#LaCasaEncendida = #theHouseLit It is lit indeed 🔥 by the culture, passion, hospitality, art, philosophy, in the exhibition, library, cafeteria, where you can take part in a city. I visited in September 10th 2023, it had impressed me, the exhibition of Picasso’s untitled works “SIN TÍTULO” was really worth it, the way they presented the work itself was very creative, but it might had just over and be replaced by another exhibition. Today I was going to visit the library, but unfortunately it is CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS until JANUARY 31TH. Looking forward to the reopening.

Very modern and conceptual art. Free to visit in the exhibits and the terrace. If you have time then come visit especially if you are planning to go to areas around there like the park.

Most reputed language & cultural center, I listened to one of my friends, who has taken a course from this. I went there and contacted with reception and sat on a language admission level test, but the authority didn't select me. I was frustrated. But still I want to take administration from there because I heard from my friend that inside there is a good Library, so I want to take a chance to study there and get liberty access. Hopefully I will get, otherwise I will miss the library access. If anyone knows, without a student card will I get the library access?

Internet doesn’t work and the woman on reception (40ish with Invisalign) most unhelpful. Coffee poor but location a nice, quiet space to work

One of my favorite cultural centres to visit while in Madrid. Excellent curatorial programming.

Great showcase of contemporary art with focus on effects COVID has had in society as well as other social issues - mental health discrimination. Muy interesante! And the exhibits are free!!

Pretty awesome atmosphere and worth visiting, not too large so you don't get overwhelmed, nice staff and really nicely presented. The rooms are dark, moody, nicely temperatured and the way they present the images is very aesthetically pleasing!

Yelp
I went to the cafe/restaurant there and the menu of the day was delicious! I would definitely return! It has a nice atmosphere and the prices were reasonable! It's nice because you can order a menu or half menu! I also enjoyed their croissants and cafe con leche!

Yelp
This is a school, actually. A school with classes, workshops, and seminars ranging from writing to photography to cinema... also exhibitions, events, performances. GAH I wish I lived in Madrid! I would visit here nonstop. Now for tourists, there's cafe on the 2nd floor. There's also a little outdoor area (in the centre of this building) where you can enjoy a coffee and study away. Apparently upstairs there's a patio but it's not always opened. This patio lets you see Lavapiés from above, and I hear it's nice. There are exhibitions as well, look at the dates on their website and the room number. These are opened during regular hours. When La Casa Encendida closes, shows start at 10pm. I watched a dance/song comedy performance, you can buy tickets online or at the door. People start lining up early! There is a lot happening and the staff expects you to do know what you're doing here, you can't aimlessly walk in and hope they'll guide you. They will not! I found my shows and exhibitions (as well as the room number) online, but the website is hard to navigate especially with Google Translate on. You definitely need to do a bit of research before coming! They don't have shows or exhibitions all the time, hopefully they have something going on during the days you're in Madrid :)

Yelp
This became my go-to study space my last month abroad. I loved studying in their cafe (really good jasmine tea) as it provided that cafe ambiance. There's free wifi, study tables throughout the building, and even a rooftop terrace where you can work or just simply soak in the sun.

Yelp
This is a great venue for all kinds of multicultural things: photography shows, concerts, theater, film festivals, performances, parties it has a wonderful inner courtyard and some large rooms for exhibits and such. You won't be charged much either, not even for the film festivals. It is overall a great cultural option as well as a good thing to have in town.
