Gael Greene, Original ‘New York’ Restaurant Critic, Has Died
"A now-closed French restaurant recalled for a notable lunch the critic shared with a colleague early in that person's career, illustrating the critic's generosity in socializing and mentoring fellow journalists." - Adam Platt
Went with short notice to the restaurant as part of a group of 16. The service was, on the whole good, and the one main course missed was identified quickly by staff and rectified withon a reasonable time (although disappointing).
Good selection including a 'taster dish' with tastes of many dishes. Menu contains local specialities and also horse and snails. House red wine and beers very good, great evening, thanks to all.

Great interior, very much friendly and helpful stuff. If you can, stay away from Welsh complete, the ham and cheese are too salty, the bread is surprisingly dry and stiff. I am not aware how it should taste, maybe the dish itself was just as it should be? However, fries was tasteless and oil was just dripping out of it.

Incredibly good food and excellent service. We had a jambette de porc à la bière, frits salade and a le Welsh complete, with a red wine. For dessert, we had a chocolate mousse. Our server recommended us places to visit, as we were staying in the city for a few days. We are very happy with the meal and with the service. We will come again.

Very very good place where to eat in Lille. One of my favorite at all (here from 3 months). The food is delicious, very high quality food. The serive was excellent, the waiter very nice and kind. I absolutely recommend it!

16 of us went with just a phone call a few minutes before. The staff were welcoming and food generally good, all enjoyed the experience, house red was really drinkable! Because of the size of the party some food was not as warm as it could have been, particularly the soup, but no real issues. Would go back without hesitation.

My boyfriend (dutch) enjoyed very much the welsh - and survived it.
And then, he wanted more cheese... We took l'assiette de fromage (10,50€)
But he would have wished more cheese was present (3 cheeses) on his Assiette de fromage (10,50€). He enjoyed the cheeses ("ja, lekker" )

An institution in Lille.
Wonderful service, food, and decor. Authentic food, a daily plat du jour that changes regularly.
