I've been to this fabric store before and had a fairly decent experience (I guess it would have been better if I spoke the native tongue of Spanish, but today's experience was less than smiles and sunshines, so here goes:
Me: Is this all the tulle you have?
Lady: Yes
Then I turn the corner and there are bolsters of tulle two feet taller than me. Um, ok.
Me: How much is this fabric?
Lady: I don't work in this department.
Other Lady: Let me check, I don't work in this department.
When I finally got the price, my jaw practically hit the floor. The markup here is ridic.
Nevertheless, this was the only place I'd come across that had what I needed, so I paid the price. But the lady who cut my fabric could have used a cutting-with-scissors-101 class. First, she attempted to rip the fabric (genius), causing it to cut into the yardage I needed, so she had to start over. Then, she cut the fabric so poorly, I'm going to have to redo the edge to get it anywhere near even and I'll probably loose a few inches in the process. She kindly explained, as she was massacring my fabric, that she works in the ribbon department. Apparently, no one works in the back room of this joint, which is weird, because that's where the fabric lives.
You'd think with all the excess they are charging for tulle, they'd be able to hire a back room employee. Heck, they'd even have enough to send her to a cutting seminar. I'll only go back here as a last resort.
