My friends, my wife and I had an exceptional dinner at La Cloche , which is a Michelin rated restaurant. We started with a small pot of fondue with three different cheeses mixed with some local wine. They served this with two bowls of chopped up bread. This was absolutely delicious and worth the trip to France! Se slso had delicious duck, white asparagus and fantastic chicken!

Google
Amazing! Luckily we had just watched The Amazing Race episode that featured this restaurant. As cheese lovers we knew we had to go. We enjoyed a weekday lunch and chose to sit outside in the beautiful weather. We had the Munster fondu and the essentials tasting plate. Definitely a highlight of our trip!

Google
We came for a raclette and it was an unforgettable experience to watch the cheese melt down from the whole loaf right at our own table. We had the chance to switch the cheese and both sorts were incredibly good. The cheese master is always open for a good chat and recommendations. The service was super courteous and speaking multiple languages. We couldn't resist to shop for more cheese to go at their store across the street. We will sure come back and try the fondue!

Google
I had the most amazing first-time experience having Raclette! The staff were really lovely, friendly and recommended the best wine and food! The dessert was also delicious! Definitely recommend going here, but make sure you book!

Holy wow! If you know your cheeses, LOVE your cheeses, and have no fear of trying different cheeses, come on in! Cheese trays by size and type of cheeses, served with instruction on the order in which to taste. Old-fashioned raclette heaters presented with half wheels of cheese, served with bread, pickled vegetables, and meats. And the servers we experienced during a lunch visit were more than happy to help in English. Thoroughly enjoyed, and if you like your large meal midday, it is much quieter and one has more personal service. FYI: we went on a Thursday at 1215 with a reservation.

Google
Amazing experience! Friendly staff, variety and quality of cheese was un paralleled! Helpful in selecting a wine, and even the small side salad(recommended by our waiter) was a show-stopper! I saw many people ordering the fondue and that looked incredible too! 10/10!!! A MUST when in Strasbourg.

Google
Loved the raclette. We had the Raclette à la sarriette des Hautes Alpes which was great! It had herbs which made the cheese more dynamic. We also had white and red wine. They offer wine in multiple sizes (glass, 20cl, 50cl and bottle) which is really great if people at the table have different wine tastes. Zoe was great. Very attentive and super nice, explaining all the details of the concept. And of course there is the large cheese holder that is 🤩. Come hungry! We finished with the cheese ice cream, which was super fun. It’s a more expensive meal but you get in quality and proportion was you pay for. Definitely recommend!

Google
We happened upon here today while wandering Strasbourg. We initially stopped just for a drink, but when we saw the menu we knew we needed to stay. The cheese board we got was amazing. The selection was unique and delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. We would definitely return!

Yelp
Quite possibly my favorite restaurant in the world! It's just fondue, right? Well...yes. But the Munster fondue is absolutely fantastic! My wife and I ate there twice on our recent visit to Strasbourg. Both times we finished off two pots of Munster fondue. It's so, so tasty. Nice that after a 10 year hiatus for us the fondue is just as good as always. Make a reservation or you'll likely not score a table

Yelp
This may rank as one of the best meals of my life. The cheese fight was an amazing experience, my kids and I were emerged for 40 min reflecting on the flavors of each piece. My teen daughter who lives on fast food described it as life changing.

Yelp
Everything was great, especially the fondue and the Raclette. We had a great regional Pinot Noir that was better than most bottles 3-4 times more expensive. Helpful and friendly service. Highly recommended.

Yelp
This place incredible! This restaurant was one of my first introductory impressions of French cuisine as this is my first time in France. My party and I arrived here for a late dinner. We all ordered wine to start as we read the menus and decided on what to eat. The wine is fantastic and there were some great selections. My friend ordered the raclette and was pleased with his decision. We all tried some of this awesome melted cheese on bread and potatoes. It was rich and delicious. A couple of us chose the beef tenderloin and it was some of the best beef I've ever had. They brought it out beside the table and set the steak on fire to give it a quick braised flavor with seasoned butter spread over the top. Another friend got the quail and the presentation was quite impressive and it tasted awesome! We finished our wine and meal with a tiramisu and a coffee and while the tiramisu wasn't my favorite, everything else exceeded my expectations so much that it doesn't even matter what I thought about dessert. I cannot wait to back to a Strasbourg w so that I can eat here again!

Yelp
I came here for lunch on a jour férié, shortly before the restaurant opened for lunch. There were already a few people milling around outside when the place opened, as it's popular with tourists and centrally located. I was seated promptly (I had not made a reservation). The inside of the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the cloche à fromage is the obvious centerpiece. It was pretty cool to watch the staff work with the cheese. I didn't think I was hungry enough for an all-you-can eat fondu meal, so I ordered the plat du jour, which was veal liver with tagliatelle and blue cheese sauce. The plat du jour was a reasonably priced 11,50€ and I believe it is only available for lunch. My food was very tasty and a generous portion. It also came with a small selection of petits pains. I was able to get a free carafe of tap water. After my meal, I ordered a pot of green tea, which was served with 2 pieces of delicious, melt-in-your mouth dark chocolate--a nice touch. The staff were a lot friendlier/more involved than I was used to for a French restaurant; multiple people asked me how my food was while I was eating and the restaurant host made a point of saying goodbye to each customer as they left the restaurant. There was 1 American waitress who had a deep knowledge of the cheeses available and had a good rapport with a table of American customers who wanted advice on what to order (she also spoke French). The restaurant clearly caters in large part to tourists and there are some pricey things on the menu; however, I had a very nice, reasonably priced meal and would be happy to return to try their more expensive fondus/raclettes if I'm ever hungry enough.

Yelp
We arrived here without a reservation at around 9pm and there was nothing they could do. We would not be eating here until the next day at noon. So be it. The next morning we were wandering around the city enjoying the sights and sounds of old Strassbourg before we promptly made our way back here. Once again we were asked if we had reservations, but thankfully, we didn't need them this time, as we were early enough. Phew! We really wanted Fondue. Fondue and raclette is traditionally a winter time nourishment. However, due to popular demand it has become a favorite for tourists to sample during the summer. The cheese Master remembered us from the previous night and beckoned is in. Ahhhhh Fromage! This restaurant claims to have the worlds largest cheese-glass encasement. However, it doesn't seem that big. Probably large enough for the restaurant. Once we were seated we ordered two types of fondue: traditional fondue with bear garlic (apparently a sweater garlic) and fondue with Münster cheese, which was a classic style. The traditional fundue was a mix of three cheeses: Gruyere, Ementaller and Münster to which spices, herbs, local white wine or schnapps were added. The purpose of the alcohol is to cut the grease. Served and prepared by the Mater Cheese Chef who personally mixed and heated each cast iron bowl which he brought to our table where he place them on stands with candles that continued to heat the bubbling concoctions of glorious cheesy gooey goodness. Fondue forks in hand, Nicole and I forked bite sized pieces of bread into the fondue bowls with moans of heavenly delight! After a half and hour we began to feel ourselves fill, but we couldn't contain ourselves, we continued to forge onward crossing cheesy boundaries that no man had crossed before. These were after all, all you can eat! The Cheese Master walked by and told us a little bit about his apprenticeship. And how human palates are much like cheese. Tastebuds develop to appreciate stronger cheeses with age. We also asked what was the most cheese anyone had consumed to which he responded: a single person had devoured 2.5 kg, or half a wheel of cheese! If you ever wanted to answer the life long question of how much great quality cheese you can eat, then come to La Cloche Fromage!

Yelp
Who doesn't like a good cheese fondue?! Well this place blew fondue out of the water and is definitely the best cheese fondue I have ever had. Plus, it was all you can eat, so it just kept coming. Not only did we get to try a few different kinds of cheeses, but unlike most cheese fondue's it didn't get all thick and chunky after a few minutes. They really got the consistency right on point. They also provide an endless amount of bread to dip in your cheese. It's not cheap at 30 euros or so per person for the fondue alone but it's well worth it. You will get your cheese fix for a while and will leave the restaurant feeling stuffed. It's definitely going to be a gluten and lactose overload. They have a great wine selection from the Alsace region as well as some hits from the rest of the country by the glass and bottle. We actually tried a wine we liked so much we ended up visiting the winery the next day. You will definitely need to make a reservation as even on off hours, it's packed. Call to make a reservation as we didn't get a response through their website. We were on a trip in France for 2 weeks and ate here on our first night, and throughout the trip we kept thinking "cheese fondue?". Would return in a heartbeat!

Yelp
Honestly, the raclettes and fondus offered at the cheese cloche are not that great... the taste is average, the cold cuts offered with the raclettes are low quality and the prices are very expensive! Not really at will, because after a fondue or raclette you will no longer be hungry and will not order another one. The service is terrible and the waiters are rude! The value for money is nonexistent, you can find much better elsewhere and spend much less! At more than 33 euros per fondue or raclette, it is not worth this price for a so-called "at will" !!! Frankly avoid at all costs because they really take tourists for c ****! I will NEVER eat again in this restaurant !!!!

Yelp
Fine, interesting concept. Easy to get pulled into expensive cheese options. The typical choice is a fondue which frankly is way too much cheese for us. We went a completely different direction and chose their selection of sixteen cheeses. The "fromagier de la table" selected a collection of wonderful cheeses that went to light and nutty to full-Bodied and strong. He also recommended several excellent Alsatian wines that paired well with the cheese. In short, it was a rich culinary experience and we were completely satisfied as we learned about many different cheeses and how they were made from around France and Southern Europe. Finally, it should be noted that the cheeses are kept in this amazing and very large glass dome that kept them chilled and fresh. Overall, a fun and interesting experience.

Yelp
Make sure you call if you plan a lunch or dinner here, because the small and intimate space fills up rapidly. And with good reason - the food is outstanding (that is assuming you like cheese and if you don't like cheese what are you doing here in France?) In addition to amazing assortment plates, you can try the wonderful fondue or as we also opted on this visit the raclette or morbier with its portable rack to melt it over potatoes at your table. The servers are friendly, helpful, and energetical enthusiasts about the menu offerings. A must try if you are in town....

Sara J.

Yelp
The food is delicious! Very traditional French restaurant. Some of the waiters were not the nicest.

Yelp
This place is sensational! I had never had cheese fondue before, but I am definitely a fan of it now. Just imagine, dipping pieces of bread and vegetables into a slowly bubbling potful of rich, savory, uber melted cheeses of the highest quality. As you bring the piece of bread out, the cheese solidifies a bit in the open air, creating gooey endless strings to bring to your mouth and enjoy. Even better, this place is all you can eat so you can try all of their yummy cheesy combinations, if you so desire, and if you have the room in your stomach to do so. My sister and I only had room for two, so we ordered the bleu cheese fondue, as well as one which contained Emmentaler, Comte, Gruyere, and kirsch. They recommend that you start with the lighter flavored one first, then proceed to the stronger flavored combos. The Emmentaler fondue was delightful. We enjoyed every bite. But, the blue cheese one was the one we loved the best. If you think that it might be too strong, as a result of the blue cheese, do not worry. The flavor is perfectly controlled and the little bit of chili spice they add really kicks things up a notch. My sister doesn't even like blue cheese, but she declared this one her favorite. The fondues only come with a basketful of bread pieces. But, I highly recommend that you order the veggie combo as well. You'll leave here full and happy.

Yelp
We really wanted to go to this restaurant. We were in Strasbourg for 4 nights and they were booked night and day. Might leave a few open for walkins

Lucy S.

Yelp
I died and went to cheese heaven. A restaurant entirely dedicated to cheese? What's not to love! I am so excited that I discovered this place on my recent trip, everything about it is wonderful. It's so wonderful that we even came back the next day to eat even more cheese! We sampled two of the cheese boards, one more traditional and one of the more stinky varieties. Both were amazing and the server explained each cheese in great detail and the order in which we were supposed to eat them. We also got a selection of cold cuts to go with the cheese and some wine and it was glorious. The next time we went, we tried the fondue which was equally exciting and came with bread and veggies. You get to stir the fondue pot yourself and they add copious amounts of wine to it and light it on fire which is grand. I would recommend to book ahead, as seating fills up fast and they are only open for 2 hours for lunch, and another 2 hours for dinner. If I lived closer I'd come every week.

Sarah G.

Yelp
All you can eat fondue or raclette?! Call this heaven. For just 28.50€/person, you can have all the cheesy goodness you want, complete with roasted potatoes, charcuterie, pickled veggies, and bread. They refill as soon as you're almost done with the last batch. My husband and I got the raclette with three glasses of wine and the total was 70€. A steal for the delicious cheese and the experience. The raclette is brought to your table as a half round of cheese (huge) and melted slowly over a plate of food as you sit and enjoy what it's already rendered. It's amazing. The staff is friendly, including the cheese chef himself who comes around your table to give you directions on how to make your meal. Most staff speaks English as well. Worth it! Pace yourself, though. We left stuffed with delight.

Lori W.

Yelp
Walking distance from our hotel. We love cheese and the appropriately named restaurant didn't disappoint. The raclette was a given - especially when it was "all you can eat"!! Seriously, we had great service and sat outdoors. Have to love the French and their five hour work day - we could learn a few things... Great wine, excellent service and cheese cheese cheese! Not sure why there are some negative reviews. Good grief, you're in France and there is cheese and wine! After spending two nights eating & drinking in Zurich on the back end of the trip, this was inexpensive!!

LaDonna H.

Yelp
The most amazing Onion Tarte Flambé. As an American experiencing this for the first time, I am hooked! Can't wait to return!!!

Ben L.

Yelp
A previous Yelper described La Cloche as "A heavenly cheese and fondue experience". Yep....that sounds about right! We met some great friends in Strasbourg for a weekend lunch with not much of an idea what this place was all about. All I knew is that there was cheese, GLORIOUS CHEESE! And they had something called a "raclette" and I must learn more about it. Our meal started off with our campy and sarcastic waiter. He certainly had us laughing throughout the meal. Most of us at the table opted for the all-you-can-eat raclette plates. It was a smorgasbord of cured meats, potatotes, and vegetables where you top everything with ooey-gooey cheese. Yes, that is what I said. Melted cheese! They bring the raclette device to your table where an entire cheese wheel rests and it continuously melts raw milk-cheese onto your plate. How dreamy! Our meal was rich and delicious. We stuffed ourselves until we couldn't eat any more cheese or salami. The meal was a tad pricey but an excellent treat. I definitely recommend adding La Cloche as one of your meals in Strasbourg!

Nola G.

Yelp
I loved this restaurant. The food exceeded my expectations!! I have had fondue before in Switzerland and I have made it on many occasions. The Traditional Fondue is actually a blending of three cheeses and a variety of breads with added another dimension to fondue. Try not to stir the put so the oil does not separate as much. Most customers ordered the raclette which looked amazing!! The restaurant is all-you-can-eat which I did not know until the waiter asked if I wanted more fondue. Of course I wanted to say yes but I was stuffed! They offer a Carte of Fidélité...after 15 stamps you can receive €25 to use at either the restaurant or the fabulous boutique across the alley. They do not accept American Express. Please make reservations for both lunch and dinner. Also, don't forget to visit the boutique. www.tourette.com

Yelp
A few years ago I went to a dead show (great full dead minus Jerry) in Sacramento California. There I proceeded to get really high and the conversation turned to the grill cheeses being sold and vegan-ism. The ultimate question came to be: Could you live in a world without cheese. Which my concert partner and myself conducted a survey with random dead heads. For myself and most the answer was Hellz NO! So when I found this French cheese place I entered a kind of Nirvana where the whole meal was comprised of high quality cheeses! I needed the authentic fondue from the Alsace region where my heritage is from. With the fat cutting Alsace red wine. I ate all I could, consuming over a pound of cheese! I felt like I had died and gone to heaven but it was actually a food comma setting in. This experience reassured me that my original conclusions: that I could not live in a world with out cheese is still valid!

Ashley J.

Yelp
Emailed two weeks in advance for a reservation and apparently we were on the list, although nobody ever emailed back to confirm, so we thought we didn't have a reservation and they were booked for a week. We are so glad we got in: the traditional fondue (the one with emmental and kirch) is the best food on earth. We had the Muenster fondue as well, and we all agreed we should have just gotten double the traditional. Service was stellar and we stumbled home happy and cheese drunk.

Amanda D.

Yelp
We attempted to eat here. The owner greeted us and could not have been more snobby. He basically said his restaurant is soooo great it is not possible to get a reservation. His exact words were "Not tonight, not tomorrow, not the next night" His attitude changed from pleasant to indifferent once he heard us speak. I'm guessing it's because we are American. ugh... The place a few doors down (M Bistro) is delicious and friendly.

Hannah F.

Yelp
This is a perfect restaurant for the serious cheese lovers. They have a exclusive selection of the finest cheeses. The cheese master really knows a lot about tge fromages. We ordered the raclette and cheese platter with a gewurzstraminer wine. Absolute fab!

Todd B.

Yelp
Absolutely great. The staff is super friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. We chose the raclette and the waiter recommended a perfect Alsatian wine for us to share with it. Their house aperitif, like a kir royale, is also fantastic. Highly recommend booking a reservation in advance, which can be done by email.

Cassio C.

Yelp
Best cheese i had in my life! Fondue, raclette, strasbourg Pinot noir. Everything is amazing at this restaurant. Thibaut the manager and Master Cheese is very friendly and explains in details about e erything he prepares. For who are going to Strasbourg, this restaurant is a must. PS: reserve a table before going there. It is always full :)

Mariano A.

Yelp
A heavenly cheese and fondue experience. IF there is cheese fit for the gods, it would have to be the raclettes and the fondues served at this establishment! I highly recommend that you try order one fondue style cheese. I liked the sheeps milk but the traditional was my favorite. Also, try the Swiss Raclette cheese which you will then eat 'raclette' style, by heating the outside of the cheese and scraping off the melted parts onto a plate which will have either meat, potatoes or veggies of your choice. If you are from the states (US), then try the raclette. Fabulous dining experience and wonderful service! The staff was very nice and friendly, and spoke great english when we respectfully asked to transition from the basic french we had used up. Don't miss out on this place when in Strasbourg!

Michelle E.

Yelp
I travel for business and have been to this restaurant now 3 times in that last few months. Great service, Catherine is the best!. Have tried two different types of raclette, regular fondue, and blue cheese fondue during these various trips. We also had a custom plate of cheeses(thank you Catherine) of many different cheeses from part of Europe which was a great treat for someone from the US as many of these cheeses I had never heard of. I tried fondue also in Geneva, at two different restaurants and would say the fondue I had here(La Cloche a Fromage) was actually the best fondue I have had. I would and have highly recommended this place to other co-workers traveling to Strasbourg and will continue to visit on my future trips.

Su B.

Yelp
We didn't order the fondue and had the sea bass and steak on special... stick with the fondue, I guess. The sea bass was tasteless despite a ragout on top and the potatoes tasted like nothing but mayo had been added to them. We did try one of the cheese plates which was yummy but for €100 we were very disappointed. The salad was simply inedible and the Bordeaux was just ok.

Greg F.

Yelp
Make sure to make reservations! We had ours set for 1200, and they filled up immediately! Great fondue, and excellent service. Very accommodating to 4 adults/4 kids. Menu a challenge for picky little ones but we expected that. Would definitely recommend if visiting Strasbourg!

Edgar C.

Yelp
Absolument parfait. Delicious food, divine menu, impeccable service. A bit expensive but absolutely worth it. You might want to make a reservation because it is often very busy. Don't forget the cheese shop, to bring home some more delicious cheeses!

Scott E.

Yelp
If you are a fan of cheese, then this is your place. They have a selection of over 200 different varieties to choose from, with a massive cheese case displaying (some of) them as you enter. You can choose to do a cheese sampling on one of their "tours" (I did a washed-rind tour of France), a raclette, fondue, or something less cheese-based (but let's be real, you're here for the cheese). The staff works as one, with no one person being assigned to your table, so the service is seemless and attentive. They of course have a good selection of wines (not whines) to go with your cheese, and they have a sommelier who is quite knowledgeable to recommend a pairing for what you've ordered. I spoke French with the staff, but they were happy to speak English with me if I wanted. Everyone was very friendly, and I was quite happy at the end. The only negative is the price, but in the end it's worth it for the experience.
