"Speedy Tapas on the Cheap at La Esquinica A lot of the best places to eat on the cheap in Barcelona are a little out of the way. For a truly local experience, and the fastest tapas in town at ridiculously cheap prices, try on La Esquinica (the little corner) for size. Do as the Barcelonans do and drink vino turbio (house wine shaken until it's frothy) and sample a little bit of everything. Croquettes, bombas, patatas bravas (potatoes with garlic mayonnaise and hot sauce), stuffed mussels, and grilled Spanish meats, all prepared in house and served up in a matter of minutes. Note: Like so much Spanish bar food, this is not light cuisine, or particularly vegan or vegetarian friendly. Also, if you go during typical Spanish meal times on a weekend (2-3pm, 8.30-10pm) expect to wait in line to be seated. The nearest metro stops are Vilapicina and Virrei Amat, L5."

Authentic. Totally locals. Menu only in Spanish. This is a real tapas bar. My croquetas de bacalao were only warm. I expect croquetas to be scorching hot when served. I didn't feel like my ensalada de verano was exceptionally fresh, but I still ate every morsel. The montalditos, lomo and jamon, were outstanding as was my wine and coffee. With all that in mind, I would definitely recommend La Esquinica.

The best authentic and local tapas in Barcelona, a must try! The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable! Make sure to ask for Jose Maria, a very sweet and attentive man. Despite the language barrier, he made sure we were looked after. It's a shame I couldn't tip him as he refused. :( ¡Muchas gracias, Jose Maria!

I was recommended this place by locals. It's pretty awesome. Great Tapas. And real tapas. Unfortunately my Spanish is terrible but they have an amazing waitress who speaks great English. Highly recommended. The Calamari was fresh, the mushroom croquettes were smooth and crunchy. I'd ask for the patatas Bravas with sauce on the side as it was heavy on garlic and salt.

A very local & lovely restaurant. I would visit here again, as I am tired of tourist spots. It might be a bit difficult to order if you do not know Spanish cuisines and languages, but that makes me feel THE REAL Barcelona. I visited several tapas restaurant in the town, but never seen any better and more authentic one than this. Highly recommended. I personally do not want tourists to come here as I want them to keep this local atmosphere.

Google
Amazing place for good quality tapas. All the good old favourites are in the menu. The menu is pretty extensive with 3 pages of tapas ranging from patatas bravas to cepia and from snails to al croquettes of 4 varieties. If you like a table faster then go inside for sure. I suspect that the service is faster there too. When you arrive you see a line of people. Don’t just go in line but get a number first. The people in line have a number already and this is the place to wait with it. The service is fast so have you google translate ready to order in Spanish. Not Sure if they have an adapted menu so be aware. Super food, super wine super atmosphere and great prices. A 4 person table has space for about 4/5 dishes so it’s something to consider when ordering and making choices. I absolutely would go back but probably go around 16.00 so after Spanish lunchtime (15.00) when the waiting time was totally gone and many tables were available on the terras.

The grilled foods were really good, excellent. Recommend the grilled tiny octopus, razor clams, and bombas. I'd go back to eat them again! Also recommend the longazinas and the olives. Patatas bravas, I don't know how it's supposed to taste like, but I liked it. Effectively fried potatoes with a really good garlic aioli. Crema Catalana was good too! And other tapas were decent. Chipirones weren't too nice, felt like they were reheated. I'd give it a miss.

Google
I 100% recommend it. The food is mixt, you can order from basics to sea food, drinks, everything you want to try new. The food comes on small plates, are the perfect portions. The waiters are very nice and fast. The restaurant is very crowded. We had to wait in the queue for 20 min after we took a ticket with a number. We were served immediately and the food came fast too, in 3 parts, but the table was always full with food. When we prepared to leave, people were already called to sit down. The waiters always cleaned it too.

Google
went here as near to where we were staying, got a number and waited in line. service is very fast and good atmosphere. cod croquettes came and were cold, prawns, calamari and crema catalana was good. decent and cheap restaurant but wouldn’t go again, not worth the queue

Yelp
The wait was ridiculous - almost 2 hours. But between my cousin's friends and us, we tag teamed it so one person didn't have to stand for so long. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! That 2 hour wait was nothing after I tried everything they had to offer here. It is a locals' spot (hence the constant crowd), so I am very lucky to have family out there that takes me to these places. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have found it as a lone tourist. Since I didn't recognize any of the tapas, I let everyone else order. The only thing I recognized were the patatas bravas, and even those were different than the ones I'm used to. I finally even tried those tiny crispy fish. I always get grossed out when my dad eats them, but I think all the sangria I had made me a little more adventurous and I ended up loving them! What a treat it was to try this place. All the tapas were delicious and the service was quick. Quite the Catalonian experience! I wish we had a place like this nearby!

Yelp
Great tapas restaurant in Barcelona. I came here after seeing recommendations online and the reviews looked good. It's a little out of the way but we enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We were seated right away. My husband ordered a coke and we ordered some tapas for the table. We ordered some PATATICAS BRAVICAS, CROQUETAS and JAMONCICO IBÉRICO. Everything was delicious and the food came out pretty quickly. The food looked fresh and the prices are very affordable. The restaurant isn't far from a train station and it's actually a quick walk. After walking around the touristy areas in Barcelona being able to go to another part of the city was a great idea. There were tourists there too but not as many. As far as the language, the waiter was able to understand us and I speak a little bit of Spanish too that was enough to order the food. I used the bathroom and it was clean. We were seated inside but they also had outdoor seating.

Yelp
possibly the best tapas bar in Barcelona. there's long line during peak days and hours and the portions are sizeable despite being "tapas". the staff is friendly and the sangria is good! I recommend getting six dishes for two people since it's a lot of food. the prices are good and the ambiance is classic.

Yelp
This is a great spot for tapas. Locals come here and you don't see tourist. Which is a plus. Tapas are not so expensive here since its where the locals go. And you don't get the tourist price. We would have gotten half of what we ordered and paid the same price. Thanks for my cousin go brought us here. It is a wonderful place and it's always busy. I'd come back. Baby squid was a little to salty. Big squid was not bad. Sausage bread was actually good but they charge you by the sausage. Whack! Potatas bravo always good how can you go wrong with fried potato, mayo and some kind of spicy seasoning. Stuffed mussels are yum. Octupos was Delish very different from how I normally eat.. Sushi Pepper like food was yummie not spicy. Spanish cheese oh so good and mix with the potatas brava. Mmmm Great tapas and fast service. Super fast I guess they want you in and out cause they do have a long line especially at dinner time.

Yelp
The benefits of my travels in Spain guided by a local is niche places like these. I enjoyed the assortment of Tapas offered here. I am elated I had the opportunity to try one of the best Tapas to this region of Spain.

Yelp
one of my favourite spots in Barcelona. Definitely one of my go-to-joints when visitors are in town. Tapas - family style! Great food, great prices, but it's easy to go over board when ordering tapas, especially when they're good...be careful! The only downside is, it's always packed. They don't take reservations, so you basically have to wait in line until your number is called. To me, long lines are a good sign for good food. just saying. I highly suggest the pimientos de padron (look like deep fried jalepenos, but they aren't spicy), chipirones (deep fried baby squid), pulpo gallego (Galician style octopus), & los tigres (stuffed mussels - my personal fav). The restaurant is definitely off the beaten path of tourists, but well worth it. The waiters get very busy, but they've always been friendly.

Yelp
Totalment sobrevalorat.

Yelp
Be sure to make a reservation in advance (we did thank god) because the queue is long and there is one every night of the week. This restaurant has a monopoly on the neighborhood and does not seem touristy as most patrons are locals. Be prepared to order quick as the waiters are very fast paced. Food comes quick too. We ordered at least 7-8 tapas and a bottle of the house red and our order was under €50. Such a great deal for such great food. The patatas bravas were incredible - best we've had in Barcelona. The blood sausage with onions was also an all around favorite. Over all great tapas restaurant and possibly the best one we've been to during out stay...actually it was hands down the best!

Yelp
This is my favorite tapas bar in Barcelona. They have a big selection of traditional Spanish tapas, nice wait staff, and a normal price. It is always packed though, and there is not enough room in the dining area. Still, our go to tapas place.

Yelp
Great place, no wait at all... I actually dragged some locals there who never had a chance to go to that place. All tapas were excellent, my favorite was the papas bravas, and the octopus (pulpo al gallego)..

Yelp
Very good tapas, informal ambient, OK price
