Yelp
These people are so nice! I went in there to get some fabric and lace to update a vintage dress. They had absolutely everything I needed and their prices were great. 5/5 would 100% go there again!

Yelp
Never more La Casa de las Viejas will be what it used to be. Now one of the employees seems to had buy the store and she and a very rude gentleman, I think is her husband, run the business. This guy is very rude he doesn't move from the lazy boy chair that they have in the store. There's much less notions than in the original store. I got really sad and disappointed when visited that place last week.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in the downtown of miami . It's run by elderly women who really know how to make a tailors or arts and crafts persons dream come true . They are stocked with sequins, buttons, fabric, zippers galore. You name it they probably have it. If you are in the mood to make something , you should definitely check this place out , support this local business , because they will most likely be able to pull some magic out of a hat for your needs.

Yelp
This is a small fabric and crafts store in downtown. Parking is a little hard during weekdays but is better on the weekends, consider taking the metro mover. T he ladies are very friendly and it is true its easier if you speak spanish, like the name of the store it is the house of the old ladies, so bare with them. The fabric selection is not huge but you can find uniques and one of a kind fabrics (for gown or wedding dresses). The buttons and studs selection is organized. They also have any tools that you would need to sew or knit.

Yelp
This place is a little pricey compared to some of the other downtown Miami fabric stores, but if you scour the sale bins you can find some pretty lovely things that you don't really need. They have a great selection of high-quality fabrics and accessories ideal for real dress makers. Plus, if you grew up with a Cuban grandmother, you'll feel right at home with the staff, who are both very helpful and very honest about whether or not something you're getting looks good. As a procrastinating crafter, places like these are a danger to both my wallet and my closet... as I have many half-finished projects that I swear I'll get around to one of these days.

Yelp
So helpful! I went twice to La Casa De Las Viejas. The first time, I went to browse different kinds of lace for my wedding dress and Carmensita, who works with the lace was more helpful that I could have expected. She sketched out my dress, measured me and helped guide me in how much fabric I would need for my kind of dress. She didn't push it on me. After meeting with my seamstress and confirming quantities that I would need, I went back to Carmensita, who again, sketched out my dress and pretty much held my hand throughout my shopping process. No pushiness or scams. I highly recommend.

Yelp
This place seems to be less about fabric and more about trims, buttons, lace, and miscellaneous things (like hats, yarn, etc.). The staff was decently nice though. The lace trims were pretty nice, but nothing really stuck out in my mind about this place. Since it's in downtown, it's easy to walk a block to or from other places though, so it's worth a shot either way.

Yelp
The people are so rude! They don't want to sell. They close the door in clients face! Very rode!

Yelp
Not friendly. They do have somewhat good prices. However the service is so bad it makes me never want to go back in

Yelp
Beware, seriously. Man who appears to be the owner cut a piece of white fabric for me, but the piece he cut had a stain. Showed it to him and he told me to "tell the seamstress to work around it." When I told him I didn't know if she would be able to, he grabbed the fabric out of my hands and told me that he wouldn't sell me that piece nor any other piece of fabric. Unbelievable

Yelp
It's hard to give them a star rating... for selection is give them 5 stars. For quality I'd give them 3 ( some items are yelling due to age- be careful!) For customer service is give them 2 stars (it helps if you know Spanish). For organization I'd give them a 5. Side note: I'd stay away from their fabrics in the back of the store... My first visit I inquired about a fabric and was told $100/yard. My second visit I was told it was $350/yard. Honestly it's not even fantastic fabric. So the new game is every time I go in I'm gonna ask the price of this fabric to see how much it fluctuates lol. Oh and make sure you don't get charged twice for taxes. I got multiple slips from different counters which included taxes and went I went to pay for my whole purchase she charged me for tax on my total purchase as well... sneaky... I didn't notice it until I got home.

Yelp
I've been to this fabric store before and had a fairly decent experience (I guess it would have been better if I spoke the native tongue of Spanish, but today's experience was less than smiles and sunshines, so here goes: Me: Is this all the tulle you have? Lady: Yes Then I turn the corner and there are bolsters of tulle two feet taller than me. Um, ok. Me: How much is this fabric? Lady: I don't work in this department. Other Lady: Let me check, I don't work in this department. When I finally got the price, my jaw practically hit the floor. The markup here is ridic. Nevertheless, this was the only place I'd come across that had what I needed, so I paid the price. But the lady who cut my fabric could have used a cutting-with-scissors-101 class. First, she attempted to rip the fabric (genius), causing it to cut into the yardage I needed, so she had to start over. Then, she cut the fabric so poorly, I'm going to have to redo the edge to get it anywhere near even and I'll probably loose a few inches in the process. She kindly explained, as she was massacring my fabric, that she works in the ribbon department. Apparently, no one works in the back room of this joint, which is weird, because that's where the fabric lives. You'd think with all the excess they are charging for tulle, they'd be able to hire a back room employee. Heck, they'd even have enough to send her to a cutting seminar. I'll only go back here as a last resort.

Yelp
I am having my veil made for my wedding and was looking for a place that had the materials I needed. I was referred to the case de las viejas in downtown. The lady who worked int he department gave me really good ideas and they had a good selection that varied in price. The lady who works there will also make it for you at a great price, I already had a lady but would have used her if not. The good thing is that its open on Saturdays and you don't have to make it to downtown before 5 om on a weekday to get here.

Yelp
Very nice staff they let you shop in peace unlike Nunez fabrics. I honestly love this store I will be coming back for sure. Not a big fabric selection but great assesories for your clothing. Beautiful button selection, zippers, lace ect.

Yelp
Worst customer service ever. We arrived at 4:45 so I guess the employees were mad at us because they close at 5 . First, there was a man who opened the door and said we had to hurry up cause they needed to leave . When we got in, there were two workers talking to each other and completely ignoring us , even though we asked for their help several times . When they finally decided to help their service was everything but courteous . Never coming back .

Yelp
Great selection of sewing supplies in a colorful jewel like and classic Miami shop that seems timeless.

Yelp
This store has some of the most beautiful high end beaded and sequins fabrics I've seen. Their prices are high but if you need bridal and high end couture fabrics, this is the place to go. They also have a huge selection of trims, feathers and more.

Alexa L.

Yelp
Great place! They have unique beads, fabrics, sequence and lace. Whenever my husbands suit jackets missing a button, I always run to las casa de las viejas.

Yelp
I usually do not post things like this, but the ladies that work in this store are some of the most disgusting people I have ever met. All they care about is ripping you off. I asked them to show me items in my price range and they refused, only pulling out the most expensive of things and trying to force them upon me. Rudest people ever!!

Jennifer O.

Yelp
I went today looking for a light blue lace fabric for. Y baby shower dress and the old man who was too busy talking on the phone threw at me the only fabric he had available. Not even looking at me or welcoming me to the store. This was the rudest and most unprofessional way a person could assist someone.

Yelp
This store has a huge selections of notions and lace and trims! Also has a small but nice fabric selection in back. There are 5 stores within a block of each other here. Spend the afternoon looking at fabric and notions!
