On the Grid : LA CREMERIE

"If raw cheeses are your thing (and why wouldn't you be), check out La Cremerie, located on Swatow Street. Hand-selected by Myriam, La Cremerie's friendly in-house cheese master, this cute shop imports a wide selection of high-quality, farmhouse cheese varieties from all over France. You can also pick up butter, cream, and bread in store, along with a few wines available to pair with your choices." - Isabel Foo

We picked 4 bars to visit in this area (behind Odeon). This was the first one we visited and decided to stick here. The natural wine bit got us. We are glad we did. Had the best wines in some time. They had 3 wines each in red and white by the glass and a panoply by the bottle. We stuck to by the glass. They were so good that we bought 2 of the reds and one white to take home as bottles. If you do that- there is a discount- which was an added bonus. Service by Thibaut was exceptional. For food we had the cheese board (small) and some green beans. Highly highly recommended. July 2024

Obsessed. Such an amazing small plated wine bar. All of the plates are delicious. One of my favourites in Paris

Google
Wonderful spot for small plates and natural wine. Came for the wine, stayed for the food and cosy vibes. Chef George is a master in the kitchen, and a lovely chap. We felt so welcome, and so well fed. One of my new favourite spots in Paris — can’t wait to go back!

This is the perfect authentic gem you are looking for. From the wines, the food, and especially the lovely people. The hosts and staff are truly the most wonderful people I've ever met in Paris. They not only make sure you get just the right glass of wine for the moment, but also welcome you into their "home". I go again and again, and every time is as warm as the last. Don't hesitate. Go.

Google
By far the best food I’ve had in Paris. Make a reservation for early in the night, as they choose to prioritize their costumers and lend them the table for as long as they need. Every dish is immaculate and unique with the best produce. If you want to sit and chat and drink wine all evening this is the best place to do so.

Great choice of quality dishes paired with a selection of wines. Fantastic beef tartare and terrine, but every dish was delicous and was worth trying. Very good service.

Google
Great natural wine selections. The food was great. trained in Italy, Japanese chef brings a taste of authentic Italian flare to French cuisine. He makes excellent unexpected sauces on some of his creation. I enjoy the stay with a knowledgeable server.

Google
A good selection of natural wines, and very interesting food menu. They don’t have a wide variety of food menu, but each dishes were full of different flavors interestingly combined. The space is very small and has only a few tables, so would recommend making a reservation in advance.

Yelp
Excellent wine bar that feels quite charming and cozy. There was only 1 employee around but he was very helpful (in English) selecting some food. The duck rillette was excellent and a good deal for the price given the sheer quantity and quality. We asked him to pair it with a white and a red wine which he did superbly. It's the perfect place to catch up with someone or go on a date.

Yelp
This place is what bar à vins in Paris are all about! Tiny restaurant with a bar in the back, the walls are lined with wine. Buy a bottle for your table or to take home. The one employee can recommend wines based on what you are eating or wines you just enjoy on general. All the wines are natural also so that was a plus for me. We had a red wine - Gamay with the salami...outstanding! All in all, a place I hope to visit again and work my way thru the cheese list

Yelp
Another super cute, tiny neighbourhood wine bar. This is the smallest one of all seating about 6 tables worth plus a very tight four at the bar. Guaranteed 90% tourist free except for you. Like many wine bars in Paris the deal is- pick a bottle from the shelf, pay a small corkage, order share plates. Drink eat repeat. The share plates were super generous and mainly revolving around meats and cheeses. I wouldn't recommend trying to get through the rillettes on your own... The owner is part of the appeal in coming here and he is very knowledgeable and can talk about wines for hours.

Yelp
This is a tiny bar à vins that packs a big punch in terms of atmosphere. The walls are lined with bottles of wine and there is a small counter at the back of the very small room with a beautiful red hand powered mechanical meat slicer. The food is mostly premade, meaning there is no cooking done on the premises. You get a choice of charcuterie and cheese plus a smattering of preserved fish like tuna, sardines and mackerel. The burrata in particular is divine. Luscious pieces of creamy cheese and comes in a pool of olive oil and chinks of green and red tomato. My one critique of the food is that the portions are way too big. I would have preferred the portions to be about half the size that they were. There were two of us and we ordered three dishes and could not finish it all. A small plates concept rather than such large portions would fare better with the wines that they are serving. Or come with at least four people! Overall, a great experience.

Yelp
A part of me almost wants to keep this one to myself, as this is a hidden gem within Paris. The place is essentially a wine shop, the walls bulging with a very fine selection of wines, from the modestly priced to the wallet sapping. But what really brings it alive is the fact that inside are four tables where you can sample the wines along with a modest but superb selection of accompaniments. Duck rilletes are rich and savoury, the charcuterie is sliced to order by the owner with a hand-cranked contraption mere feet from the table. A selection of cheese and a vibrant, saffron-infused houmous were similarly excellent. The service is provided by the owner, himself the character in the sort of heart-warming story that reinforces the joys of good food - as he left his architects trade after visiting, then deciding he must buy the place to run as his own. The selection of wine was great, plus we got advice and a selection chosen to reflect our tastes. The whole place represents the quintessential joy of eating in France. If you want a truly memorable meal, I can think of nowhere in Paris to recommend more highly.

Yelp
Here's a small, old, intimate Paris wine bar that specializes in natural wine. It oozes charm with cool music thrown in. The wine selection is impeccable and the service straightforward. There's a limited cold menu of cheeses, oysters, sliced meats and the like. The focus is the wine and a place in the most frantic area of Paris that is calm and quiet.

Yelp
This place is such a great find! It's a little charming shop that is very intimate. It has the classic Parisian feel that I'm sure everyone is looking for.

Yelp
Proof positive that simpler is better. Extraordinary Left Bank location with amazing food and wine selection.

Yelp
Terrible! I don't understand the stereotypical rudeness to American customers- we haven't faced that once since arriving in Paris. Thought we would try this place out since we were in the area after visiting Luxembourg gardens and wanted a quick glass of wine. We walked in, sat down, ordered 2 glasses of wine and the owner came over to ask what we wanted to eat. We said we weren't hungry and just wanted wine and he (in French when we obviously didn't understand) told us that we couldn't just drink, that we had to order food (we should have gotten up then and there!) and literally forced us to order a sausage plate... we were there for maybe 20 minutes and it was so uncomfortable. Plus we didn't touch the food because we had just eaten a couple of hours prior so it all went to waste. I understand if there is a wait for tables or it's crowded but it was 6pm and there were open tables PLUS I offered to sit at the bar. The other people in there were obviously French and none of them were eating... so basically, don't come here if you're American because the owner is an a**hole and doesn't appreciate paying customers :)

Yelp
Service was unfriendly and making a reservation was nearly impossible. Aside from that, the food was very impressive. Bouffe: 8/10 Boisson: 8/10 Ambiance: 4/10 (à cause du service)

Yelp
I wanted to stop in at La Cremerie the last time I was in Paris but the wine bar was not open. The place is teeny tiny and filled with locals. There are only six table and seating at the bar for four. Many people come for a dish or two to enjoy their amazing selection of wines.I sampled several wines including: Chateau Landra 2011 Ventoux Les Boutieres; Copines 2014 Jean-Lous Tribouley; and Cornas 2013 Brise Cailloux Matthew Barret. I enjoyed all of the recommended wines learned a lot about them from the very knowledgable owner/manager. The food selection is limited, but everything looked great. I had the Saumon fume des arcades (smoked salmon from Orkney islands in Scotland). The salmon was organic, free range, thickly sliced (more like sushi cut) and delicious. If you're looking for a truly authentic local wine bar, this is the spot!

Yelp
Unbelievable dinning experience. Was in Paris on our honeymoon and found this online somewhere. Showed up early and was able to get a reservation for that night. Make sure you make reservation, we were just lucky. It's small and they don't turn around tables like they do here in US to get more business. The owner talked to us for some time and was really helpful with the wine selection. The food was amazing. Great wine, great food, great hospitality, great ambiance and great memories. It wasn't cheap though.

Yelp
Great find -- casual wine bar, with a great selection and good cheese / charcuterie as well. We're from New York City and wanted a small, related place that was not catering to tourists and had a good selection of local wines with a knowledgeable owner, and this hit the spot! Went twice in 5 days!

Yelp
My husband really wanted to go to a wine bar while in Paris so we ended up here, per the guidebook recommendation. La Cremerie specializes in natural and organic wines. They have 2-4 bottles open by glass but you can always buy anything you want in the store and enjoy it right there, if you please (I believe there is a corkage fee). The menu is limited but serves as a nice complement to a glass of vin (we had duck rillette and sardines with French bread). Erick, the bartender/server was pleasant and discussed the qualities of different wines with us and recommended reds based on our specifications. All in all, it turned out to be an interesting detour into the mind of a French oenophile. We did not have a reservation and were seated without issues - but the place is small, so I would get there early. Recommended!

Yelp
We were lucky enough to be staying close by La Cremerie and we stumbled across it after finishing dinner one night. We decided to come back the following night and were very happy we did!! We enjoyed a delicious bottle of French red wine along with Burrata, Jambon Cru & Paté de Campagne. This tiny wine bar was full of locals, the atmosphere was great and the food was exceptional! A must in Paris!!

Yelp
Such a pleasure on every level. From the moment we opened the door to the wonderful, low-volume music, to the pleasant and friendly service, to the spot-on wine recommendations and introductions, and finally to the delicious, attractive food. Had to go twice in 1 week.

Yelp
If you're a burrata lover like I am, you have to make a stop at La Cremerie. I ordered a huge plate of creamy, gooey, delicious burrata with a delicious heirloom tomato salad as a main course. It's hands down the best burrata that I've ever had but it's also a little too much cheese for one person at one time. Next time, I would probably share it with a group as an appetizer and get another dish a main course. The restaurant is very small, with only a few tables and only starts getting busy around 9pm.

Yelp
Really lovely, small wine bar with delightful cheese and small bites. Great, quiet location with knowledgeable and passionate staff. Would be more stars but they clearly made no bones about jamming us up with the short "American" pour in all six glasses of vino we ordered.

Yelp
This is a great wine bar and small plate dining establishment. Organic and bio-dynamic wines are the feature and there is no more comfortable place in Paris to explore regional wines. Hands down, the best wine bar in Paris!!!

Yelp
A glass of wine and some excellent pâté. Very friendly, knowledgable and an excellent start to any evening.

Yelp
Forget it. a) way too expensive b) horrible attitude. The owner and his wife seem miserable, like they don't want to be there, and should leave their problems at home. Pierre Jancou, come back!
