Overpriced, poor quality food, and disappointing service
Unfortunately, La Folie Douce Meribel / Courchevel was a major disappointment, especially given its reputation and premium pricing.
First, you are charged €4 just to have your skis guarded. Many other high end restaurants in Courchevel offer this service for free, so this already felt unnecessary and nickel and diming. They also do not serve tap water, which is standard in France, meaning you are forced to buy bottled water at €10.
The food was shockingly bad for the price point. A burger costing €48 looked unappetizing and was genuinely inedible. The Caesar salad was not a Caesar salad at all, mostly mayonnaise based dressing, two small chicken tenders instead of proper chicken, and very poor overall quality. My partner became really sick after eating it. The food arrived within about 5 minutes, which strongly suggests it had been sitting and was not made to order.
Service was equally disappointing. Staff were rude and dismissive, cleared half finished glasses of wine without asking, and responded in a sassy and unprofessional manner when questioned.
For the prices charged, you would expect at least decent food and respectful service. There are far better dining options in Courchevel that actually deliver on quality and hospitality. I would not return and would not recommend it.
