Cartagena: A City of Color, Tourists, and Food

"Bourdain put this spot on the map as having the best ceviche in the city; I’m not sure if that’s strictly true, but everything I had there was top-notch — come early because it gets super busy as soon as it opens." - Matthew Kepnes

Best ceviche in Cartagena & probably all of Colombia. The staff are also phenomenal - felt like dining with friends. We went back twice in one week. The grilled lobster, the Miss Celanea, the mixed Colombian Ceviche in temptation and the seafood volcano were all sooo delicious. Even the dessert was great - the one with the warm plantains and vanilla ice cream. All the tastes shall live rent free in my memory forever.

We were so happy to stumble upon this little resturant on the corner inside the walled city in Cartegena after watching Anthony Bourdain's show, "No Reservations." This place has the best cerviche. Not only do they have the classic flavor available they also have some delicious twists on ceviche. We tried the coconut ceviche and it was amazing! We also ordered the Arroz Vietnamete. It was served in a coconut shell with lots of coconut rice and seafood in a sauce. When I say delicious, I mean it was delicious. Must try when in Cartegena.

I came here after hearing Anthony Bourdain visited, and I was not disappointed! The ceviche is definitely on the pricier end, but the fish is so delicate and the seasoning and sauce is incredible. It's very light and satisfying at the same time. I went with the coconut and one other, we did one small and one medium which was plenty. Again expect to spend a little more, but totally worth it. The drinks were good too, but the highlight is the fish!

La Cevichería serves the best seafood I’ve ever had. The lobster, calamari, and shrimp tasted like home cooking with an elegant twist. The mixed seafood with fresh fruit and mango sauce was unforgettable, bursting with flavor. The staff were exceptional, making me feel like royalty with their warm, professional service. I’ll be back in Cartagena, and this spot will be my first stop. Highly recommended!

Do not sit outside unless you want to tip every single performer that performs while you eat. We’ve had 4 performers in the span of an hour. They come directly to you to ask for tips. We came here because it was popularized by Anthony Bourdain. It probably was great back then but definitely not today. The dishes were spammed with lots and lots of shrimps. The ceviche didn’t taste fresh. Octopus tasted like rubber. It was overall an unpleasant dinner and it’s overpriced too. Go somewhere else

I ate here while on vacation. The food was very good I believe my meal was the Vietnamese rice that contained multi meats. The service was good with friendly workers. The atmosphere was nice too. My next trip I will be dining here.

The ceviche here is fantastic – really fresh and flavorful. Lina was our server, and she was wonderful. She made sure we had everything we needed and provided excellent service.

Was recommended this place by our hotel concierge and our Uber driver and it did not disappoint! Didn’t know Anthony Bourdain came here too and enjoyed it. No surprise because it was amazing. I love ceviche and am pretty critical when it comes to a good one, all of their ceviches hit the spot. We tried 3 ceviches and 1 appetizer. The Coco & Limon ceviche was the best and a must have! The seafood was fresh and the juices of lime, coconut, tangerine, etc. that the ceviche was drenched in was fresh was well. My fiancé doesn’t like seafood as much, but he loved the ceviches here. So fresh and so good. Our server Deymer, did an amazing job! He made sure we were well taken care of and made some great recommendations, and all with a big smile on his face. Amazing service!
