Simply the Best Restaurant in Capri! Aurora is good, but this place is great! This is true Italian food. The pasta is homemade the clams and oranges with the pasta simply amazing and every dish is prepared with genuine love for cooking and for making people happy. Don’t get caught up in the tourist traps—come here instead. The service and friendly staff makes this place a must!! This is what a family owned restaurant looks like!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ …plus another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = a perfect 10 in my book! I come back every year!

Very nice restaurant and service. My partner got great food and was very happy but I did not like mine as it was all deepfried so not a great combo both fish and vegetables fried (fritto zucchine e calamari) but my fault I did not notice this when I ordered. We ordered house wine in a carafe that was not so good and expensive or 26 euros so we should have gotten a bottle instead. Great dessert or selection of cheese :)

Made a reservation ahead of time, which is highly recommended. Capri is very busy even in October. For first course, I ordered the ravioli Caprese-style, which was flavorful and pillowy soft but still chewy texture-wise. For mains, I had the razor clams, which were generous and probably the best I’ve ever had. Also ordered affogato capannina-style for dessert which capped off my meal nicely. Service was hospitable and warm. A must-try spot in Capri.

Best ravioli we've ever had! Super soft and fluffy with a nice cheese filling and great tomato sauce. Definitely get the ravioli if you come. They also give you a free side of veggies to munch on while waiting for your food.

If you are looking to enjoy a meal in Capri away from the typical tourist spots and prefer to dine where locals and visiting stars go, then La Capannina is a hidden gem worth discovering. Tucked away in a charming corner of the island, this welcoming and quaint restaurant offers a warm atmosphere, a thoughtfully curated menu, and truly unique food and drinks. A perfect spot for an authentic Capri experience.

The drink menu has the biggest wine selection of any restaurant on Capri. Service is 5-star and the owner even came by to say hi and ask us how everything is going. Food (minestrone soup and fettuccine with black truffle) was delicious. The Profiteroles (a pastry with ice cream between and chocolate on top) is a MUST. Small celery/carrot salad and bread come free

Great place in a very touristy capri. Very friendly, attentive service and reasonable prices comparatively in Capri. The owner himself attend to us. The food was very good as with the atmosphere. A true institution of Capri.

Amazing space and wonderful atmosphere! Grazie to our server Sonia who made a fun evening and managed our meal from beginning to end. The space is very casual yet filled with the glamorous clientele of Capri. We had a simple meal of cáprese and octopus salads and then a spaghetti with clams and filet of sole all washed down with plenty of wine! Toward the end of our meal the staff broke into song singing ABBAs "you can dance." What a great vibe and fun atmosphere!!! Well worth it and you will most definitely need a reservation.

Food had no flavor, I had to season it myself with salt just to have a little bit of something. Don't waste your time here.

Wonderful, historic, family-run restaurant. We came here our first night in Capri, and it was absolutely perfect. Beautiful ambiance, lovely service, and all the food was incredibly fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. To start, they brought us out a little flower pot full of fresh vegetables which was delightful. We had a tomato buffalo mozzarella salad to start which was amazing. My daughter had one of their specialties, the caprese ravioli, which were out of this world, and we shared a spaghetti al nerano with fried zucchini, which we have been wanting to try since we saw Stanley Tucci order it on his Searching for Italy travel show. It was everything we hoped for -- incredibly creamy, flavorful and delicious. Absolutely recommend. By the way, I read the review about the staff singing and dancing, bu that didn't happen when we were there. They said that's just for special occasions, which makes sense. But the place was packed when we were there, especially after 8 pm when most people seem to eat here. Super popular; make reservations!

Ok- they might get a better rating if I didn't try the special monk fish pasta with potatoes, which didn't have any real flavor or pop. Very disappointing. The seafood pasta was better. I really wish I would have tried their MUST ravioli. Looked interesting. The tomatoes were very fresh. The staff. Some were not very attentive but others were helpful. Prices too high for what you get for sure, but it's Capri so good luck finding anything of value for the $. FYI. The dessert the crème caramel. Sounds great right? It's flan. Don't get that mixed up especially if you don't like flan. Ambiance is ok, better for dinner, it's all indoors, and they sat us squished in a tiny table unable to even sit facing each other.

Amazing! Best Italian food we tried on the island! It was so good, we went back a second night. Everything was authentic and the seafood was very fresh. The second time we went was a Saturday night and the staff/restaurant were singing and dancing. It was so fun and had a great ambience.

Look past the hype and trust this place is worth a meal while visiting the island.

Could Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Christian Slater, Ivana Trump, Michael Douglas, Danny DeVito, Rob Schneider, Sly Stallone, Live Shreiber, Naomi Watts, George Hamilton, and Steven Tyler all be wrong? The sheer volume of star photos on the walls of Capri's La Capannina tell you something about the sort of people drawn to the isle of Capri. That they all chose to dine at La Capannina at one time or another also tells you something about the place. Despite lack of any water views, La Capannina serves up an enticing atmosphere with food and service to match. The only stars I spotted here were on the plates and in the bottle of wine on my table. Arrive here ready to enjoy yourself and you won't be disappointed. Though La Capannina displays some of the star photos on the wall outside their restaurant, many more can be found inside the restaurant itself. Look around, or head down to the restrooms to see the full display. I've only noted the names of those I recognized. But whatever you do, don't waste your time on those photos at the expense of the food itself. Whether you're on Capri for a day or a week, making time for a meal here is carving out a slice of time for enjoyment. La Capannina is down one of Capri's narrow walking streets somewhat away from the bustling tourist center. I'd set my sites on dining elsewhere but had no regrets landing here.

We had such a great lunch there! The service was excellent and everything we ate was delicious! From the moment we walked in it was perfect! We recommend the seafood salad, and definitely the house made specialty ravioli Caprese! If you are traveling and visiting Capri this is a 100% must visit

Beautiful restaurant inside - the plants give it an outside feel that is fantastic. Service is also excellent - very attentive wait team that gives you the space to enjoy your meal. The food is top class. We shared a Caprese, which was so good, followed by the "must" ravioli and the seafood pasta with clams and mussels- both delicious. We were here last year and truly enjoyed it, so we came again to experience it, and it did not disappoint our high expectations. It was AGAIN so good, we plan to have dinner there again before we leave this beautiful island.

Tucked away in the corridors of Capri is a restaurant beloved by locals and tourists alike, where the staff have lived on the island all their life and sing to you while you dine. It's Ristorante La Campannina and I can't recommend it enough. If you want traditional Caprese classics made with love with fresh ingredients then look no further. You'll find a warm dining room, beautiful food, excellent wine and a wonderful experience. There were many worthy restaurants in Capri, but this one we returned to because it was so delicious! Ask for Sonya, a local and a gem. She will give you the best experience here!

Dinner and a show! We had an incredible meal here in Capri. The food was excellent and the performance was even batter! About halfway through dinner, the entire staff walks around singing and playing small instruments. Tucked away in town, it's a lovely setting for a romantic meal on vacation. Absolutely loved it.

We ate Dinner here twice while in Capri because it was absolutely amazing. One you walk in the door your treated like family, everything is so fresh and you can tell it's all made with love. From the homemade minestrone soup to the fresh pastas & sauces to finishing it all off with one of the desserts you really can't go wrong with anything you order here.

Wow: best food so far in the bay of Naples so far. Best, the best tomatoes & burrata cheese ever! Followed by two pastas; ravioli and a black truffle pasta. Don't miss this place!

I have been very remiss in not acknowledging my favorite restaurant in Capri. It has been a few years since we were in Capri, yet for about ten years or so, we spent a few weeks on the isle of Capri, and La C, was and is simply...THE BEST! When you dine there , you are dining amongst the stars, from every part of the world, whether it be the Entertainment field or Politics or the world of Sports. The owners..Antonio and Aurelia are wonderful. They create the atmosphere that only exists in very few restaurants throughout the world. We have spent a week in Capri and have eaten at La C every night! The menu is so varied, and every dish prepared as if you were the King and Queen of the World! Bravo Antonio and Aurelia...May you continue the greatest success story in Capri. Elayne and Arthur

We've been in Italy for 2 weeks and this was the absolute best meal we had. I was with my mother and she always orders veal with lemon. She said she had never tasted a better version. Fresh lemon flavor, absolutely amazing. I chose the ravioli's. I don't usually like them but these came highly recommended. They were incredible!! The sauce was the best marinara I've ever had. If you come to Capri, you have to go here!!

I have never been so humiliated by the staff of a restaurant in my life .... As a woman ... the owner and his nephew started screaming at me because I just told them that to get in with a reservation the guy at the door was not nice... I was with my family 8 people and instead of saying sorry they told us we could leave ... I held back tears ... I can't say anything about the food because I just didn't eat ... very sad experience.. men that don't respect women and can scream at them without doing anything is very sad

This place was SO good that we ate there twice during our trip. Service and food were fabulous! And the wait staff that broke out in song mid dinner added to the fun experience!

It was fine. Cute atmosphere but food was just ok. The bread basket looked like cheap store bought bread. Portions were small, I ordered soup because it was cold and rainy, i was expecting a bowl and got a tiny cup. For 16 euro, I expected more. My husband ordered the ravioli and said it tasted like pure butter. I'm sure that's what many Americans like, but that's not our taste.

Such a beautiful restaurant. Right in the center of it all in Capri. The waiters were very attentive and took care of our every need. The minestrone soup was delicious, the swordfish fresh and delicious, and the truffle burrata as well. Pretty good prices for Capri as well. The restaurant was full so make sure to reserve. Definitely will come back!

We wanted to have a nice meal while in Capri, as we were celebrating my partner's birthday that weekend. After reading reviews that mentioned gluten free options, we settled on this place. We arrived just after they opened for dinner, around 7:30pm. We were the only ones in the restaurant for quite some time - is that still early for dinner? It was Easter Sunday, so maybe it was a strange night. Anyway, we were seated in the front near the window and given menus. I asked about gluten free, and they said they had a couple types of pasta they could use as well as gluten free bread. They brought the GF bread for me (sliced package bread, still nice to have it) and a regular bread basket for my partner as we put in our order. I went for a Caprese salad as a starter, and a gluten free pasta in a mushroom cream sauce for my main. My partner ordered the fried zucchini blossom starter and the same pasta sauce, the "glutinous' version served over freshly made pasta. The food was all good; my salad was the best Caprese I had the whole trip (and I had like five of them over three days.) The pasta was nice, though I would have liked a bit more sauce over it. My partner enjoyed his starter and said the pasta was fine. We also had the house red wine, which was reasonably priced and actually really enjoyable. The best part of the experience, though, was the service - everyone we interacted with in the restaurant was friendly and attentive. They went the extra mile in assuring my gluten free diet was catered for, which was really reassuring. I mentioned my partner's birthday as we paid the bill and they brought him a little plate with a couple tiny cookies and meringues, which was very kind. They do charge a pretty big service charge (10% I think) and cover charge, so it's good to know that going in. We had two starters, two pastas, shared a carafe of the house wine and my partner had an espresso at the end, and all totaled our bill was about 70€. We stuck to the less expensive side of the menu by not ordering meat/fish, so you could easily spend a lot for a single meal if you really went all out. Still, it was probably the nicest meal experience we had on our trip, and that's worth a lot.

Very delicious food in the heart of Capri tucked away along a walkway, if you have trouble locating the restaurant: just look for the celebrity photos displayed by the entrance of the restaurant. That's when you know: you've arrived at La Capannina. I stopped by in June 2019 for a quick early dinner sans reservation and had no problems getting a seat. This is a popular spot for couples and it will fill up as the night progresses. I prefer sitting by the window but sitting inside is nice as well! You can't go wrong with any of the pasta dishes, my favorite was the seafood pasta and be sure to ask for the catch of the day. I highly suggest ordering the fish of the day and if you love vino, La Capannina is very well known for their extensive wine list.

This is a landmark restaurant but may not deserve the accolades it has received. The wine list is excellent. When sticking to the traditional dishes (pastas, grilled fish, etc) the food was good but not exceptional. My main course of shrimp with chickpea purée was poor to the point of not wishing to finish it. The server was very accommodating when she noticed I didn't enjoy it which warrants a good review overall.

Service is horrible. Food was delicious. Food runs late. Totally ignored by wait staff. Pick somewhere with service. Not a good place for Americans. Loved the locals. Ignored us (Americans).

The Capannina has been a landmark restaurant in Capri forever. Known for its great hospitality and pink tablecloths, the Ristorante Capannina is always the first reservation that I make for dinner in Capri. If you are lucky enough to visit at the right time, the fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with mozzarella are not to be missed. The taste and warmth will fill you with such joy that you will forget the calories. For your entrée, you cannot go wrong with seafood. Everything is fresh and delicious and wonderful. And do not forget to save room for dessert! The Ristorante Capannina is especially beloved for its friendly staff. You need only to visit for a few consecutive years before friendly faces and familiar smiles recognize you when you come in. This is the sort of hospitality that can be so difficult to find. You can make good friends and find that the love that you will find FOR the Capannina will be reciprocated BY the Capannina for you in return.

This was by far the best ravioli I have ever had. The the wine list was excellent. The charming restaurant with it's friendly staff made our lunch very enjoyable. A must if you are visiting the island of Capri

Very good service, I am impressed to see the elegant owner taking the order by himself, and the friendly service he is giving to us, and he just have a very friendly grandfatherly look. Aside from the above, the food came really quick, while we were a large group of 24! And the quality of the ingredients are spectacular and cooked together perfectly. The atmosphere is very clean and authentic and full of indirect sunlight. We would definitely come back here again.

We arrived late to Capri and walked by this restaurant and were so hungry so we just took a seat. We were skeptical about whether it was going to be a tourist trap as it has a ton of celebrity photos but we had an amazing experience. The food was very typical Capri style Italian food. Everything was delicious. We had Caprese salad, zucchini flower pasta, fish from the specials menu (which is extensive), the duo tiramisu (pistachio and Amaretto ). The waitress and manager (?) from Maldova was so sweet and patient. We had a lot of questions and asked for many recommendations in regards to wine and after dinner drinks. They let us try everything. Good wine in Italy can be fairly inexpensive to the mark ups imnised to in NYC. We had such a great dinner experience that we went back the next night after dinner to have drinks in their wine bar on the side street next door which is open late to 2 am and we were again greeted by attentive staff (the same manager guy was there to help us with amaro selections. ). I highly recommend this place (as someone who has very high dining expectations for service and food quality! Btw the photo of Jackie O is to die for!

Disappointing food. Tired decor. Pleasant serving staff and a hands-on owner who greets you warmly on arrival, but that's not enough. The worst risotto I've had in Italy, more of a pilaff than a risotto - dry and pointless. Uninspiring main courses. Even the contorni/vegetables were poorly cooked. To add insult to injury they added a hefty service charge on the bill at the end in a very un Italian way. A restaurant coasting on what may have been a glorious past, but is now a rather sad present. Avoid.

The figs and prosciutto MELT in your mouth. SO so so so good. After this appetizer, my dinner was not amazing. I had a pasta dish with a tomato sauce, whose proceeds were to benefit one of the towns affected by the 2016 earthquakes in Central Italy. I felt good about ordering it. In fact, the owner explained to me the dish reminded him of his father, who was from one of the towns affected. The pasta dish turned out to be pretty boring. I felt like I could have made it myself. After dinner, we walked down the alley next to La Capannina to get to a wine bar (owned by the same people), and I could see the boxes of Barilla pasta through the windows to the kitchen from outside. I could have made it myself! If you want pasta, be sure to ask what is made in house. Hopefully you'll have a less disappointing pasta dish than I had. The service was great. Things were just pretty expensive for what we got.

This is the best local place in Capri. Hidden but serves one of the best pastas in amalfi region Italy. This says a lot. I was lucky to have met the son of the original owner (who now owns the restaurant) who used to serve Jackie Kennedy back in the day. Lots of celebrity photos everywhere. Great find great meal. Stumbled on the place by chance, Amazing food, beautiful restaurant, only negative food took a while to come

Asti Spumante and antipasti was our light affair one weekday evening. Every bite was delicious but having just arrived from Posintano where we ate the best mozz it was hard to compete. Wine bottles are displayed everywhere and the atmosphere is personable and pleasant. Many celebrity photos are displayed but unfortunately none seen. A thank you is offered by owner when it is time to leave.

La Capannina was a great find! We were so delighted with the vegetarian options available to us. The food was delicious in every way, the service was lovely and i would recommend the stuffed vegetables if you want to try a dish unique to this place.

This was one of our favorite restaurants while visiting Capri. It was quaint and romantic, and very accommodating to specific dietary needs. I'm vegan and was having a difficult time find anything but pasta and bread on my trip to Italy (admittedly delicious pasta and bread). I was very excited when we arrived to La Capannina and I was able to order a hearty, flavorful lentil soup. I heard people near me request gluten free options also, and the waiters seemed very helpful. A+ for service, food, and atmosphere.

The service was just lovely- they were very accommodating of our vegetarian needs, seafood allergies and had an extensive selection of great vegetarian options- the stuffed vegetables were so good that we ordered two of the dish. The eggplant lasagna was delicious, the pasta fresh and the hospitality genuine. We loved it!

What a find!! It's not just the phenomenal food, but the owner Antonio and his wife Aurelia, their son Francesco as well as the incredible staff make us feel like family! We have been back to Capri the last 4 years and will return again this summer. We of coarse go to other restaurants and honestly wonder why. All the food is delicious. A few of our favorites are the Prosciutto and Figs, Linguini with Clams, all the fresh fish and my ultimate favorite, Ravioli! However, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Ps, they also have an inviting wine bar and cocktail lounge just steps away for after dinner drinks!!

Fabulous food and absolutely impeccable service:-) We asked for our own private table and they graciously approved. They were never far when needed, and we're always happy to fulfill any request quickly and easily. The food was to die for. Appetizers, main courses, and dessert were all top notch. The fact that this place doesn't have a Michelin Star proves that the Michelin Guide is far from perfect.

We chose La Capannina for our last dinner in Capri. The décor is done in pink, so you really get the island feel when you step in. We were greeted by an older gentleman who sat us at our table. You will see many photographs on the walls of this same gentleman with a lot of celebrity's who have dined here in the past. We started with the seafood risotto, which had mussels, calamari, prawns, and clams. It was excellent. The seafood was so fresh. For my dinner I had the veal with sweet peppers and mushrooms. The veal was extremely tender. The sauce had a sweet taste from the peppers that I have never had before. My wife had the grilled prawns. They were the largest prawns I have ever seen. However, they were cooked perfectly. They were not chewy at all. This was the first restaurant we ate at that poured my wine for me when my glass got low. Nowhere else in Italy did this. The level of service here was the best we had hands down. For dessert we had the profiteroles, which were covered in hot fudge. They were excellent. We were also given complimentary lemon cello. This is Capri after all. Best all-around meal we had in Italy. One side note to keep in mind. We had a service charge on the bill for around 12-15% of the total. I had no problem with this, as the service was outstanding. But make sure you see it before giving any more as a tip.

This place on Capri was amazing! My husband and I have been honeymooning and basically eating our way through Italy for 2 weeks. We went here on the recommendation from our guide who was leading us through Capri. The weather did not cooperate for us but we were able to see some beautiful sites. After walking through the rain, she took us down one of the many narrow, curvy, stoned roads and through this beautiful door that was reminiscent of a door on a ship. We walked in and were greeted by the most friendly waitstaff. Huge smiles and big hearts. The menu was quite wonderful. We shared a caprese salad with burrata cheese (big mistake...we should have ordered 2!!!!) the hubs got the ravioli and I got a plate of the most delicious homemade pasta with a creamy mushroom sauce and a glass of their house red. To die for! We left full and happy! A must go if you ever find yourself on the happy island of Capri!

We were disappointed with this meal. We had the Caprese Salad and Shrimp Cocktail as appetizers. The shrimp was warm and had a mushy texture which was unpleasant. When I didn't eat it, the server brought out a plate of raw shrimp to show the quality of the shrimp used. I'm not sure what point she was trying to make - the shrimp I was served may or may not have been completely fresh but in either case they were prepared and presented poorly. I found it to be an odd way of handling the situation, and I just told her they weren't to my liking. The Caprese salad was fine but not outstanding. As an entree I had eggplant parmesan, which was good, but again, nothing special. Very average meal, which was disappointing for the price.
