La Casona Típica

The food was just ok, it IS typical Costa Rican food, but the flavor was just not there. I feel like they took flavor out to fit the American palette. The presentation was great, service was good, the decor was awesome to look at, but the table was very sticky. If you decide to go during the morning/early afternoon I would skip this place and go to the Mercado (market) instead. Better flavor and prices.

First meal here! A good breakfast had! I had the one with sour cream and my husband with cheese- neither like we know as back home but nice! The rice and beans with fried plantain was good. Decent portion sizes too and the fruit juices are good! Highly recommend.

This is a casual place and it had good food. We were on a tour, and the tour guides took us to the restaurant. I had fish and it was good. The dessert was very sweet. Overall, it is a decent restaurant.

The beef steak here was really good. Of all the places we've visited in Costa Rica, the beef steak was seasoned the best here. We just had to order an additional cut on the side. The service was also quite friendly and checked in with us to see how we liked everything. This is a hidden gem in San José.

Local and good food. Price are good. Had a giant steak with sides for 15$

First food I have in Costa Rica so I don't have anything to compare to. But i liked it. lots of different flavors with my casado con carne

Our walking tour guide took us here for lunch after our tour and it was delicious! Highly recommended for authentic local food. I had the ‘chifrijo’ which was great - the usual rice and beans with crispy pork, guacamole, tomato and tortilla chips. Apparently not many restaurants have this dish so I would recommend trying it!
