La Fleur de Lys

We stayed overnight here and really enjoyed the experience. The room was very comfortable and well-decorated and the bathroom very clean. There were lovely touches, such as homemade biscuits in the room with the tea-making facilities. We also felt they had an excellent choice of foods to eat for breakfast and everything was well cooked. Overall, a well-managed hotel which felt cosy and comfortable when we came in from the rain.

We spent a wonderful evening at the fluer de lys enjoying my wife's 70th birthday with our daughter and her partner. The meal in the restaurant was absolutely superb as was the service and attention, we all thoroughly enjoyed the food and the wine and were extremely well looked after. We stayed the night in the accommodation and found that also to be first class. Everything was spotless and well maintained. Breakfast was also equally as good. Many thanks to the whole team for making our evening and stay extra special. I would not hesitate to highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a very pleasurable experience. Have only been to the restaurant, we have never stayed there. It's a brilliant French restaurant with quality dining. Everything from the menu choice, to the ingredients is top notch with fabulous traditional good old fashioned service. I would highly recommend.

Attractive small hotel. Spotlessly clean comfortable room and excellent breakfast in the centre of Shaftesbury. Staff exemplary and nothing too much trouble. Also good off street parking for residents. Can’t wait to find an excuse to visit again.

After a disastrous booking at Holbrook B&B I was in desperate need of anything that was fit for human beings, I was so relieved to have found this lovely hotel. |Fantastic hotel with great staff. Delicious food and professional hospitality. CLEAN rooms and fantastic atmosphere.

The food was excellent, well cooked, well presented by helpful friendly team. Lovely dining room leading to a terrace. In summer, with the doors open it would be wonderful, and on a grey November day it was cosy, warm and peaceful. The room was comfortably furnished and the wireless docking charger was an impressive addition, as were the individually wrapped biscuits. Good to have a cafetiere too. As detailed in the description, the approach to the car park is very narrow, and needed careful negotiation with our GLC (parking sensors screaming all the while). But a car park in a town centre hotel is a bonus. It's a fine old house and to me our quiet room at the back had a certain mustiness, but I have an acute sense of smell. My husband detected nothing, and I see no other reviews have mentioned it. It was better with the windows opened during our stay. We enjoyed our stay.

The food is delicious and it is worth treating yourself to. The owners and members of staff are very welcoming. There is a car park but you need to be careful when driving in as the space between the hotel and neighbouring wall is tight. Unfortunately, in our room we could not receive BBC 1 or BBC2.
