My favourite restaurant in Malta ! From the amazing staff, to the exquisite food …everything was 10/10 and beyond. The staff were friendly, attentive and extremely professional. We were greeted smiles and a very welcoming ambience. The menu itself was well thought out offering a range of small plates, main dishes and desserts. Food was fresh, flavoursome and portions were perfect sized. The presentation and detail of care taken for each dish, from the breads to the mains (we didn’t have room for dessert) remained consistent throughout. We enjoyed our lunch sitting outside overlooking the water and traditional fishing boats….a postcard picture. I have visited Malta more than I can count and have dined in various restaurants across mainland Malta and Gozo…. La Capanna is by far the best.

Whatever you do, do not miss La Capanna Restaurant in Marsaxlokk, Malta! Located on the “hop on/hop off” bus red line along the Marsaxlokk harbor that is dotted with the colorful Maltese luzzo boats, this restaurant should top your Malta itinerary. The ambience is warm and the decor is characteristically Maltese with modern touches. The service is perfect. Chef Cliff and our server Danke patiently spent time answering our questions, and we enjoyed learning about Chef Cliff’s culinary background and vision. The menus have something for everyone (there is a main menu and a raw/cured menu, plus daily specials, including, of course, a selection of fresh fish). For an appetizer, our party of three shared the calamari fritti served atop a sweet curry with pickled vegetables and side of harissa mayonnaise. It was like nothing any of us had ever tasted— SO delicious. We also enjoyed the house prepared bread with herbed butter and Italian olive oil as we awaited the main course, which was well timed. Each of our entrees was equally delightful— Fish Lasagna with saffron veloute, gnocchi with wild boar ragu, and Fish of the Day with potatoes and — get this — PUMPKIN caponata. All of it was unbelievably delicious. An ample wine list and diverse dolce selection made for a perfect experience. Oh, and for those for whom this is important- the restrooms were super well kept. We are going back before we bid this Malta vacation farewell. La Capanna is first on our list of culinary experiences anywhere.

**Outstanding Seafood and Pasta at La Capanna** We visited La Capanna in Marsaxlokk on a busy Sunday lunchtime, and despite the restaurant being full, the service was impeccable from start to finish. The team managed the rush seamlessly, making us feel well taken care of throughout our meal. The crudi selection was a standout highlight—scallops, octopus, and shrimp were all incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. Each bite was a testament to the quality of the ingredients and the skill in their preparation. For mains, we shared three types of pasta, and each was phenomenal in its own right. The *spaghetti nero di seppia* with octopus bolognese was a unique and unforgettable dish, perfectly balanced in flavor. The risotto with acciola was creamy, rich, and satisfying, while the vegetarian pesto with kale was vibrant and delicious—a wonderful option for non-meat eaters. The flavors, ambiance, and service all came together to create a memorable dining experience. La Capanna is a gem in Marsaxlokk and a must-visit for anyone who appreciates high-quality seafood and pasta. We will definitely be back!

La Capanna is a wonderful choice for dining in Marsaxlokk. They have a great selection of truly fresh fish and other dishes. It was so lovely the first time, I returned today. It did not disappoint. We’ll be back again!

Overated and overpriced. We've arrived at 2pm and left at 4pm, ordering only 3 dishes (octopus, lasagna and fish of the day). Waiting 50 minutes for the starter and 50 minutes more between the starter and the main. Half bottle of local wine 19€, a normal fish, too coked octopus and 105€ in total ... The lasagna was the only good.

Good dishes, good hospitality and good atmosphere. I like their lasagna and octopus very much.

We recently dined at La Capanna in Marsaxlokk, Malta, and had an exceptional experience.
