Great prices, great drinks. A wide variety of options to choose from. Service was on point, even though they were packed. Salsa is top notch, and I am picky with salsa. Nice relaxed atmosphere you can watch a game or whatever and snack on shareable items. Obviously a dinner is great too, but we had a great time just getting random items here and there.

I’ve recommended this place to my peers for years. The management is fantastic and the staff cares about customer service. The food is the best Mexican food we’ve had, and we’re from Houston. Can not recommend this place enough.

Stopped by this place for an early dinner on our way to Florida. The food was fresh and well-seasoned. There happened to be an international festival going on at the time, which added to the lively atmosphere. Overall, it was a fun spot with great food!

I recently visited this Mexican restaurant, and overall, I had fine experience ! The chimichangas was good — they were prepared just right and tasted good. The portion sizes were generous, especially for the price. The service was also good — the food arrived incredibly fast, which really impressed me! However, while the food tasted good, I did feel that the quality could have been better. I felt the quality was not good and didn’t like the after-food experience. Also it had a weird oil taste! They definitely need to work on the quality served. But with the great service and portion size, I’d still recommend giving it a try!

Service was great me and my girlfriend went on a Saturday we had the duck quesadillas the egg rolls and A pitcher of margaritas and the big bowels that they had on the menu omg I really can’t say I enjoyed anything besides the Service the Margarita was watered down I didnt even get a buzz the Quesadillas was alright but it was full of Chesse didn’t taste no duck at all the egg rolls had no Flavor at all and the dip they had for it it was Disgusting the bowls we got was also disgusting full of cucumbers and the meat had a taste to it I don’t know what they cook their food with but they need to try some new I love Mexican food but I will never ever step foot in this place again I’m mad cause it wasn’t worth 118 dollars at all I hate leaving bad reviews but it’s a true review I’ll stick to superior Grill atleast their drinks get you drunk sorry but not sorry

We loved the service and the drinks. The food was okay, fried fish which came with chips (fries). Felt it was a small portion for the price. Drinks were great! They do good happy hour deals. Service was very attentive and friendly. She would come over just as we came to the end of our drinks so we were never left with a empty. Which surprisingly was a first during our 2 week holiday. Sport showing on the screens and music in the background.

This place is consistently good... I've probably tried half the menu items by now. Always fresh, always yummy. Service is great - I once came in for lunch with only 30 mins on my lunch break and I was served and out the door with five mins to spare. I wish they had more authentic Mexican dishes but what can you expect from Tex-Mex in a small Southern town. The dish pictured is barbacoa tacos - delicious! The refried beans have a nice spicy kick to them.

It's like a mexician sports bar with plenty of big screen TVs and the food was great.

Oy vey. What are we going to do with La Carreta? This was the most gentrified "Mexican" restaurant that I've ever been to in my entire life. I ordered a rice bowl and there were cucumbers and sour cream present. And not one ounce of flavor. Even after drowning the creation with leftover salsa and Tabasco sauce--yes Tabasco sauce because there was no Mexican hot sauce to be found. The birria tacos were a lot more palatable but the flavor of the consommé was overpowered by the amount of cilantro of lime. Decent chips and salsa for the table but it would take a lot to ruin chips and salsa.

Shrimp avocado toast, one of the Sunday Brunch specials, was delicious. Three pieces of toast covered with guacamole, sprinkled with Cotija cheese and seasoned shrimps. Finished with a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette. Yum!!

The service was friendly and attentive. I ordered the shrimp tacos which were average. My husband ordered the avocado toast since it was brunch and he said it was good. The location is perfect for downtown music. Yes, I recommend!

Great place with some good food and service, we tried the tacos and the nachos the last two visits, the chips and salsa as well.

I did not eat here. I went here with the intent to eat lunch on Friday, July 30, 2021. The computers were down and not one person in the entire restaurant realize they could use paper and pens to take orders and walk them back to the kitchen. They also apparently did not know they could add up the prices on the menu manually to determine the total and then add the appropriate tax amount to that total... There are also manual mechanical credit card scanning machines that exist. Every restaurant has them in the back in the storage closet Barry down deep but they're there... Total fail.

Our waiter was fabulous and the food was the best we've ever had! It's a cute and clean restaurant.

me and my husband went mind you (he is mexican) and i work in the service industry the service was horrible barley seen our server didnt check on us or anything the food was absolutely horrible my husband threw up outside as soon as we left i could have gotten food from taco bell for cheaper and much better to be honest dont know how this place is still open! very disappointed

Very good service. The food was very delicious. I would highly recommend you to go. It's the best place here in Lafayette La. They always make sure that your food is served quickly so that you wouldn't have to wait there a very long time to eat.

The food was really good and I really enjoyed the music! We ordered the chicken quesadilla with grilled chicken and a large bowl of queso--both of which were delicious. The service was very good as well!

One of Laffy's best kept secrets is LC. The word is getting out! Grilled Chicken Chimichanga is where it's at! Super clean and nicely decorated. Super clean which is also a huge plus! Kinda loud and not real child friendly but defo do as a lunch or date night. Drinks too are TOP NOTCH. Highly recommend! Don't waste time head on over and ORDER. Absolutely love this place!

Great downtown location, along with good food and service. Salsa was good, tortilla chips needed a little seasoning, however The Monterrey Chicken had very good flavor, steak Fajitas also very good. Server was very attentive. Would definitely return to try other items.

You can tell a lot about a place with just from their chips and salsa. The chips taste almost powdery like a pressed mixed of some kind and I'm sorry 16$ for a basic margarita on the rocks. It also tasted mostly like sour mix I barely could taste the tequila. The queso was greasy and the brisket on top was giant cubed chunks very unappealing I'm used to a thin dark cut of brisket I almost thought it was chicken that's how strange it looked. Not great.

The food was straight. Definitely could've had more flavor, average at best. The salsa was the spiciest thing. I thought fajitas came with cheese? The fajita meat was very dry & tough. Also was surprised that the taco plate didn't allow me to substitute. Server kinda sucked. Won't be back :( p.s. La Caretta Baton Rouge is way better

Food was solid. Definitely good quality. Lunch was a little pricey, but could just be downtown prices. Service was good, even on a busy day. Their black beans were really good, so was the salsa. Nice and spicy. For downtown, it was a nice big place. Very clean as well.

I'll try to be fast : the first time over there began so well; very pretty mexicain place, beautiful menu and customer quite very kind, but when I made a confusion she become so cold... my plate for 10$ was so big and not very good. Moreover, they added two things that we didn't ordered on the bill ! But on Sunday when it was nothing open we came back and all was good : the guacamole and the spinach and artichoke ( which where cream) where so good. But unfortunately the customer wrote big spinach & artichoke instead of small on the bill, open your eye to your note because there is a difference !

The food was fantastic as was the atmosphere. The shrimp tacos were delicious. The rice and beans also very good. The salsa could have been better. The service was excellent. I will definitely be back and recommend this place to others.

The quesabirria tacos were very tasty! Wish they gave more consommé and some limes and cilantro, but the green salsa was fresh and spicy.

The pico is spicy but not to spicy Refried beans!! Hello what's not to love I shredded my grilled chicken breast then put Refried beans first then chicken then pico!!! Love the complimentary chips & salsa Now for the annoying part!!! Nope, I hate folks that use yelp to bitch!! If you have an issue address the manager don't come here and write up a complaint I ignore mean complaints usually it's a disgruntled employee Now I give this place 4 stars as everyone has room for inprovement!! La Careta is a fun and loud restaurant on Jefferson Street in Lafayette. The food is decent Mexican/TexMex/Socal Mexican food. Chips, salsa, and water are replenished regularly and reflect the great level of service the restaurant has. Prices are nothing to write home about with some things (like fish tacos) way overpriced ($13 if I recall) and others (like the burritos) more reasonably priced around $11.

Great food and atmosphere! Best Mexican food I've had in a while! Lunch menu all day on Sunday. We were 2 people and the bill was $22. Very reasonable!

I've eaten at La Carreta about ten times and have not written a review? That is strange.,, especially as this may be the best mexican restaurant in Lafayette. the Fajitas are quite good, their beans and other accoutrements are tasty, and their chips and sauce are fresh and delicious. They also make a pretty mean margarita, fresh or frozen. The bar is cool, the service is good, and most important, the people running this joint know what they're doing as they are very consistent in their food... I've never been stiffed or had to send anything back.

Great food and great service for a great price! We tried La Carreta for lunch on a Friday, it wasn't too busy. I had the lunch chimichanga and my husband ordered the lunch combo, we both had PLENTY of food! And best of all, the beer's cold!

The food is always great and the margaritas are the bomb!!! Wait staff is awesome and on cue!!

I have to review based on dozens of visits and several reviews. Each time we go the food is delicious, hot and comes out quickly. Service is consistently good I have tried numerous dishes and they are all delicious. Kudos to the wait staff and manager for being so consistent. I highly recommend this place!

I had a layover flight in Lafayette, I only ordered a large margarita and stayed for about 2 1/2 hours to kills some time before my flights. The service was super quick the margarita was amazing and well worth the price and no one tried to rush me and the wait staff continuously checked in to see if I needed anything while I was here! Highly recommend you won't be disappointed!!

We tried eating here this evening after our daughter had a performance at the Acadiana Center for the Arts. We had a large party (9) and we're seated promptly. Immediately we were served chips and salsa. That was the end of any type of service. Waited several minutes before a server came to get our drink order. At that time, we also ordered two large quesos for the table. They were delivered promptly, but we were out of chips. Chips were refilled, but still no drinks. Our kids had ordered water and soft drinks, I had ordered a Chardonnay, my husband a margarita no salt, and my parents each ordered glasses of merlot. After about 10 minutes, we got the non alcoholic beverages served. After 10 more minutes without our drinks, I got up and asked someone at the bar if they had our drinks. Someone said they would make them. A little while later, they were served. Margarita had salt, wine was served in iced tea glasses. As the bartender sat down a red wine in front of me, I told her that I'd ordered a Chardonnay. She proceeded to tell me that it was Chardonnay. I told her that it was not, because it was a red wine. She looked offended and said it was Chardonnay. At that point, we asked for the check and left. What was supposed to be a large, family dinner turned out to be a complete disaster. We left and ended up getting pizza. The craziest part is that my husband told the guy at the front podium that they had lost several hundred dollars in business and he just shrugged like he didn't really care. That says a lot. It's kind of sad that a place that has had great food in the past has allowed the service to go down so much.

The grilled chicken quesadilla was awesome. My server, Gabrielle, was fantastic. My strawberry margarita was tasty. Food was hot. Beverage was cold. Excellent people and place. I'll be back a few more times as I'm only in the city temporarily for work.

Yippee!!! A good Mexican restaurant in Lafayette! The food was fresh, the service was good, and my husband and I both thought the prices were reasonable for the size of the entrees. I had a green salad with steak on top, and it was delicious. The chips and salsa were fresh. I tried the margarita the waiter recommended, and it was very good. We plan to go back to try some more of the entrees.

We were looking for Mexican food in this area. So we found this place on Yelp. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Good services food came off fast and hot. I had the fajitas they were great. My daughter had a bed burrito, she said it was great. They give you good portions. All in all we definitely loved this place and would come back if we were in the area.

We went here for dinner last night. I had the Alambres, steak and grilled onions smothered in Monterey jack cheese. Wife had chicken quesadilla and guacamole. Everything was great.

Great location and server. Almost all of the food was great. I think that the steak fajitas were made out of sirloin. The meat was pretty dry and over cooked in them. That being said, the overall experience was good and I will back.

This was the worst experience! We arrived at this restaurant for lunch while in town. After a few minutes a young man brought us a basket of chips and salsa. He never spoke a word, dropped and left. We waited 5 minutes for a server, no one showed up. The hostess had to go get someone. The waiter finally showed up and was not pleasant at all. We ordered 2 drinks and a small cheese dip. He brought it to our table and again no words were spoken. He walked away and began talking to another table without even asking if we were ready to order. No big deal, they were there first. But then!!!!! As I am in mid conversation with my husband a god forsaken roach falls from the wall into my arm! And actual f****** roach! Not a tree roach! A small German house roach! He abruptly stopped talking and tells me with wide eyes that there is a bug on my arm! I slap it away and realize what it was! I am appalled, but I keep my composure. I calmly say we are leaving now! My husband goes to discuss what events took place with the hostess. At this point I'm thinking that she will get the manager to handle the situation. No! She makes us pay for the drinks and dip (which is fine) but, no apology, no anything! Acted as though it was normal and we were out of line. We will NEVER eat there again and we are now driving back home and hour and a half for lunch because they ruined our entire experience!

We stopped here because we were craving Mexican food and a friend had recommended this place. First, the downtown area is so CUTE! The restaurant was clean, the decor was bright and fun, and they had sports on all the TVs. When we sat down chips and salsa were brought out immediately and drink order was taken. We got the queso, I got the two taco lunch special with steak and shredded chicken on corn tortillas. It was amazing!! My boyfriend got the redfish over rice and queso with veggies and It was equally as amazing. Everything was hot and juicy and so much flavor. Service was very fast and friendly and price point was more than reasonable. I will be back and I can't recommend this place enough.

Fresh Tex Mex food for a decent price! My favorite time to go here is during lunch. I am very picky about what I eat because I am on a diet, so eating out takes a bit more effort. However, I found this PERFECTLY portioned lunch called the Monterrey. It's basically a ~1 cup portion of a choice of protein (Shrimp and Chicken are my favorites), ~1 cup grilled veggies, and ~1.5 cup of Mexican rice. Also, their chips and queso are AMAZING.

The steak fajitas and tortilla soup are the best. I ordered on Waitr and got $5 off using code Local5!

Everything was delicious but the duck quesadillas are to die for!! Will definitely return just for those...yummmmm

Still love coming down here even if it just for a couple of Margaritas, and some chips and salsa. Over the past few years it has definitely become on of our favorites.

The service was great and so was the food. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pretty chill and there's an out door area to sit down and eat and relax. I enjoyed my time there and I will be back again.

I was in Lafayette for work and decided to stop at La Carretta since it one of my favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge. My colleague and I were so disappointed. She got the chicken fajitas and it came with one big chicken breast that was under seasoned. I got the chile rellano and it tasted like it was fried in old oil. It had no filling and was soggy. I gave it two stars because the salsa was good.

Great hip place for Mexican food. Came on a Sunday and found their lunch menu is served all day. The sauce on the enchiladas was good- slightly sweet, not tangy or bitter. The ground beef in the taco was seasoned good. My husband got the Baja fish tacos, and they had pickled onions, which tasted like they were soaked in lemon juice. The black beans and rice with it were very flavorful as well. The grilled veggies on the side are slightly crisp, and not over cooked mush like some places have. Definitely a place come back to.

Great experience! My fiancé and I wandered down to La Carreta for the first time after Downtown Alive Friday and had a wonderful experience. I have dairy allergies and have been refused service at other Mexican locations, but not here! I had the fish tacos with veggies and they were amazing! My fiancé had the carnitas, and his only regret was that he forgot his to go box on the table. A hardy serving and tasty food! The bottomless salsa was perfect, drinks were tasty, and the service was OUTSTANDING! I wish I knew the name of our server. She was attentive, inquisitive, and fast! Thank you for a wonderful experience!!!!!

Super cool little place. It's not huge but that's what I love about it!!! The margaritas are amazing!!!!! The atmosphere is awesome and the food is good! Greeted with chips and salsa as soon as I sat down. Wait staff when I have been here was awesome! Recommend for sure!

We hit this place on a late Sunday afternoon and they were pretty empty. The service was excellent. The salsa, queso and guacamole are delicious. They don't have a very wide variety of items on their menu but everyone in our 5 person party found something they liked. We were all very pleased. I would definitely recommend this place.
