The team at La Estrella de Tarifa was incredibly responsive and understanding. I was so impressed by their kindness and exceptional customer service. It's rare to find such accommodating and helpful staff.

We loved our stay at La Estrella de Tarifa! The penthouse room was wonderful for our family of four. We only stayed one night, but I could easily imagine us staying there for an entire week. The room was a good size. The kitchen was stocked with dishes and other things you might need. The bathroom was nice. There's no air-conditioning, but I can't imagine a scenario when you would need it in Tarifa. There are multiple windows, on every side of the room, that you can open and let the fresh sea air blow through. We didn't have any issues with noise from the streets, even with the windows open. In the early evening (~7pm to ~10pm), you may be serenaded by the faint sound of acoustic guitarists playing a block or so away. With that in mind, virtually anything you would want to see in Tarifa is within an easy walk. There was nowhere we walked to that took over 15 minutes, and we covered every major tourist site you can think of. We parked by the port and walked to the hotel, and it may have taken 8-10 minutes, tops. I've seen people complain about the stairs, either because of the amount or how narrow they are, but we didn't have any issues coming or going with our bags. And although reception is only open a few hours each day, we had no problems getting into the hotel and the room, as they communicate quickly and thoroughly through WhatsApp. It truly was a flawless visit!

Room on first floor extremely small, cramped; have to sit sideways on toilet so as not to hit wall. Small frig nice. Even for one person, I felt cramped with window that looked out at sidewalk/road. Little privacy. Price is in the proper range considering what's on offer - but suggest looking at larger rooms even with higher cost.

We arrived to our destination and went up to the room. We noticed very quickly that the whole Hostel was very outdated. I stayed in this place many years ago and liked it, so I wanted to go back. The worst decision ever. The whole floor was full of black long hair in the whole room, the bathroom and inside the bathtub. I send immediately a message to the person that send us the instruction for check in and told them what happened. No answer. We went outside to have lunch and after a while I called and told them what happened and he said that the cleaning lady wasn't there anymore, but he could clean it. I said yes of course, but we are not in, so he can go ahead and clean it. I wouldn't go all the way back and wait for an hour for him to clean the place. I assume that have an extra key for those circumstances. He told me we had to be there, so we agreed that the next day he would return me some money for the inconveniences caused. After a week I called to ask about the return and they are telling me that I should have cancelled the booking to get a return. I am in shock how people can have a working Hotel, treating their clients like that. PLEASE DONT GO THERE, THE PLACE IS OLD, DIRTY AND THEY TREAT THEIR CLIENTS VERY BADLY. There are so many nice places in Tarifa to choose from.

I booked this hotel direct from its website attracted by the great reviews, very affordable rates and its proximity to the port. Upon booking I received details of the codes for the main door and key box for my room. This was a relief as my arrival would be outside of reception hours. Also provided was tourist information. Great customer service! The message also included the WiFi password. The hotel was about a three minute walk from the port and not hard to find. It was a Tuesday night and there were quite a few people outside nearby restaurants and bars. There were also a couple of ATMs en route. I found my room (number 9) clean, cosy and decorated with a stylish blue and white theme. It was also well-equipped (see hairdryer, TV, fridge and fan in the pictures - wall heater not pictured). There was a bit of street noise but not excessively so and things quietened down after midnight. The windows were double-glazed and offered views of neighbouring streets and the castle. I would not hesitate to stay again when next in Tarifa.

If you’re looking to feel the real spirit of Tarifa, stay here! It’s central without being too close to the action. The heartbeat of Tarifa is 30 seconds away. It’s your home whilst you’re in town. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else!!

First of all the hotel is not reachable by car, the streets are so narrow! You need to park somewhere else and then walk uphill which was not practical with our suitcases. Floors dirty on the bedroom. The worst is that there is no lift so pray God you dont have a room upstairs like we had. It was the worst. The location is good

We stayed here two nights. We had the first floor room with a double bed. The sink is in the same room with a barn door that slides open for the washroom and the shower. The room itself was a tight fit and being next to the road, you obviously can hear people talking as they walk by.||||However the location was very easy to get to the ferry port (5 minutes), and very close to lots of great restaurants. It's about a 15 minute walk from the bus stop (we took the bus in from Seville or if you want to go take a day bus to Gibraltar).||||Other things like banks, and grocery stores aren't too far off.
