Tried La Cambusa for dinner and was blown away by their pasta and view of the water! We ordered a few pastas to share in the middle, and they all were fantastic. The view sitting in Positano over the beach was equally spectacular, combining to make a wonderful experience. Service was good and fast, and the seating area had some great summer vibes as well. Also had easy and close access to the markets as well. Highly recommend this spot!

Google
La Cambusa is wonderful and especially flexible with our time of reservation change. Our server, Osvaldo, was fantastic he remembered us as soon as we returned and provided exceptional service. Our food was excellent and we were able to order desserts to go for dessert later on our balcony as the portions were generous and we could not fit dessert at the time of dinner. Please try, you will be so happy!!

Google
The left, front corner table is in my opinion one of best seats to watch Positano going about the busy tourist season. The view is spectacular and your out of the hustle and bustle on the second floor overlooking the ferries coming and going and the many boats that dot the harbor. Food was good, service was little slow but that was fine and we just sat, observed and enjoyed our meal and our day!!!

Google
Lovely location right on the beach. Was extremely busy, but they found us a nice table. We found the food to be of a good standard, but nothing fancy. Service was attentive and speedy. The price was expensive, but that’s what you get being on the beach in Positano.

Google
RACIST, RUDE, & UNDERCOOKED: Upon arrival, we were told we MUST order 1 main dish each. We watched on after sitting, no other guests were told this. Throughout the dinner, the host kept uttering statements under his breath. Then to pay, we were the only table told to pay at the front. All other tables were brought the machine. (All other guests happened to be Caucasian). When we brought this attention to the lady at the front, she could care less. Half the clams in the Vongole were either closed and/or smelled off.

Google
This is a great spot for a restaurant. We enjoyed the view from our table. The service was good. Our food was good but we had better for cheaper. It was pretty pricey but we still had a nice meal.

Google
Small portion and overpriced for the taste and service. I really liked my seafood pasta but this restaurant is not a glamorous one. It's just expensive without a professional service. Prices of wines are ridiculous.

Google
We had lunch here twice during our stay in Positano and overall enjoyed the food and experience. The caprese, lasagna, fried calamari, grilled calamari and the gnocchi were all quite tasty. The lemoncello spritz was also delicious. My only critique would be the service. The staff was not overly friendly or attentive. Both times we ate there, no one ever asked how our food tasted or if we needed anything else. Even given that, I would still eat here again.

Yelp
Such a cute spot right on the beach! Had the most affordable menu and the pasta was deliciously al dente and spicy. My partner got the pesto pasta and loved it as well though I thought it was too minty. Overall lovely spot for a lunch. Nothing memorable to note about the staff but they were overall quick!

Yelp
Filling dinners, although maybe not the most flavorful spaghetti we've had in the area, the lasagna and ravioli were good. Service was good, the views nice. Very much appreciated, it seemed they were the only place open for an early dinner down by the beach. Most restaurants seem to open for dinner after 6:30-7....(hard for us early-birds).

Yelp
Downright rude service. Bus boys were great by the server was rude and not personable. He wanted us to order all at once, recommended a cheap wine. He dared to note the bill did not include service. Really?! Octopus was good. Fish was super salty! About 75% of the restaurant was empty. Yelp review was bad but recommended by a colleague. Wont do it again....

Yelp
This place doesn't have the greatest reviews and I'm not sure why... our pasta was excellent and the service quick and friendly. For being in the busy part by the beach I'd call that a win.

Yelp
I asked for bud light and barbecue biscuits and he said no because your blind and white and it was not In brail. unprofessional server not letting a blind man have the same opportunitys as everyone else and he made of my retarded brother and called him gay

Yelp
Came here for lunch and was craving some pasta! They had exactly what I wanted and really enjoyed it! Nice spot near the beach so a great view of the water! The workers were all very nice and helpful! I got the pesto pasta and loved it! Pesto had great taste and bread was great to dip in the sauce! Filling and a decent price for the view and food! Good experience

Yelp
One of the best plates of pasta I had in two weeks of traveling through Italy. The monkfish pasta which I can't believe I ordered at the advise of the waiter was absolutely delicious. Trust me and try it.

Yelp
Good location on the Positano water front but it is cramped space and like everywhere in Positano, overpriced. But once there you have to eat somewhere ! Food was good and large portions. Service was swift but not particularly friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Right at the bottom of the stairs as you walk down to Positano's beachfront, you will see La Cambusa on the right side. They have a large patio with a great view of the sea and the beach, a great place to people watch under the shade. We ordered some seafood: I had a spaghetti with shrimp and my husband ordered a white fish in lemon sauce. Both were very tasty. My shrimp were the large shrimps that also had little claws like mini lobsters! The interior is decorated with pastel colors. The food was good and view was very nice!

Yelp
Service was not great but the pasta amatriciana was amazing! Good location and very close to Spiaggia Grande. Prices were also pretty fair given the location, worth a try if you're hungry and in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent lasagna!!! Don't miss it!! And don't be afraid to ask for what you want ... we saw the waiters bring out a tray of fresh fish they had in the kitchen for the table next to us to pick out and specify how they wanted prepared. I'm sure that is not the normal, but the great staff was willing to provide that level of service to prepare a great meal! Don't miss this gem in the mix of all the restaurants down at the beach!!

Yelp
This is a NOT recommend for both food & service. So many other great restaurants in area. One person liked their meal of lobster with spaghetti. Other fish was over done & tasteless. Service was really poor even though their were few other diners. Some at table ordered appetizers & others did not. Appetizers were brought out with main course for those who did not get apps. Made dining awkward. Really not a good experience.

Yelp
I enjoyed this place. Amazing location with a great view and the food was tasty. I got the bolognese which came out great and everyone I was with enjoyed their meals too. Service was a little slow but nothing to downgrade this nice little spot too much. If you get a chance check out Positano it's pretty amazing in general.

Yelp
La Cambusa is in a wonderful location in Positano, with a spectacular view of the beach. My husband and I were immediately drawn to La Cambusa because of it's vegetarian friendly menu. Unlike some of the other reviews, we had no issue with the waitstaff, and were seated near a window overlooking the water. Everyone was extremely friendly, too! We ordered the pasta aglio, olio and peperoncino (pasta with garlic olive oil and chilly), and the pasta al pesto genovese di basilico o di rughetta (pasta with "pesto" made from basil o rocket / rucola) - I'm not sure what those latter ingredients were. The pasta aglio, olio and peperoncino was cooked slightly al dente but the flavor was absolutely divine. With it's garlic olive oil base, it made for a lighter pasta that you could easily enjoy. The pasta al pesto genovese di basilico o di rughetta was also delicious but I found myself picking more at my husband's dish. The portions here are HUGE (as they are in most of Italy, if we're being honest), so come hungry.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday night around 730pm. The host was very nice to us, immediately knew we were tourist. One thing we noticed in Europe is, they will bring "free" things to the table then make you pay for them when you get the bill. So beware, if you don't want to pay, TELL THEM YOU DONT WANT IT. Decor: I liked their outside patio, you can enjoy the weather and the beach. Nice scenery at night and can be considered romantic. The inside was open to with big windows to look out, for those who don't want to be outside. Food: I had lobster pasta, 29 euros. The lobster was very good! The pasta was not cooked thoroughly, it was slightly hard like it needed to be in the water for a bit longer. The pasta was still good but I probably would've gave four stars if the pasta was cooked well. My friends had crab pasta, they literally put a crab shell on top. There was no crab in the pasta. And theirs was more than mine. 32 euros Their oysters are also $6 each. Seemed like the normal price considering right off the coast. I'm not sure if I'd return if I come back to Positano.

Yelp
Mediocre food and service. The mixed seafood grill was an interesting selection of fruits of the sea. Originally, they probably represented good quality ingredients, however they were absolutely slaughtered during the preparation process. Leathery squid and calamari. Everything was over oiled. Quality portions of fish, missing. I would have been more satisfied with a can of tuna. The wait staff were indifferent, if not rude. A good quality food revolution needs to sweep over Positano and wash such mediocrity away.

Yelp
I'm not sure what the negative reviews are about. My family had one of the most memorable and delicious meals in Italy here, and we are picky! Service was gracious, the views were spectacular, prices reasonable for location, and the food, HEAVENLY, all cooked perfectly al dente. My husband had the linguine alla vongole. He said you usually only have pasta left at other places but they were so generous with the clams and they were so tasty, he had plenty to devour until the last noodle was eaten. My amatriciana's tomato sauce was so al dente and the tomato sauce was so fresh, there was no need to ruin it with a shovel of cheese. The meatballs were to DIE FOR. Seriously we had ordered a mountain of the stuff. The restaurant looks alarmingly like a tourist trap but in our humble opinion, is anything but. If you're in Positano, this place is a classic. (And the plates! You'll know what I mean when you see them. So regionally perfect and memorable. We took photos of them along with the views!)

Yelp
On the beach This restaurant is on the beach in Positano with a decent view. If the waiters don't like you or the color of your skin they may not give you a "front row" table. The waiters tend to be a bit stand-offish as well. Also they do not offer you balsamic vinegar and olive oil for the bread. You really have to ask with authority and then very unwillingly they may give it to you. Beware of the water trap. They ask if you would like water and if you say yes then out comes a big bottle and before you can refuse they have opened it and charged you 4 Euros. They also have 3 Euro cover charge. So this part of the experience was a bummer. You are well informed now. Be alert. The eggplant parmigiana is very tasty and made quite differently than in the USA or other parts of Europe. The portion is small. The spaghetti with Zucchini is excellent as well. It is the oil and the combination of onions and zucchini that does the trick. Over all an average experience. Price tag for two was in the 40Euro range.

Yelp
Pretty good food, pretty overpriced. Much easier to eat here for lunch if you have reservations, as it gets pretty busy. More of an upscale place for sure. One fatal flaw that stuck out in my mind was that I tried ordering tiramisu to go because someone wanted me to bring it back for them at the hotel, and the waiter told me that it wouldn't be possible because they didn't have anything to put food in to go. Absolutely puzzling for a restaurant like this.

Yelp
Wow, I can't speak for everything here but the Lasagna is incredible. My friend got the Spaghetti al mare and seems to be enjoying it. Great view of the ocean and beach from here.

Yelp
Came here for dinner around 8:30pm. We were pleased to be seated right away in terrace seating with lovely view. Service was great. Bottles of wine seemed over priced, even for house wine (touristy premium) They brought over bread with oil and balsamic. We had the shrimp and avocado cocktail (they ran out of avocados) so it was just tiny shrimp on lettuce leaves with a lot of mayonnaise type dressing. For main, we had the fettuccini Bolognese and the seafood risotto (with mussels, scampi in shell, and octopus ) . This restaurant (along with a couple others) claim a 'Michelin' star in the window, - clearly not. The food was ok- not great, not awful- just ok. Heavy salted risotto and bland Bolognese. The bill was presented with an extra €6 for a cover charge?! We weren't told about a charge upon entering - but it was a sneaky add to the bill- not cool

Yelp
Recommended by our hotel. This restaurant has less ambiance than others in the general area. We ordered and waited and waited and waited. There were only two tables of people. The other a table arrived after us but got all their food before us, and we waited. No offer for more drinks, no approach by the waiter. After one hour and only having the appetizer, we left. Highly DON'T recommend

Yelp
Excellent!! Just arrived to Positano, wasn't sure and everything was awesome! Great wine choice suggested by our waiter (not pricey)! Risotto seafood dish, zucchini spaghetti! Great people watching! Great staff!!

Yelp
Located in front of the sea, this restaurant has N excellent assortment of food, drink, and desserts. Excellent seafood Italian food. Good service, but not a luxurious place
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
We just spent $500 euros on a meal. We aren't cheap but seriously, a €480 bottle of wine? This place ain't that classy. I was frustrated they didn't bring out olive oil automatically. They didn't greet us when we walked in. The wine menu wasn't organized by type or region and listed the priciest wines first. The food was severely lacking in flavor. It's like the philosophy was "dumb tourists won't know the difference between authentic food and our version of Italian food. The crab pasta for example had a tiny portion of meat.

Jose V.

Yelp
This restaurant was nasty. The employees were all drunk. I ordered the scialatielli fruitt it didn't have any seafood. It didn't have clams lobster shellfish. It was very salty I didn't enjoy this at all. We ordered two of those. I ordered the fritto misto it was soggy and not fresh. It was very disappointing. We payed 122 euros. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. Unless u want a bunch of drunk dudes serving u salty food with no ingredients and soggy old food and charging you full price.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch. Beautiful view of the water. Mellow piano music playing with a light cross breeze to breakup the summer heat. As to food, it was good but a notch below other Italian restaraunt's we have been to in the Positano central shopping/dining area. Out of 4 entree's 1 was perfect and the other 3 were just fine - nothing extraordinary. For example the lettuce in the salad still seemed wet from being washed but the tomatoes were fresh and delicious. Wait service was fine too but not as friendly or attentive as we've also seen. This was the first (and only time so far in Italy) where the waiter went out of his way to tell us that gratuity was not included in the check and were expected tip in cash outside of the bill.
google avatar

Geoff D.

Yelp
Of the 3 I visited on the beach, this ranks #3, and I will tell you why....horrible service... 1. food was decent. I got the bruschetta as an app, and the mussels in pepper as my entree for a light lunch. I've had better bruschetta, the mussels were very fresh and very good....I guess to be expected from a beach restaurant in Positano. 2. Service could not have been worse! The waiter literally made eye contact with me 4 times and walked right past me. He clearly knew a couple at another table and was very overconsumed with them. On top of that they had multiple servers who seemed plesant enought, but not attentive at all! 3. Great venue being on the beach, but would pick other places based on service.

Yelp
I'm not sure why this place has low reviews considering my experience with them. This review is a little bit late but still relevant. After making my way down the twisty pathways of Positano, I came to an opening where I saw the beach and La Cambusa. There was another fine dining restaurant across the way but because I wasn't able to understand the menu, I choose La Cambusa lunch instead. As I was looking at their menu stand, I was greeted friendly server who gave me recommendations and said he was able to seat me right away. Initially, I was seated on the outside of the restaurant with no view, but after requesting to move, they quickly showed me to a table inside. I ordered the tuna tartar and an oyster as my appetizer. Both were super fresh and I was really blown away by the quality and size of the tuna tartar. For the entree I ordered frutti di mare which was equally as good. Pasta was al dente and the seafood was plenty. I wish I could remember the name of my server but he was very attentive, stopping by often, and I never felt like I had to hound anyone down. I took my time taking in the delicious food and spectacular view. If I make another trip to Positano, I would definitely dine here again!

Yelp
Terrible. We walked In and were sat 1 row away from the windows. A party had just left and seeing as to how we had just arrived I asked if I could be moved. I was told "no". When I asked why, they responded it was on "hold". I proceeded to ask when the hold was for and to my surprise they said "1hr from now".... seriously! Terrible service and the food was mediocre! Say away!
google avatar

Tari S.

Yelp
Nope! Appetizer, salads and fish were not good at all. In fact we couldn't even eat the fish because it had zero flavor, the mashed potatoes tasted funny and the asparagus was over cooked. Yuck! Service was mediocre but view was beautiful. Very unfortunate since we were staying right by it.
google avatar

Mia C.

Yelp
Excellent! Had lunch today, we had the shrimp, caprese, zucchini blossoms, pasta and dessert. New owner as of about a month ago!

Sofi S.

Yelp
We came to this restaurant based on all the reviews we saw on trip advisor and other sites. The location is great and right on the beach with view available with almost any where you are seated. The menu has a decent selection of seafood to chose from. I ordered the special of the day which was pasta with rock fish. My mother got the spaghetti with clams and we also ordered calamari. The prices are about 30 Euros per plate and the size is a little small. My pasta had about an 2 ounces of rock fish which was disappointing. Over all an average restaurant with very average food, small portions and great view.
google avatar

Madison B.

Yelp
Absolutely loved our food! The view was a definite plus! I had pasta with clams and mussels. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce topped everything though! I would definitely recommend this place!
google avatar

Vessi V.

Yelp
Great service and great views. Best spaghetti and meatballs we had in all of Italy. The meatballs melt in your mouth. My husband had to eat here for our last lunch in Positano to enjoy the spaghetti and meatballs again.
google avatar

Stacy S.

Yelp
The best pasta with clams on the planet! With a nice view too of the beach and foot traffic. This is the perfect place for lunch while strolling and shopping. The service is quick and food reliable - we have eaten here many times.
google avatar

Thu P.

Yelp
The food was pretty basic. The pasta tasted good. I just wouldn't recommend it considering how much it costs to eat there. We paid €44 for two pasta dishes and a bottle of water (including €6 sit down fee)!!
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
This would have to be the worst restaurant we have experienced in Italy Firstly the staff were arrogant and non caring The raw fish was terrible ,the shellfish came cold , the sea bass poorly cooked and way overpriced , and the side dish of cooked spinach was cold and not nice. On leaving we told them of our concerns , they said sorry and then they laughed it off as a joke To sum up give this place a wide berth!! There are so many better restaurants to choose in positano than here,

Bailey G.

Yelp
View is great, service and food was not very good. Would definitely recommend other restaurants over this one.
google avatar

Lana B.

Yelp
I have been coming here every year for 15 years. Everyone knew your name. It was a pleasant atmosphere. Now it has been sold to Bar Bruno. Not the same atmosphere. Not once did she the new owner come over to introduce herself. Food was ok. Not sure the same chef is there now.
google avatar

Aman S.

Yelp
I had the lasagna which was pretty amazing.... the view from the second floor seating area, facing the ocean is pretty nice too. They also have a good wine selection. I recommend this place in Positano.

Serena D.

Yelp
Tourist trap. Stay away ! Terrible wine, led lighting, mozzarella that was uneatable (and this is Italy!). And very high prices. Nice staff, but bad food.

Mike W.

Yelp
Tourist trap built for Americans right down to the server grating Parmesan cheese Olive Garden style and the tip line included on the credit card receipt. They have mastered the middle class American palette. It sits right on the beach on a second floor with great views of the ocean. The price is modest compared to other Positano spots, but you pay for what you get. The 2 Recommended fish entrées were both blah, one drowning in a lemon sauce, the other with fish cooked well done. Not recommended for the food, but staff was so nice, and views are great.

Parker B.

Yelp
This place is what it is. Good food and high prices given its great location. We had an enjoyable time but there are better places to eat.
google avatar

Megan G.

Yelp
My mother and I dined here our first night in Positano. It is incredibly deceptive that La Cambusa has been a Michelin guide restaurant the past three years because it was arguably the most appalling dining experience I've ever had. It is a shame that some of the dishes we ordered were quite tasty because the incredibly poor service completely ruined the meal. To start, we were seated at a horribly positioned table without a view while the restaurant was empty. When we requested to move to one of the 7 open tables with views of the ocean, they said they were reserved - wonder how that works considering we ourselves had a reservation and yet were placed at such a sub-par table. After being seated, it took 20 minutes for someone to come over and take our order (and the restaurant was still empty). The prosciutto, melon, and burrata appetizer was delicious. The grilled vegetables included a nice variety, but were too oily. The tagliatelle ragu was fantastic. Sadly the veal parmesan was not. However, not a single person came over to ask us how our food was during both the first and second courses. It took at least 30 minutes to get our entrees after finishing appetizers, while several tables who were seated significantly later than us received their entrees before us. It is very clear that the staff is selective in choosing which tables to take good care of and which tables to blatantly disregard - overall a really disappointing experience.
google avatar

Guillermo R.

Yelp
avoid this place the service is terrible we arrived (nobody helped) and the ma denis stand from our table (only for 4 people the saeed) my advice go somewhere else!

Howard S.

Yelp
I have been saving "Gourmet" magazines since the 70's and keep a file of restaurants that they recommend. We were planning a drive down the Amalfi Coast and planned to stop in Positano. I checked my "Gourmet" file and it recommended La Cambusa. This article was from May 2002. I took it with me anyway. As we walked down to the beach I wondered if La Cambuso was still there. When I looked up, believe it or not, I was standing right in front it. It was around 12:30 so we decided to have a little something which turned out to be the absolutely BEST artichoke and roasted vegetables that we ever had. Imagine how excited the owner was when I showed her the article. The restaurant is right at the base of the beach. An absolutely lovely setting. We did not have a whole meal but what we did have, including the service, was great.

Vivian R.

Yelp
View is precious!!!! Food is terrible service is horrible and they even charge you for the bread, additional for the butter and the olive oil for your salad!!!!! I won't go back!!!!!

Yelp
We were on a guided tour of Positano and Sorrento and our driver recommended we have lunch here. The first thing that you notice is the view! It is breathtaking. Almost any seat you pick, you will be looking out to the beautiful sea. Our waiter was very attentive and had our bread and water ready as soon as we sat down. We started with the fried calmaritta, which is fried baby squids. This was different than what we are used to getting in the states. They are entire baby squid bodies, including the head and eyes deep fried. They were very tender. The marinara sauce they gave was very spicy. We loved it. My wife had the seafood risotto, which had mussels, octopus, calamari, and prawns. This was hands down the best seafood risotto we had in Italy. The quality of the seafood was perfect. The octopus melted in your mouth. I had the gnocchi, which were cooked perfectly. Little clouds of heaven. We ate here and were blown away. This was before we headed to Capri, and I have to say I wish we could have came here for dinner. This was one of the best meals we had in Italy.
