La Colonie Maison d'Hôtes (Collonges, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The village of Aubrac has been something of a stopoff for travelers for at least 900 years, being a site of pilgrimage along a well-established Roman road. Standing near the entrance to the village is the stately La Colonie, an update of the 1900s Hôtel Parisien. The Colonie’s rooms come from a French countryside tradition, rustic yet chic and warm. Two loft apartments occupy the top floor, with an arching ceiling granting the luxury of space. La Colonie maintains relationships with offsite Thai massage specialists as well as a thermal spa, and the concierge can point travelers in the direction of museums, restaurants and opportunities to sample local wines." - Tablet Hotels

Nested in the village centre, this old building has character and offers a spacious back garden, very quiet. The hosts are kind, caring and happy to make your stay a good memory. We stayed in the small apartment in the annexe. Spotless clean, comfortable, pretty and with a very well equipped kitchen. You have the option of having a dinner served in the garden, next stay we will try it. A great place to stop and relax after a long drive from or to Italy.

On their expedia page, they should speak English. However, Julien only spoke French with a broadcast speed. WHO IS PLAYING THE LIE? Mark: foreigner unfriendly, (solo) female unfriendly, pet unfriendly = kid unfriendly To the owner: please state which line below was a lie, and why the comment is insulting. Please report to the police or other authority if you think what I do is illegal. This whole process is obviously a robbery and I will call the owner a potential racist as his behavior is in line with other definite racists I ever encounted. The owner is super rude and only wants money. This translates into a robbery. I was on vacation from Lyon, France to Geneve, Switzerland with a small dog. I booked the room one night before on expedia and I clearly remembered that I put accompany dog allowed as a search criteria. Cancellation was allowed until the same night but I did not expect cancellation, for obvious reasons. The next morning, I saw an SMS on my phone. It looked like a reminder saying that please call the logement because dogs is not allowed. I then called the hotel, and was told to contact expedia because the owner sent a note on expedia. The owner was very rude. This should not have happened even though my french is not that good. I called expedia, who then contacted the owner, and refused the cancellation with refund. The excuse was dog not allowed is their policy and they cannot resell the room. They were listing their room the entire time, it was not full. I insisted and explained, while at the same time noticed that they sent me a message on expedia, this message goes unnoticed very easily. I realized that the owner could have called me when they realized that I had a dog but they decide to be concealing simply because they want the money. How poor this owner is! For 140 EURs, a property owner robbed a young foreign traveler who is a student without much money. I was furious and I kept complaining. This time expedia told me that the owner agreed to take a consideration and needs 72 hours to reply. It turned about to be a lie as the owner or expedia never replied. They simply wanted to kick me away without offering anything as a human or as a normal business entity. What a wonderful hotel called the colony, as if the owner is an old-time slave driver who colonized this piece of property between France and Switzerland to have the benefit of squeezing money from their inferior travelers.

Nice rooms and friendly owners, the dinner however left us a bit disappointed, because it was just not enough, especially after a full day of cycling. However, we didn’t have a reservation, so this might be different if we would have made a reservation and they would have had time to plan accordingly.

Stayed 2 nights and had a wonderful experience. Our flight was badly delayed but the owner stayed up very late to welcome us with true friendly professionalism. |The rooms are large, very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean & fully equipped. The breakfast is great - plenty, varied and tasty. The dinner in the garden was great - salad, bread & smoked salmon or cheeses with water & wine & a fruit salad for 21 euros. |Would recommend. |Classy.

We have just returned from a wonderful 4 night stay at this lovely B&B nestled in the hillside in Collonges. Maud and Julien were the perfect hosts and made us all feel extremely welcome. The rooms are large yet cosy and everything you need is provided great for both business and leisure stays with the work area thoughtfully equipped with pens and pencils and a desk lamp. The bathrooms are large and like the rooms spotlessly clean. Breakfast was a delight with delicious fresh fruits, nuts and cereals along with croissants , pain au chocolate and bread. We also enjoyed a delicious evening meal during our stay. La Colonie is conveniently placed for Geneva airport and exhibition centre and close to all the wonderful places this region has to offer. We throughly recommend a stay here and we will certainly be going back for another visit.

My husband and I spent two nights in this fantastic hotel. We loved the size of the room and the bathroom enormous. The provincial furnishings and decor is very tastefully done and suits the age of this beautiful building renovated in 2013. If ever in collanges you must stay here and be welcomed by the charming couple who own the hotel.

The hotel staff was very helpful and arranged also the booking for the dinner in a restaurant there around. ||Rooms were really nice, very big and in country style.||The breakfast was beautiful, on one big room all for us, and the owner served everything we would like to eat (at least all sweet breakfast, since we haven't asked for something salty). Also our child was welcomed in a perfect way by the landlord.||||Really suggested for a great stay!
