Every time I had walked past La Casa, it was packed both inside and out, and I continually would complain about how I simply needed to try it but kept forgetting. Well, I finally made it there and loved it!!
We sat inside and praised the cozy atmosphere and authentic paintings on the walls. Our friendly server handed us tablets containing their varied menu for us to navigate. We had missed the fact that the restaurant was BYOB and would make sangria with your wine, but we will definitely keep that in mind for the future. The food was made-to-order, so it took a bit of time to arrive, but it was surely worth it. The portions were huge, and everything was extremely flavorful. I opted for the Grilled Chicken and Shrimp combination plate and simply loved how well-seasoned both were. The massive chicken breast had been pounded thin, and they generously provided 6-8 shrimp. I was also entitled to 2 side dishes and selected the Vegetables of the Day and Yellow Rice with Pidgeon Peas. The veggies happened to be broccoli and carrots, but these had been cooked in a garlic and herbed oil, making them really zesty and interesting. The large mound of rice and peas was made even more enjoyable, when I poured the white garlic sauce (in a bottle on the table) over it. My boyfriend had went with the Sirloin Steak with Onions. Given that the meat was topped with a hefty dose of sautéed onions, they wisely kept the steak on the milder side flavor-wise to allow the caramelized rings to add their kick. He also went with the yellow rice, but selected fries as his second side dish. Both of these meals cost only $15-$20 and were extremely satisfying.
From the food to the atmosphere to the affordable prices and large portions, La Casa was a great find!
