La Casona boutique hotel in laid back La Paz Bolivia had a narrow front door, but one was pleasantly surprised with a fairly spacious hotel lobby. The bell boy and front desk staff are extremely friendly. There is a table with teabags to make a cuppa, to ward off the cold. However, the room was cold and rather dated and small. Stayed 2 nights and in-between hotel stored our luggage for our tour group when we went to the Uyuni salt flats. Within couple minutes of walking distance to many souvenir stores. The hotel restaurant food was very delicious. Huge and tasty portions of chicken snitzel and breaded beef dishes. Love that the hotel provided 1 free cocktail at their bar, to guests.

A really great place to stay. The building is a colonial house with a great charm. The crew is very nice and efficient. They also have a high class restaurant with a non negligible wine cellar.|It’s in the middle of the old town, just beside the most important monument of Lima. The surroundings are pretty crowded.

Centrally located hotel. Good facilities in a traditional colonial building. Staff very friendly and helpful. Basic amenities and e.g. pills for altitude sickness in the room at a charge. Overall, this hotel shines through its' very friendly and helpful staff!

Dine at the restaurant. Meat was alright, just too salty, and the food service is ridiculously slow. Earth and lake Salad is terrible, must be the worst I had in Bolivia. The trout “ tartar” is not being served until we asked, and the server brought out three pieces of small trout, 2 pieces are still half frozen, 1 piece is warm. Not gonna explain more, but I will basically fire the whole kitchen if I am the owner. Simply pathetic.

We just spent 18 days in Bolivia, and La Casona was a stand out hotel. This is really 5 star hospitality, and facility. I stayed there on three occasions . This was an oasis on a trip that found us staying in in some very rustic locations.||There are so many good things to say and small details that they got right . The front desk was super helpful with our luggage and with giving us the best available room. They even got to know our preferences. So the third time we came back, we didn’t even have to ask.||They offer airport shuttle service for a fee. Their driver Gonzalo was super accommodating and easy to deal with. He picked us up in the middle of the night after a 5 hour delay, answered his phone and was at the airport within ten minutes.||The room was clean and comfortable, the large bed reminded us of home. The shower was hot and warming. And the viewsfrom. The room were good.||The breakfast was great and also the attached restaurant had huge portions and great food as well.||I would go back there tonight if I could .

Stayed here twice, at the beginning and end a of a two-week tour of Bolivia. The first three days were very good, nice room, good amenities, no issues, would rate a 4 star. |The second stay of two days, the room was unacceptable and the man at the front desk totally disregarded me.as I requested the same room I had 10 days earlier. The room had basically no window and in order to go to the bathroom, you had to step up one high step of about 8 or 9 inches. Doing this in the middle of the night is a major safety hazard.

Place is nice, location good. I just was one of the unlucky ones to have not the best experience. The booking taxi was mixed up for me I asked for a taxi for 4:30pm they did it for 4:45 am. I got a call at 4:45 am, then multiple calls, then they came up stairs knocked on my door said paper I said what do you want. They walked away. Then called me again at 5 am saying a taxi is outside for me. I wasn’t able to sleep personally after feeling sketched out with the experience. I told reception my situation asking for a discount on the late check out cause I hadn’t slept. They gave me 4 bolivianos off of 264 bolv. No compensation like you have in Europe and changed my room to a noisy one after I’d brought the checkout. Facilities were good and staff were friendly.

I have mixed feelings. The hotel is centrally located, and there are some great hotel staff who were helpful, and the hotel's restaurant and waiters/waitresses were wonderful. The rooms are OK and the hotel atmospheric. | A few things were bothersome:| 1. We asked for neighboring rooms for us and our kids and this request was made months ago, so I wish they honored our request. They did not, for both our initial check-in, and our subsequent visit after we did Uyuni. | 2. The last person who checked us out claimed that my wife's make-up had rubbed onto the bathroom towel, and as a result they were unusable. These make-ups always wash off, but they charged us $20 to replace them right away (they did not even attempt to put it in laundry). This is something we've never encountered ever before, and seems like a scam to make a quick buck (we even offered to leave a CC # so they can charge it after they at least give laundry a try, but the person at the front insisted on cash upfront). It clearly wasn't worth a fight, so he got my $20, but lost my vote.
