alone is worth a read, full of French gems and thoughtfully chosen drops. We opted for a 2022 Mercurey 1er Cru ‘Clos Tonnerre’ by Michel Juillot, which was beautifully full bodied with concentrated fruit, a lovely mineral edge, and firm but ripe tannins. A seriously good match for the meal ahead. As expected in a proper French restaurant, the bread was excellent, fresh, delicious, and generously topped up throughout the meal. For entrée, we started with the Salmon ‘Gravlax style’ with horseradish cream. It was beautifully presented, light, and perfectly sliced, with a clean, fresh flavour. My only small wish was for a touch more horseradish cream to give it that extra kick. For mains, we shared the Slow-cooked beef pithivier with caramelised shallots and red wine jus, accompanied by green beans with garlic and parsley. The pithivier was rich and hearty, the pastry gorgeously flaky, and the sauce packed full of flavour — a real standout dish and definitely large enough to share. We followed with a cheese plate, which was a slight let-down compared to the rest of the meal. It felt a bit of an afterthought, served with just some toasted bread and fruit paste, and missing that sense of theatre or variety you often get with modern cheese boards. Dessert, however, brought things right back up — the Chocolate Bavarois with red fruits, was rich, indulgent, and utterly moreish. Paired with a glass of dessert wine, it was the perfect finish to the evening. All in all, La Cache à Vin delivers a classic French dining experience right in the heart of Spring Hill. Whether it’s a date night, a long dinner with friends, or a business meal, it hits the mark beautifully. I’ll definitely be back when the menu changes, though I do wish they’d open on Saturdays too!

A Truly French Gem – La Cache à Vin Dining at La Cache à Vin was an unforgettable experience that truly transported me to France. From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere set the tone—elegant, understated, and authentic. The decor is refined and sober, evoking the charm of a classic French hideaway. The service was impeccable: quiet, professional, and genuinely friendly. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, always ready to help with a warm smile. As for the name, La Cache à Vin—which translates to “the hide of wine”—it couldn’t be more fitting. Their wine list is extensive, beautifully curated, and caters to a wide range of budgets. Whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur or simply enjoy a good glass, you’ll find something to love. Their cocktails were also surprisingly good, adding a fresh twist to the evening. We chose the dégustation menu, and every dish was a delight. Each plate was artfully presented and bursting with flavour. The pacing between courses was just right, allowing us to savour each dish without ever feeling rushed. In short, La Cache à Vin is a little piece of France hidden away, perfect for anyone who loves refined food, great wine, and warm hospitality. I can’t wait to return.

An absolute gem! My partner and I finally had dinner at La Cache à Vin after wanting to try it for a long time, and it completely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we stepped in to the moment we left, everything was perfect. The beautiful, cave-style interior creates such a warm and intimate atmosphere. The service was great, our waitress Linda was attentive, friendly, and made us feel very welcome. We shared the prawn and basil spring roll and the foie gras to start, both full of flavour. We then shared the cheese soufflé au Kirsh and the homemade duck rillettes as entrées following by the roasted lamb rack and chicken ballotine and every dish was executed flawlessly 😊 We also finished with a crème brûlée that was just divine This has been our best french dining experience in Australia so far, even my partner who is a professional chef and very picky, was impressed. A solid 10/10 in every aspect. We will definitely be back ❤️

We had our wedding anniversary dinner here. We love the rustic the restaurant looks and feels. All the staff were very tentative and there to make our night extra special. All the food we ordered was amazing. The wines that were recommended were excellent choices. We will definitely be back to try other dishes on the menu. Highly recommended

We started with foie gras and oysters for appetizers. The oysters were fresh, though two of them had small pieces of shell left inside, which was a bit unexpected. The sauce had a pleasant sweet and tangy balance. After the appetizers, the staff thoughtfully replaced our plates and cutlery. The service was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. I ordered the cocktail “Lady in Green” — it had a refreshing sour and spicy kick, followed by a subtle sweet aftertaste. The escargot was absolutely delicious, highly recommended! A lovely dining experience overall, both in flavor and service. Will definitely visit again!
