Had an extremely poor experience staying at La Costa Motel.
I had pre-booked a room for a quiet weekend getaway before moving out of Queensland, hoping to enjoy the beach one last time. Unfortunately, the experience was far from relaxing.
At around 11pm, I was abruptly woken by music and other commotions as guests in the adjoining room arrived late. There is absolutely no soundproofing between the units — sound travels directly through the old floorboards and the locked connecting door, making it impossible to ignore.
When I raised the issue, the host mentioned that they had accepted a last minute booking— on what happened to be a long weekend filled with music festivals and events.
Very disappointing, especially considering the price and the motel’s promotion of a peaceful beachside stay.
Ended up driving back home to Brisbane at midnight.
Would not recommend for anyone seeking a quiet or restful experience.
In response to owner.. ** Several other reviews also mention the lack of sound insulation. While the music and other noises weren’t excessively loud, the poor insulation made it feel as though their late night antics were happening inside our room. This made us feel very awkward and uncomfortable.
We didn’t feel it was reasonable to wait for a resolution, especially with a long drive ahead of us, so we decided to leave.
Reception doesn’t appear to be regularly attended — no one was present when we arrived, nor throughout the afternoon which, according to other reviews and website itself, seems to be a recurring theme. May have been different in the past however the current setup gives the impression of a hands off investment property with self service check in/ check out.
Guests are entitled to leave reviews, even when also requesting a reimbursement — completely normal. The dismissive tone and lack of accountability in the owner’s response to each poor review says a lot.
