La Dolce Vita Bed & Breakfast

Vincenzo is a fabulous host, starting with a tip to visit Metaponto on the way to Matera, and a pick up from a pre arranged location so that we didn't have to bring our rental car into the old city. He then took the time to explain the layout of Matera and how to get the best out of our visit. All our questions over the next three days were welcomed and answered in detail: from what flour makes Matera bread so special to where best to purchase cruschi.||The B&B location is great in Sasso Caveoso and not more than a few minutes walk to every important location in the city. We stayed in one of Dolce Vita's cave rooms, which was a lot of fun and nice to escape into after a day of walking in the sun! Very comfortable and convenient. Breakfast is nicely done around a single table so that you can chat with other guests around the table and enrich your experience. Don't miss Pane e Pomodoro restaurant a few minutes away for dining...very casual, but excellent food at reasonable prices. ||Thanks for everything, Vincenzo!

Wonderful B&B in the heart of Matera, La Dolce Vita is a great place to spend your time and immerse yourself in the history and culture of this ancient city. Vincenzo is a generous and knowledgeable host, sharing his long history in the town with guests. His understanding of Matera’s complexity and community is deep and super appreciated by these travelers. He has also created a warm, comfortable and creative space to call home while you are here. The best!

We arrived with Vincenzo meeting us just outside the city center. We followed him to a very safe parking spot where he transported our luggage into his vehicle and drove us to the B&B accommodations. This level far exceeded any level of hospitality that we expected. This allowed us to avoid the ZTL Zones throughout the city. After showing us to our room, he gave us and other guests a tutorial providing us with points of interest and maps on our cell phone. He described key points of the city and the history and how to travel through the city without feeling lost. The rooms are built into caves and are truly spectacular. A bountiful breakfast was offered in the morning and was delightful. After checkout, Vincenzo brought us back to our car and gave us concise directions to our next destination. Vincenzo's level of knowledge and expertise for the city of Matera and his passion for history and culture are contagious. His passion for the environment is remarkable, the B&B consumes 70% less energy than other B&Bs in Matera without compromising quality. A great deal of love and thought has gone into the design of this B&B. We highly recommend staying with Vincenzo and his family when visiting Matera, we developed a true love of the Old City and we can not wait to return and stay again with Vincenzo and his family.

This was truly a wonderful experience. We felt right at home and Vincenzo was an incredible host who truly helped make our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. We stayed in a spacious 2 story room with a big kitchen. It was very clean and decorated nicely. Breakfast was set up promptly in a beautiful room every morning and included a nice spread. We will definitely be back to stay at La Dolce Vita!

We stayed in La Dolce Vita for 1 night in June with my girlfriend. Perfect location in the heart of the old city of Matera. Vincenzo is a great and warm host, passionate about his city and willing to share his knowledge. Upon arrival, he took the time to explain to us the history of the city and advised us on how to best experience and navigate it. Breakfast was fabulous included homemade pies. Despite the heat outside, the bedroom was very cool and decorated with a lot of taste. Communication with Vincenzo was smooth and he picked us up and drop us back at the city gates so we could park outside of the center and avoid parking fines. 100% recommended!

Vincenzo is a great host and the cave rooms are amazing. Our room was large, beautiful & modern yet had an ancient feel to it. The breakfasts are good and the conversation with Vincenzo even better. Ideal location to explore this unique village and great restaurants just meters away. The pick up at the red house worked perfectly and the only way to get there! We loved this B&B because we felt at home!

We spent 3 nights here, while in magical Matera. Located in the Sasso Caveoso, and around the corner from the Santa Maria de Idris, you are right in the heart of Matera with all sightseeing points of interest and restaurants easily reachable on foot. ||We had the Casa Camino - such a spacious and atmospeheric cave room with its unique design elements and tasteful restoration. Vincenzo is a very hands on host, very proud of and knowledgeable about his city and the region. He guided us to a safe parking outside the city (the historic centre is all a ZTL), and picked/dropped us to and from when we arrived/left. He walked us through a map of Matera in extensive detail, sharing a lot of useful input on our overall itinerary as well. ||We had breakfast at a communal table, and enjoyed interacting with other guests. Matera is spectacular beyond words, and our stay at La Dolce Vita made our stay even more memorable.

If you are looking for an authentic Matera experience, look no farther. La Dolce Vita is the perfect place for your stay in this magical place!||Located in the heart of the Sasso Caveoso, the iconic Madonna of Idris is just steps away. This location is close to excellent restaurants in addition to countless spectacular views. Bring your walking shoes (non-slip soles are a good idea)!||Vincenzo is an outstanding host. He will help you park outside of the limited traffic area and drive you to the B&B.||We really enjoyed the excellent breakfast, sitting around a community table with other fellow guests. We would definitely stay at La Dulce Vida on return trip to Matera.
