On the Grid : La Caseta del Migdia

"Don’t expect high class design or luxury, the best thing about the Caseta del Migdia is its views over Barcelona port and Montjuïc Castle. The short menu, all homemade, is based on charcoal grilled dishes – that you start to get a whiff of as you walk up the path lined by a forest of pine trees. If you’re up the mountain, it’s a great idea to pass by and enjoy the last rays of sunlight while you have a drink on the terrace – or a crepe – and enjoy the live music. It’s a wonderful alternative for the balmy summer evenings, a place far from the hubbub of the city, underneath the stars." - ZeClé

We were a group of 40, celebrating Easter with the kids, and organized an Egg hunt behind the woods of the bar. The atmosphere was great, they even provided live music as from 15:30hrs. The food is good enough, what you see is what you get. The staff is friendly, the toilets are clean. The views are stunning, perfect place to have a vermut and easy food.

Didn't expect to find such a busy upbeat place to eat and drink so far up in Montjuic Park. But after our climb, I'm grateful for it! Seating areas range around the small building with a few tables right near the fence with a view looking out over the Sea. Very busy on the lovely Sunday afternoon we visited, but a bit of patience gets you into the bar, and a little more may be needed to get a seat. It is a spot meant to linger and enjoy. There are some picnic tables nearby as well, which is where we sat. Enjoy the view, enjoy a drink!

Google
I give it 5* for the view, tranquility and uniqueness of the place. Perfect way to escape the city which gets more and more crowded with tourists at this time of year. It’s a set menu with one dish - barbecue; so not for vegetarians. And one dessert, crepes. Card board and plastic plates and utensils. However, no need to come for food, next time I come will stick to just the drinks.

Cool place! The bartenders were nice but the people serving had a rude attitude even towards kids. Really dumb to work in the service industry if you are going to be so mad at everyone

I can not really comment on the food or drinks, only the service. I had found this place on Google Maps as was excited to have a drink here after a long walk around the Montjuïc Castle. When we arrived, however, we were told there were no seats available (there were 2 of us). Looking around there were several open tables and when we tried to ask the waitress how long a wait there would be, she just shrugged her shoulders, told us they were full and walked away. I've posted the pictures I took to show the empty tables available when we arrived. Perhaps there were reservations, but had no way of knowing. Really felt as if we were treated poorly because we were tourists. Unless you have reservations here, I wouldn't risk taking the time to walk here as it's a long way to get there and back from the castle when you might not be able to get served.

Looks nice, but we went at 18.00 cause it says on the internet and it opened at 19.30... so we asked for a beer while waiting but they said no and we had to leave. Don't know but...

The location absolutely amazing, the vibe and live music was incredible. The food was ok, I didn’t feel like it was worth €25, however it was good enough and the everything else made up for it!! Absolutely fantastic day!!

I don’t understand the bad reviews actually. Of course, this not a place to visit if you want to do some fine dining. Nevertheless, if you want to experience a Spanish BBQ night with live music and good vibes, this is the place to go. I loved every single second yesterday. Definitely recommended and I will definitely come back.

Yelp
A controlled chaos of wandering tourists attempting to sneak away reservation notes, dads carrying armfuls of beer from the counter to their uphill table and employees offering service if/when they can get to you. We made a reservation, which apparently holds that table for you during the entire lunch service, and were seated in front of the stage. You must fetch your own beverages from a station behind the building and chase the servers down for your BBQ meal when your table is hungry. Honestly, we had a blast. Food was nothing special but I would recommend the visit to anyone adventurous!

Yelp
Awful awful people manage this place, literally purchased drinks and sat down at at empty table and was told to get out. I'm unsure if there people have ever heard of etiquette and hospitality.Nice view but awful experience.

Yelp
First the only good thing: The views. Ok, now all the bad things. The place has a lot of tables around the house. The ground and surroundings are full of waste, because everything you order in this place comes in plastic (specially glasses and dishes) . Oder and waiters: They act very unprofessional and are not kind at all. It´s like they don´t need clients, because they got "stupid" one-time tourists. Finally we place an order, its takes like 10 Minutes to get something, drinks not cold, plastic glasses etc.... Paying is again a torture, because the waiter doesn't know what we ordered.... I wont go back again, and can recommend this place to anyone. Sorry for the waste of good location......maybe it´s all fault of the massive tourism.....

Yelp
The food here is downright bad. The BBQ was dry and overcooked and almost tasteless. The crepes were even more tasteless. The view is above a port, about as ugly as you can find in this beautiful city. It would be hard to do worse.
