Charming does not begin to do justice to Casa de Mis Recuerdos, House of My Memories. Stepping through the door and off the busy, hot streets of Oaxaca into the refreshing coolness of the large vestibule, a sense of calm and relief came over us. Walk a bit farther and the central garden courtyard surrounded us with colorful flowers and leafy, green plants. ||There are two cool, comfortable seating areas in the courtyard that we took advantage of; I spent an entire day relaxing and dreaming under the flowering arbor! The WiFi is strong, stable, and reliable. Same-day laundry service is a helpful plus!||We spent six nights in the Primavera room; located on the second level, it overlooks the courtyard. Clean and comfortable this room was a joy to return to after playing tourist for the day. ||Breakfast, which is included, is served at a communal table. The meal is prepared and served by two lovely ladies, Rosie and Conchita. Despite the language barrier, I was able to make it understood that I am a vegetarian; my oatmeal was served each morning without fail. ||Take a break from the corporate-owned hotels; book your stay at Casa de Mis Recuerdos, a family owned and operated bed and breakfast.

This is a very special place -- beautiful, comfortable, and run by an incredibly warm couple and staff. The breakfasts are delicious -- tamales, quesadillas, eggs with squash blossoms, all prepared authentically. Sitting around the big table in the old colonial home engenders a friendly atmosphere. Part of our enjoyment was meeting some of the interesting people also staying at the B&B. We stayed in two rooms -- both were comfortable and nicely decorated. The interior courtyard, filled with plants, was a wonderful place to hang out and talk or read. The staff were very always eager to help by sharing information or calling cars for us when needed. Finally, the location is ideal -- within walking distance of everything, including a lovely park with great food nearby.

This place is wonderful. We loved it here - beautiful place, the home of the owner but completely private. The garden and courtyard are gorgeous. The daily breakfast is served each morning in the main house and was always delicious. Our room was immaculately clean and furnished in Oaxacan style. The location is, in my opinion, the best place to stay in Oaxaca. Everything about our stay here was lovely. I would definitely stay here again.

We found this amazing BnB by chance from a blog site. What a chance!!! We stayed in the La Paloma room, had the most amazing breakfasts and spent time visiting with the owner and staff. The whole experience was more than anything I could expect. The owner and staff were so helpful and such a joy to visit with every morning. The room was perfectly comfortable and clean. The patio was incredibly inviting with the beautiful vines and flowers, the seating areas, the design and decor, etc. Everything is well thought out and done in such style. I will be back!

La Casa de Mis Recuerdos was the perfect place to stay in Oaxca's Centro district. The people who own it and work there are wonderful. The atmosphere is charming and the room was very pleasant (as was the bed). Breakfasts were an outstanding experience. We were there for two weeks and met really nice fellow travelers.

Amazing stay here for a week. The place is beautiful, has quaint old Mexican charm, very clean and the staff are very attentive. The breakfast alone is a reason to stay here. Conchita and Moises are exceptional hosts. Helped get a taxi to depart for airport and he waited for it to arrive. This place books up fast and I know why. |I stayed in the “Calondria” room, back of the house on second floor and didn’t hear the street noise. Did hear dogs bark and occasional music but quiet for Mexico standards. The plants and gardens around the house are beautiful! If you’re looking for American standards of a place to stay (modern bathroom, Hugh pressure water, tv) then this might not be for you, But if you love to be surrounded by beautiful plants and lots of warm colors, quiet, have great hosts and amazing breakfasts served in a beautiful dining room, then this place is for you. Hosts live on premises which was great!

A beautiful, quiet oasis in the middle of Oaxaca city. We loved every minute of our stay here. Breakfast was amazing every day enhanced only by the company of other travellers. The room was quiet, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. There are plenty of sitting areas surrounded by flowers and birds to relax in and the location is perfect; 10 minute walk to Santo Domingo Cathedral and maybe 15 minutes to the Zocalo. I cannot recommend La Casa de Mis Recuerdos highly enough.

My wife and I had an incredible eleven-day stay at La Casa de Mis Recuerdos! I am a world traveler and have stayed at wonderful places across the globe, but I would put Conchita and Moise's amazing B&B at the top of my list. Every morning Conchita would prepare the most wonderful breakfasts for us; every day was different. It was a culinary delight! The room was spacious, the grounds were lust with lovely foliage. Conchita's taste in design was exquisite. On our departure, Moises has called a taxi for us. Not only was the taxi on time, but Moises was up at 5 AM to make sure everything went smoothly and he even carried our bags downstairs for us to our great surprise. There is nowhere else I'd rather stay than at La Casa de Mis Recuerdos. It is in a lovely neighborhood close to the center but away from the hustle and bustle. I can't use enough superlatives about this fabulous place. It's the best!

Yelp
We recently spent 2 weeks in the care and of Moises and Conchita Valencia and their wonderful B&B. This is truly a family operation, and the family loves what they do. Located in the heart of Centro, it is convenient to just about everything we came to Oaxaca to see and do. We walked everywhere in Centro and always looked forward to returning to our home away from home. Excursions outside the city can be arranged, either by tour, or by taxi, both of which are reasonable. Moises greeted us when we first arrived late at night and was at our door to see us off at 5:30 am the morning we left. In between, we enjoyed their warm Oaxacan hospitality, met wonderful guests from the U.S. and Canada and savored Conchita's extraordinary breakfasts and her fabulous Oaxacan costumes. We had no idea how sophisticated, varied, elegant and flavorful Oaxacan food can be. Our surprise began with our first breakfast prepared by Conchita and her staff, and continued with making Oaxacan dishes at the home of Conchita's daughter Nora, who runs a cooking school (https://www.almademitierra.net) and is an excellent tour guide. Each room is different. Some are larger than others, and each is appointed differently. Because the B&B is located on a busy street, you may opt for a room at the back. Regardless of which room you choose, in keeping with Hispanic design traditions, once you pass through the front door off the street you enter a world of grace, peace, beauty and hospitality. Bouganvilla, cactus, citrus and other tropical/desert plants abound. Tile roofs and floors. Stucco walls. Nitches. Cubbies. Nooks and crannies. And, of course, Moises, Conchita and their attentive staff. It's all there, waiting for you.

Yelp
We found this place on TripAdvisor and it needs to have more presence on Yelp! As the previous review described, it is a home away from home. I will also note the incredible hospitality, delicious breakfasts (some of the best meals we had in a foodie town), and lovely and thoughtful accommodations. It is on the expensive end. There are others in the neighborhood, that on the outside, look quite nice and inviting. A quick search shows that they are about the same or a bit less expensive. The website and photos largely made the difference when we booked. Our room, one with a bathroom and away from the street, was very comfortable. My partner and I stayed for 6 days, and had plenty of space. The furniture, lighting and amenities were carefully arranged. Conchita was super kind. She lives in the house with her husband. It's been in her family since the 1940s. She spent time with us, answering questions about the history and culture of Oaxaca. And she arranged a driver to take us to Ocotlan, Mitla and neighboring areas across a couple different days. It was 180 pesos per hour for the driver. We learned later that the going rate was 300 pesos per hour. But we also learned that the driver gets a sizeable cutback for purchases we make at the "important locations" so we eventually got over the purchase we made out. When we visit again, we will like stay with Conchita. If you're looking to splurge and to stay in the historic center, this is a sweet spot.
