Few minutes away from the extremely busy and touristic Puerta del Sol, you step into some more Spanish authenticity as soon as you enter this establishment. Still a bit touristic, but you can get a great vermouth with anchovies and olives. Service is fast and friendly, tapas arrived hot. The croquetas are better than the average, the chicken wings are nice but the tortilla is average.

To start the review, for the Mexican community, Los callos a la madrileña are very similar to our Menudo. The true local spot that speaks Madrid with their delicious food. The place was funded in 1907, it is the spot for local food. We ordered Callos a la madrileña the dish was amazing, Torrezinos with a potato base that were fantastic and for dessert Tortola de leche, different but delicious. This place deserves to be visited and a higher google ratings.

Busy place, but very fast service. We went on a public holiday so the place was packed. Two of us ordered a regular torrija and a torrija with wine, both were very good. Would recommend, especially if you have a sweet tooth.

It is a very nice local restaurant with great atmosphere and great service. The food was amazing. We have tried for the first time the Torrijas de vino dulce, it was incredibly delicious.

Tried to go here around lunch time and it was extremely busy so we came back at an off time around 4 pm. At this time there were quite a bit of tables open so we were able to sit quickly. After we ordered 2 Torrijas with milk and my god these were one of the best desserts we've eaten in our lives. It had a nice sugary crunch but on the inside it was nice and gooey. The taste was super flavorful and I could definitely eat a ton of these. Crazy they don't have a lot of well know Torrija places.

We tried the famous torrija de leche and it was really good. Nice place and location.

This place became our “local” when we staying at the UMusic Hotel opposite. Authentic place with a lively atmosphere at the weekend. My wife loved the milk torrijas, a riff on French toast.

Yelp
The venue is antique and quaint. The food was good: -sweet wine torrija (torrija de vino dulce): tasty but quite sweet as it was coated in granulated sugar. Also, it's much squishier/soaked than french toast in the US. -tortilla de patata: had a good amount of onion with the potato filling. portion size was a good size, heavy and filling for the price. -potatoes 2 sauces (patatas dos salsas): with aioli (basically mayo with some garlic flavor- too oily for my liking) and the "bravas" sauce (flavorful red sauce which tasted of chorizo but no meat in it). Very good portion for the price- 2 good eaters can share.

Yelp
I came here because torrijas are a popular Spanish dessert and I love bread pudding or french toast. I ordered a torrija con leche for only 3 euros. They put it in a nice takeout container and it was still very warm. The portion was huge and it was very tasty. It was not too sweet and worth the walk to get once. The restaurant is not super crowded but definitely worth going if you are craving a torrija!

Yelp
Came here on a food tour while in Madrid in 2017 nd when I came back on a student tour this was the place for one of our dinners. I was a huge fan of this place and their torrijas. We had a lamb stew as well and it was full of flavor and so tender. The wait staff were super friendly and willing to answer any questions and got the food out quickly. I really love this place and if in Madrid in the future this is a place I would frequent. Right off the main areas of Madrid near the Plaza del Sol and a must visit when in the area for a place where the locals eat. YOU MUST VISIT!

Yelp
We happened in on a Friday afternoon, right after the large crowd left. We sat and were greeted with a lovely smile from the female proprietor, who was very kind in helping us to order with our broken Spanish. We ordered white wine and small beer, which was served with the most delicious little hot dogs / sausages. The meat croquettas were outstanding served with a small salad. The torrijas we picked were dulche de leche and cafe liquor; both were scrumptious.

Yelp
Great place. Very local looking. Food was amazing. Be prepared to speak Spanish thought. Or at least try.
