My favorite type of crepes are bretonne style crepes, which are made with buckwheat and by nature, are also gluten-free (despite the word "wheat" in buckwheat). They have a pretty large selection of savory and sweet crepes, along with beer, wine, and cider. The crepes are pretty filling, and pretty reasonably priced for the generous amount of filling, and the quality of the crepes.
We came around 2:30/2:45 pm, so we didn't have to wait in line, but I can imagine that if you come during peak time, you may have to wait for a table. The menu is in English, French and Japanese, so you shouldn't have too much of a problem deciphering what to order, other than to narrow down your decision because there are so many options. If you're claustrophobic and don't like eating directly next to someone, you may want to go elsewhere, because most the tables are literally pushed together for one long table.
We got 2 different savory crepes - the crepes were thin, light and crispy. They definitely know what they are doing! The fillings were plentiful and fresh.
- Josselin (Oeuf, Jambon, Fromage, Champignon / Egg, Ham, Cheese, Mushroom) - I loved this one, very traditional with the egg, ham and cheese. It was filling, decadent, and each bite was perfect. I would definitely recommend this and I would order again next time I go.
- Galinette (Poulet, Fromage, Champignon, Creme / Chicken, Cheese, Mushroom, Cream) - This one was slightly more dry to me - the chicken was good, but I preferred the one with egg, ham, cheese and mushrooms better. It was good, but I think I'll get something else next time and keep trying their other flavors.
The turnover here is fairly quick and the food comes out quickly. We were done in about 45 min to an hour, it was really fast. Cash only - there are signs all around the restaurant that they don't take credit cards. I'm sure the dessert crepes are equally as delicious - we had eaten too many croissants and desserts for breakfast & lunch prior to coming here so we didn't have room for a sweet crepe.
Overall, best crepes I've had so far (I've lived in the south of France for a few months now and eaten a fair share of crepes) and worth going here. It's close to the train station so start and/or end your trip here if you're taking the train in and out of Paris.
