We had an amazing evening when we visited La Castellana. The food was fabulous, we were lucky enough to try a starter from a special menu - cheesy (pecorino cheese if I remember correctly) flan with some truffle was outrageous. The truffle pasta was outstanding as well as all food and good, local Chianti wine. The staff was super friendly and the service was great. We booked the day before and got a table outside with a stunning, sunset view. We wish we had more days and nights in the Chianti region to visit La Castellana again - we will definitely visit again if we are around. The best dinner we had during our week stay in Tuscany. Highly recommend!

A Truly Special Dinner in the Heart of Chianti We had such an amazing experience at this restaurant—easily the best dinner we've had in Italy so far. The setting is beautiful, with a cozy, rustic vibe and a terrace that looks out over the Chianti hills. Even though we showed up about 30 minutes before closing and the place was clearly busy with reservations, the owner still found a way to seat us. You could tell how much he cares about his restaurant and the food he serves—he didn’t rush us at all, and he made us feel genuinely welcome. That kind of hospitality really stuck with us. The food was just incredible. We started with a board of delicate cured meats and cheeses that paired perfectly with a glass of local red wine. The lardo was especially memorable—thin, buttery, and topped with rosemary and spices. And the pasta? Absolutely delicious. Rich, hearty sauce with super tender meat on top—it was comfort food at its finest, but with a lot of care and flavor behind it. This place really has something special. Great food, a beautiful atmosphere, and an owner who truly pours his heart into what he does. If you're in the area, don’t miss it.

Hands down the best lunch in Tuscany. Everything was perfect - quality ingredients cooked simply, authentically with real skill and understanding, packing bags of flavour. Service was very friendly and efficient. Highly recommended! And the view from the terrace was breathtaking.

We had a very nice dinner for two. The ambience, service and food is all worth 5 stars. Together with a walk through the little town it was an authentic experience. It was €140 for 1 bottle of wine (35), 2 starters, 2 main courses and 1 desert.

We had the best dinner of our entire 3 week trip to Italy at this restaurant. The family was warm and welcoming and the food was amazing. We hope to one day make it back here!

Very enjoyable venue. The outdoor seating provides a stunning view of the Tuscan countryside from atop a hill.

Google
The best traditional Tuscan cuisine I’ve tasted in my five years of traveling in this region. The pasta and wine were just great, and the team was very friendly! This place was well worth the one-hour drive from where we stayed.

I would give this restaurant a million stars if i could. Best food and best people!! Our meal was truly amazing. The truffle tartare & truffle pasta were mind blowing! But more than that the people who run the restaurant were outstanding. We have 2 young daughters & they were so sweet to us. There was a storm happening while we had lunch & when we went back to our car it had sunk in the mud. We tried to push it out but it was stuck. We didn’t know what to do so my husband went back to the restaurant to ask for help. 5 minutes later 2 guys from the restaurant came to help us push the car. We were all covered in mud. As hard as we tried we couldn’t get the car out, but they made sure their friend with a tow truck came to help us. We couldn’t believe their kindness. We will always remember this experience & the amazing people at La Castellana. Truly the best. THANK YOU!

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic meal in Greve Chianti area of Tuscano. We sat outside and it was a lovely ambiance, with great service and outstanding food. We started with the bruschetta pomodoro, and the tomatoes were the best I have ever eaten (Including from a farm). They were exquisite! We also got the burrata with truffle and it was an explosion of flavors ! For dinner I got the truffle ravioli and my hubby got the filet. Both were fantastic. The pasta was just the right amount too, not huge like in America. For dessert we got the pistachio panna cotta. Highly recommend if you are in the area !!!!

Yelp
La Castellana. 5.0 + La Castellana is one of the restaurants we look forward to visiting every year. The restaurant is located in Montefioralle. La Castellana is owned and operated by a husband-and-wife team. A dinner at La Castellana is always the best meal in the Greve area. The restaurant has a small seating area indoors and a slightly larger outdoor seating area. The service team is very friendly. The menu offers many options, and they have a large selection of wines from throughout Italy. We had a group of 6 persons and we all ordered different main courses. Many of our dishes included truffles, which were especially appreciated. Feedback from everyone in our group was extremely positive. We even had one of our individuals order a second main course; a large order of sliced steak. He said the meat was perfect and sadly he would not share with the table. We also enjoyed a selection of desserts which we did all enjoy. Overall, one of the best meals we had during our stay in Italy.

Yelp
Pros: We sat outside, across from the actual restaurant surrounded by a view of the vast Tuscan countryside, unbelievable scenery. Our server was very kind and accommodating towards us non-Italian speakers. My brother and I had their Fiorentina steak and it is among the top 3 steaks I've EVER had, let the picture attached speak for itself... Aperol Spritz was solid. Not terribly expensive relative to other Fiorentina steaks in Tuscany/Florence. Cons: Wish this restaurant wasn't across the globe from my primary residence in Phoenix, Arizona!

Yelp
This restaurant is the textbook definition of a "hole in the wall" with amazing food. It has a 20-seat capacity, so make sure to reserve in advance. Very intimate and the staff is friendly. The crostini with white beans was a perfect appetizer. Followed by sliced steak with truffle that was one of the best cuts of meat I've had. For desert, I had a tiramisu that was spectacular. Finished it off with some great, local grappa. Bravissimo!

Yelp
Excellent food, service, and ambiance. Small, intimate, so be sure to make reservations. I had the cheese ravioli with truffles. So good! My husband had the tagliatelle with wild boar, a specialty in this part of Italy. If you've never had it, try it!

Yelp
One of the best meals in Tuscany! This is a small, beautiful and intimate restaurant with 5 plus stars food. The service was amazing. I had a long pasta (can't remember the name) with fresh truffles on top. The pasta was also fresh and homemade so it melted in the mouth... Absolutely delicious! I highly recommend it!

Yelp
I honestly can't say enough amazing things about our lunch here in late December. Such a peaceful, incredibly tasty pasta and steak experience just outside the walls of Montefioralle. Everything from the bruschetta to the Florentine steak to the wild boar pasta to the truffle ravioli were some of the best bites of the week. The truffle ravioli is actually the best ravioli I've had in my life. Every bite from the first to the eventual last had the same flavor through and through. Perfect ratio of filling to dough, the right amount of truffles so that they didn't overpower, not doused in sauce or oil or anything of that nature. Incredibly fresh ingredients that sing together in such harmony. Wouldn't be surprised if ravioli was ruined for me forever after this...

Yelp
5/5 for food. 5/5 for view. 5/5 for hospitality. My wife and I made the short trip from Florence to Montefioralle, and it exceeded our expectations (both this restaurant and the beautiful little town). This restaurant was definitely a favorite meal during our trip.... we both ordered off the fresh truffle menu; I had the short pasta with ground pork and truffle, and my wife had the ravioli. Both were decadent, and different enough that it was fun to trade bites. We also started with the mixed charcuterie (misto), which was huge and also great. The outdoor seating area is literally right on a cliff, with a peaceful, quiet view of the valley below. It's an excellent respite from the crowds in Florence. The servers were very attentive, despite the outdoor seating area being across the small road from the restaurant.

Yelp
We've been in Italy for 4 weeks so far and this, by far, was the best meal we have had. The wine list is great, the food is delicious and the service was wonderful. You don't want to pass this place up.

Yelp
Amazing food! The service is excellent as well! The place is absolutely breathtaking and the patio area is beautiful. I tried a pasta with truffle and I couldn't ask for a better meal. They also have an excellent wine menu. A must try if you are in the Chianti area!

Yelp
The most amazing food in the cutest little town. I can't say enough good things about this cozy restaurant. I would come back in a heartbeat.

Yelp
Our first visit was to check it out. Our son arranged to have his rehearsal dinner there the night before his wedding. Since we were from the US we had to rely on the wedding planners recommendation. Needless to say we weren't disappointed. We've been three times and will return one more time to wrap up our 17 days in Italy. A truly fantastic Italian meal experience. Each time we were greeted by the owner, Alissandro upon entering. Once seated a complimentary Proseco was served to us before the meal arrived. As was a complimentary glass of dessert wine at the end of our meal. The day of the rehearsal dinner the same treatment was afforded to my sons 20+ guests. Food was served family style and was outstanding...all received the complimentary beverages in addition to what was purchased. An experience no one will forget. Thank you Allisandro & staff! One more aha moment...Allisandro heard our son was sick and his Mama prepared a bowl of chicken soup just for him!

Yelp
You must try to go to this little gem in Montefioralle up the hill from Greve in Chianti. The food is exceptional. I had a delicious vegetarian gnocchi for first followed by a pork steak that was cooked perfectly in Tuscan style with simple herbs of rosemary. The local Montefioralle wine is really exceptional - some of the best if not the best chianti in a world of great chianti IMHO. The place is small and right by the side of the road as you enter Montefioralle from the road from Greve. Make an effort. The city itself (well, the little hill top town) is also well worth a visit and makes it on many tourist itineraries. Also recommend the stuffed ravioli with fresh brown truffles sauce. UNBELIEVABLE.

Yelp
During our 10 day trip to Italy, we spent the majority of our time in Tuscany, eating some of the best food and drinking some of the best wine of our lives, in one of the prettiest places on earth. And this gem, which we happened to find by accident on our way to the Greve wine festival, was by far the best experience we had during our entire trip. I just can't say enough good things about this place. The first thing you notice about La Castellana is that the tables are situated on the side of a huge hill with an amazing view. As soon as we sat down, we noticed that the majority of the other diners were locals. Great start. We ordered the bruschetta and the cheese/meat plate. Amazing. They had a venison salami that was one of the best things I have ever put into my mouth, and the bruschetta was very good as well. I ordered the steak with a grilled portabella mushroom. My mouth is literally watering as I write this. It was just simply amazing. Perfection. The rest of the table had steak in peppercorn sauce, a wild boar bolognese, and eggs with fresh truffles. Everyone said it was the best meal they had during their time in Italy. The table wine was probably the best we had as well. The staff would get 5 stars even if the food would not have. It was not a serious atmosphere by any means, but I felt like it was very important to them that we enjoyed our entire experience, and we did. We left feeling like we had been going to La Castellana every Saturday afternoon for years, and knew every server by name. If you are in or around Greve, please do not miss out on the opportunity of dining here.

Yelp
Had to report that our children went for dinner here away from kids and parents and they came home with stars in their eyes. From their first sip of wine and their entrees, they were hooked. They regaled us with raves because it is not their nature to overstate anything. We have recommended this restaurant to everyone we know visiting Greve and its neighborhoods.

Yelp
This restaurant is absolutely amazing! It was my favorite meal in Italy. We started with a cheese board with honey and a few other jams, which was delicious. I also had fresh pasta with wild boar and some of the famous Florentine T-Bone steak. Both were so good! The atmosphere and service were some of the best in Europe. My kid had beef with a balsamic sauce and he devoured every bite! And he said his side of potatoes was "the best potatoes ever!" My waitress's recommendation of wine was absolutely divine and it complemented the food very well. I would highly recommend this place to anyone staying near Montefioralle. We will be back!

Yelp
For starter we had burrata with truffel. Very good. Primi we shared ravioli with truffles and mushroom, and pappardela (pasta) with wild boar. Also excellent. Secondo we had tagliata (sliced meat) with spinach and grilled vegetables. Also very good. Wine, we simply had the house wine, local chianti classico which was very good. Service was excellent. Location is up in the hillside, very nice to walk around before the meal. Recommended. Ps. Make reservation for outside.

Yelp
Fantastic fantastic fantastic! Best food we had in Tuscany. Romantic atmosphere. It's run by a small family. You must stop here if you are in the area.

Yelp
Very very very good food!! We got 3 bruschettas a tortellini and penne pasta with tomato sauce. The view from the outdoor seating was beautiful and in a very cute location. I ate as much as I could handle and enjoyed every bite I took.
