We had the Chinese BBQ duck quesadilla (an appetizer, $8) and the Mesquite steak taco plate (entree. $12). The latter was very good and good quantity. The former barely had duck - about 4 small slices. See the photos. An added bonus is that they had their monthly art exhibit- interesting art and some very good hors d'oeuvres.. Cost was $20 plus tip.

I ordered the chipotle tomato bisque which was really good. Side of homemade bread that was amazing. My fiancé ordered the Dagwood sandwich but they accidentally brought us the daily special sandwich. We didn’t say anything because he was still really pleased with the sandwich. You can tell the food is fresh and made to order.

Been here multiple times. Great gluten free options even for celiacs (like myself). Never gotten sick. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

A hidden gem! The restaurant make-over since I was last here has greatly improved the ambience. Great music, friendly staff, full bar and wonderfully delicious eclectic food choices. My first chicken-wild mushroom crepe! Plus, one can explore the National Hispanic Cultural Center after dining!

Huge portions but the food is made fresh daily and it was delicious! Nice spot to grab breakfast near the Plaza in Santa Fe.

Google
Delicious, fresh and beautiful presentation. The prices are not bad at all and great service. Will definitely be back :) thank you!

Google
Not very busy, a lot of empty tables. The server argued with me when I said I received the wrong cocktail. They were out of ribeye and replaced it with filet, which is fine with a price adjustment on the menu but I don't think they adjusted the price on my bill.

The best food I’ve had in ABQ. Will definitely be returning

Yelp
Went with friend prior to opera. It was a Friday and no happy hour going on. However, a sangria was sold for $6 and delicious according to friend and Yelp Elite Shelly A. We shared a duck quesadilla which was served with a fresh tomato and mango salsa. Very nice. 4 small wedges was a perfect starter. I had the steak with brandy sauce and veggies over mash potatoes. Was cooked perfectly, tender, and filling! No room for dessert! It's a nice setting with music softly playing; I did t have to yell across the table to be heard. Was quiet enough! Friendly wait staff who kept my water glass filled. Grateful! Highly recommend for a delicious bite to eat and especially before a performance or event at the National Hispanic Cultural Center!

Yelp
Everything was so delicious and the service was super good!! It's easy to forget this place exists since it's inside the National Hispanic Cultural Center, but even if you aren't visiting the museum, it's a super cute spot for a meal. The wings were phenomenal honestly. Very saucy and crispy but under the skin it's still juicy and tender. The desserts were also delicious! Churros were crispy and the sauce was slightly bitter and not too sweet. The strawberries were fresh and paired very nicely. Will def be back!

Yelp
The absolute definition of a hidden gem, I hadn't been to La Fonda in years because it is kind of out-of-the-way. The space is beautiful, nestled in the parking lot of the national Hispanic cultural Center. You walk in and everything is just so pretty, from the light fixtures to the seating, it screams New Mexico. I would consider it more of a fine dining spot, but the menu prices are overall not too horrible. They've got a good lunch menu, including sandwiches and such. We started with the chicken wings that were super good. Crispy and juicy with a good kick to them. We ended our meal with dessert because that's what I really came for. They have style churros that are really great as well as a Tres leches flan. Both were fantastic and absolutely something. I will have to remember next time I'm craving a sweet treat. I will say for a weekday lunch. It was not very busy. We were seated promptly and everything was satisfactory.

Yelp
Yum! Came here on a Friday night and the restaurant was not busy, so we were seated right away. The decor his really beautiful and cozy with real flowers on each table. Service was fast and our glasses were always full. We started with the duck quesadilla as an appetizer. I've never had duck, but it was really good and I would recommend it. It came with a mango salsa which offered a really nice sweet contrast. I also got a margarita to start. It was strong, but not overpowering. I love margaritas so I was happy For dinner, I had the Chile rellenos which had both mushrooms and goat cheese in them, served over corn and black beans. I loved my meal and would 100% order it again. My husband got the green chile chicken pasta which was a good portion size and really yummy. He ate the whole thing. We finished our meal with the brownie a la mode. It would have been even better if the brownie was warmed up. You'll like this if you enjoy the combo of cinnamon and chocolate. Overall a great experience. We will be back.

Yelp
This is the kind of restaurant my grandparents would enjoy - calm, not busy, not loud, good food, charming ambiance, easy parking. Really has a country club feel. We came for lunch. Food was really good. Kitchen was a bit slow, I don't think they expect many guests during the workweek so they have only a skeleton crew of staff. Nice place for a leisurely meal. Our waitress was great.

Lynn E.

Yelp
Lunch here was fabulous, the food and service and ambience excellent. Interesting choices for vegetarians, plates are artistically presented and delicious.

Yelp
If you're looking for the finest attention, the greatest eye for detail, the best ambiance, beautiful decor, and amazing - let me say it again - amazing food in Albuquerque, New Mexico - La Fonda del Bosque has all you need and much, much more. To be truly honest, I didn't know anything about La Fonda del Bosque. I'm currently in the city working on a film project and was looking for Hispanic actors at the National Hispanic Cultural Center right next door. Since I was hungry and it was way pass lunch time, James, one of the directors of the Center recommended the best place in Albuquerque, in his opinion, and that was La Fonda Del Bosque. The fact that it was also located next door didn't hurt at all. I walked in without any expectations. I was hungry, far from home, working, and just needed something quick to keep on my way. All that changed the moment I stepped through their doors. The art on the walls invites you to study it, the old Adobe beams on the hallway, to take a pictures, and the ambiance inside to sit down, relax, and forget about all your problems. So I did. I sat down and for the next hour and a half, although alone, I proceeded to take my sweet time, savor every bite, and enjoy some of the finest cuisine Albuquerque has to offer. I talked to JJ, the manager, who told me about the fact that they've been at that location for a while, although under different ownership. It is obvious that they've been providing Albuquerque with great food for a while since, as Aristotle once said, "Excellence is not a act, but a habit." Additionally, and this is for my fellow Yelpies, when I checked in on the app., to my surprise, there's $14.99 coupon on a 3 course business meal. You can't beat that! Needless to say, I left extremely satisfied. Their service stands above the rest, their staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely helpful. Not only will I be back again to La Fonda Del Bosque, but I'll make sure to stop by every time I'm in Albuquerque. You should do the same. Trust me - you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Oddly, I found myself at La Fonda Del Bosque two days in a row, and I'm glad I did! On the first day, I was there with a club I belong to. We were seated on the patio and it was a beautiful Albuquerque day! On my end of the table, at least, we all loved our food! I ordered the Wild Mushroom Chile Rellenos and they were yum! You can read the details in the menu that I included in my photos. Not your typical chile relleno, but I love the uniqueness of it. I really like mushrooms, but if you don't, I'd recommend you try something else. The salad was good and I always enjoy side dishes of corn. In this case the corn also had red pepper, which made it appealing to the eye. In fact, the over all presentation was very appealing. The two rellenos were stacked against each other. It was a little hard to cut into it at first, and one rolled onto the table. I invoked the "Five Second Rule" and ate on. I wasn't going to let it go to waste. The only thing I would change a bit was the vinaigrette dressing. For my taste, it was a little spicier and thicker than I prefer. Was it heavy on dijon and light on oil/vinegar? I actually don't know, but the Asian dressing across the table looked like it would have been more to my liking. Also, my friend, who is very particular about her Ranch dressing thought that her's was excellent. All in all, a really lovely and delicious lunch. So, the next day was the Grand Opening of this restaurant. On a fluke, I was invited. I'm not sure exactly how long they have been in business, but I noticed while looking over previous reviews that many wouldn't be applicable to the current business. Also, in full disclosure, this evening's event was open to the public (me) and the generous samplings of food at the buffet were free. I got to try many of the things on the menu and I have a new place I'm eager to introduce to my friends. I tried the Duck Quesadilla and I wasn't expecting to like it. After all, it had duck in it, for heaven's sake. In all honestly, I doubt I'd order it again, but it wasn't because of the taste. It was because of the duck. If you like duck, I think you'll like it. It had a slight sweet taste to it. Probably from the bbq sauce? And, to my surprise, I did eat the whole thing. I served some rice from a dish, that also had chicken. Actually, the chicken was gone, but my friend told me how tasty her rice was so I served some when I went for seconds. She was right! I don't normally have much to say about rice, but it truly was delicate and delicious. I thought it might have had a bit of saffron in it, but I don't see that in the description on the menu...and saffron isn't the kind of thing you'd forget to mention. So I'm guessing this dish was the Belizan Chicken...if so, it was coconut rice. I'll find out next time I go. There are many things on the inspired menu I look forward to trying. But I will tell you that what I enjoyed the most tonight was my margarita! It quite possibly was the best I've ever had. For my taste, it was perfect! I don't like them too sweet. Nor do I like them too sour. As my friend said, it was a "Goldilocks" margarita...it was just right! Almost forgot to mention the homemade potato chips. Really liked those too! This restaurant is part of the National Hispanic Cultural Center and though I've been there many times, I've never noticed the restaurant before. As you walk in from the parking lot, it is on the left. The venue was lovely. Nice art on the walls. A peaceful patio. And every employee we came across was personable and efficient.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant again today. Wasn't served. They had a large group and the 2-3 servers couldn't handle the group and other tables. We were told there was a 20 min wait but we saw a mismanaged service, we knew it would be longer. Took over 10 min just to get a menu to mull over. The main server took our drink order, did some stuff at the front desk, then went on to do something else before dedicating all his time to the large party. One, a new hire, was on water refill duty. I imagine it wouldn't have been a stretch to ask that person to take the orders of the small parties while the more experienced server tended to the large party. In the past, the restaurant has announced closure due to private parties. I think they also need to do this when they have a large party since they don't have the help or management to handle a full house. If you walk in this place, see a large group...be ready to wait, wait, wait.

Yelp
I went today with a friend. I will be back soon! I ordered red chile tofu-- red chile was smoky and, for my taste, perfect! Hot, but not crazily so. My dinner will be the other half Large serving. My friend ordered half soup and salad. Very generous half salad. Also, took home half for her dinner. Freshly made bread (fennel?) with soup which she generously shared as they gave her two large slices. Excellent waiter. Very helpful and caring. The owner/manager stopped by and was friendly and interesting. A very good experience!

Yelp
This restaurant at National Hispanic Cultural Center has had several incarnations under the same name. All have been great, and very different. It is now better than ever. In this time of pandemic fears we choose this dining room for it's high ceilings, well spaced tables and good ventilation. We wish they could be open more days, but staffing issues that affect many restaurants seem to be happening here too. Faithful customers, employees and a great owner make it friendly and welcoming. The price is very affordable for the spectacular quality and freshness of dishes. Seniors who love our to-go-boxes leave very satisfied. The Coyacán style churros are the stuff dreams are made of! Also a full bar with great bartenders. Nice they have Friday dinner as well, so let's support them so it continues! Sadly and mysteriously State government has the Cultural Center currently closed; the Museum just opened a wonderful new exhibition. Take in a Bosque walk after lunch. Trail begins at NW corner of parking lot, be careful of bikes on paved path, then take dirt path leading south for nice openings to river views and lovely bosque.

Yelp
I had a very mixed experience here. My overall impression: a classy restaurant with a good, interesting take on chile rellenos, which I would have given a higher rating if not for the service. My waitress seemed very inexperienced and young (as did another waiter who came by), it took awhile for anyone to wait on me even for water, she didn't seem to really listen to my order and returned a few minutes later to ask what I wanted again. Then she returned after awhile to apologize that they had missed my order and she'd put it in then. She was polite and apologetic, but just not good at her job unfortunately. I heard another patron talking about getting someone else's meal (but thought it was delicious all the same)..it seemed to be a trend of mess-ups while I was there. She also told me the Yelp check-in offer they have was a mistake and invalid, so be aware of that. (And that if you get a Groupon, it has to be printed out.) On the Plus side, two other employees- one of which seemed to be the manager, were very attentive and apologetic later on. One noticed I was cold (the air was up very high) and turned it down for me. They told me my meal was on the house, which I really didn't expect or anything (I just planned to give a lower tip than normal). And most importantly for a restaurant, the chile relleno dish was very good quality, unique, and tasty. I liked the Thai miso salad dressing as well. It's a classy restaurant that just needs to refine their service. They could expand vegetarian options, but the one meal they have was solid.

Yelp
It was really hard to not give La Fonda Del Bosque 5 stars! Since this was my first time here I decided to come back a second time and if they are consistent with this recent visit they will get the 5 big ones due them. I promise! We met some friends at the National Hispanic Cultural Center to view the their most recent exhibit "La Cholla"...I'll get to that in a separate review to follow this one. Of course I looked up La Fonda on Yelp and it looked promising. We walked in with our friends and there were not a lot of people there but by the time we left it had almost filled up. To begin with the place is gosh-darn beautiful. Well appointed, linen on the table, linen napkins with utensils placed perfectly, nice crystal water glasses, clear-crunchy ice (this is impressive, folks!) and the wait staff were well dressed and well versed on the (sorta) minimalist menu. We opted for Guacamole to start. Expecting the usual scoop of guac with 5 chips protruding out like upside down icebergs, we got instead a generous basket of very warm corn chips and a platter with bowls of guacamole, sweet salsa, pico de galo, and some other nice tomato relish. This was around $8 and we had leftovers from the four of us. The cream of chicken soup was flavorful, spicy, generous...My only complaint was the soup spoon was too small...picky-picky...but that's what Yelpers do...detail-detail! My friend ordered a green chile pork soup and his was loaded with carne. Ours had lots-o-pollo! The bread was excellent but when I asked about what kind it was (Whole wheat with bits of grain to make it chewy) I was told they normally served their own bread which was some kind of focacia flat bread. We left stuffed and I didn't even have room for dinner except I did have some salmon I had smoked on the grill with a little fruit and cheese to get me through the evening. Tab for the four of us including 20% gratuity came to around $46. We all had water but I did see they had a full bar so beer and wine should be no problem. I did wonder why they were only opened for lunch (I could be mistaken here) and only Tuesday-Saturday. I will most certainly return and hope to give them the 5 stars they probably deserve but I am a stickler on consistency. I think you will not be disappointed.

Tara M.

Yelp
Good food, even better service! Torrey was so attentive. I kept asking for this and that and not once did he appear to get annoyed as some servers do. I would go back!

Fred K.

Yelp
The dishes here *look* delicious and if you like cilantro I'm sure that they are delicious. But if you have an aversion to cilantro--as many people do--and you order the Green Chile Chicken soup and the Green Chile Chicken pasta, be ready to go home hungry because they use lots of fresh cilantro. Please La Fonda chef---give people the choice of whether to include cilantro to your otherwise delicious dishes. The one saving grace for the evening was the fresh fruit desert in a liqueur. It was great.

Sheila C.

Yelp
We had lunch, it's beautiful place, good service, food was delicious..this would also make a great date night place or family gathering, business meeting-It's a little hidden but it's there with good parking.

Yelp
La Fonda Del Bosque is a thoroughly hidden and under-explored gem in Albuquerque. Maybe it's under explored, because it's not easy to find. It certainly isn't because the food is bad. The food is some of the best New Mexican/Mexican food I've had here in Albuquerque. From their main entrees for each meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner to their desserts, you get the sense they are all made with much love and thought. They have a nice mix of both New Mexican and Mexican cuisine tempered with traditional American cuisine of the healthier ilk. Sure their desserts are decadent. Their Eggs Benedict with Chipotle Hollandaise is supremely sinful. They refer to it as "A Latin Variation on a Classic." The restaurant is located within the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Turn into the Center's parking lot from the 4th Street entrance. Park in that area, and make your way through the maze of buildings and various entrances. Ask people. Don't be shy, ask them to direct you, walk with you, whatever it takes to get there. The coffee is so-so. Well, that's only if you're used to drinking espresso on a regular basis. But don't think about the coffee, think about the meal you'll eat there.

Matthew C.

Yelp
Great service and atmosphere in a historic building that is a staple of the Barelas/4th Street district. The staff was very cognizant of the guests that had reservations at the theater and they were highly accommodating to help us be on time. The food was a contemporary take on some New Mexican favorites. Nice not having to go to Santa Fe for this type of experience. The portions were perfect and the price range was just right. Thank you for the experience.
google avatar

Tim N.

Yelp
Went there for Sunday brunch, and very happy with the experience. The atmosphere was excellent, with a soft acoustic Spanish guitar player in the corner and a lunch appetizer buffet featuring a cerviche to die for. The food is very creatively designed, but still qualifies as comfort food. My Christmas-style relleno had goat cheese and a side of perfectly roasted potatoes and bell peppers that added a great touch to a NM classic. I agree with the reviewer who said this is some of the best New Mexican food in town.
google avatar

Rachel P.

Yelp
I really almost passed out when we walked up and saw the price for brunch. Then we decided to do it anyway and It. Was. So. Worth. It!!! My favorite Sunday brunch place of late. Excellent service, atmosphere, chef, and buffet. (and I am NOT a buffet girl!)
google avatar

Sena D.

Yelp
This place is great. The first time I came I had the Green Chile Chicken Pasta. It was amazing. I'm not a huge fan of pasta but I would eat this every day. I went the other day with my family and had the same thing. I tried everyone else's dishes and they were delicious. The staff was incredibly kind. They even brought out a sample of the day's soup for my grandparents to make sure it wasn't too hot for them. The pricing is excellent too. Where I'm living at the moment you can't find food this good for such low prices. This will be my go to place every time I come back to Albuquerque.
google avatar

Kitty K.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant nine years ago and I returned once again for the Chinese Duck BBQ quesadillas which are sooooo delicious. I also had the Chile Relledo and it was so very delicious, the corn was sublime and the peppers were ooey gooey and tangy. I will definitely return!
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Beautiful dining room, horrendous service and terribly run. With only one medium-sized dining room and 4 servers during the lunch shift, 2 tables remained un-cleared and 3 sets of waiting customers left after waiting over 20 minutes - not just to be sat, but to be acknowledged. I was a waiter at one point in my life and know enough about how to efficiently run a restaurant to recognize a poorly managed establishment with seemingly incompetent staff. Shame, too, because the food looked great.
google avatar

Suburban R.

Yelp
a good sunday brunch. after previewing the hispanic cultural center's small permanent collection but with a current visiting exhibition of cuban art , we were up for some good new mexican food. this restaurant is located in the compound of the museum, in a seperate older adobe building. on sundays, there is a buffet brunch for a mere $13 that offers a panoply of choices: eggs, chile, posole, meat dishes [in this instance, a tasty roast pork and a chicken in white creamy sauce]. there is also enchilada and adovada and fajitas. it's a perfect table for moral hazards... while chomping at these selections, there was a guitarist that unobtrusively played some gardel and other pleasant pieces. there were at least seven choices of desserts including cakes and flan, etc...
google avatar

Rebecca B.

Yelp
New ownership is awesome. Staff is super friendly and attentive. New space is crisp and clean. Food is excellent. I especially love the homemade chips, fries, steak salad, sage bread, cappuccino and brownie - although maybe not all in one meal ;). Definitely a great new lunch and coffee spot in the area.
google avatar

Ej S.

Yelp
AMAZING! The Belizian Chicken is fantastic. Portions are big and prices are very fair. They have a few kids meals that are great and large portions. This place is a must try, not just if you are in the area, but worth a trip just to eat there. Service was excellent too. They are only open for lunch 11am- 2pm Tuesday - Saturday.
google avatar

Amber G.

Yelp
The Sunday Brunch had obviously gone WAY up since the last people have reviewed it. It's $20 and that does not include drinks, which are $3.50 (even for coffee). The food was alright, nothing to write home about. First, you get food from the buffet, and then you order an entree. There are also desserts. While it is all nicely presented, it's just way too much. That being said, if you're not a huge eater, it's a complete rip off!
google avatar

Carol A.

Yelp
Worst experience ever, we went for lunch, we ordered the fish tacos and rissotto... where to start? Fish tacos it was filled with some sort of fish dough... it felt that the fish came out of a can and on top there were big pieces of swiss cheese, yup! Swiss cheese. The rissotto... it was a small (thank God) ball of sticky but dry rice full of cheese and with a sweet taste to it and it was surrounded with all.kind of grilled vegetables that were watery and covered wih balsamic, trust me not a good combination. To end this terrible meal we got a creme brulee... it was not creamy more like a flan out of a box. At least the manager understood and didn't charge for the meal. They do have great service.
google avatar

Nancy A.

Yelp
Went on a Thursday when I when I was in town for a conference. I was worried because I went during dinner and it was empty, even thought it was closed for a second. But the owner explained they had just started opening for dinnee. Food was absolutely delicious! So glad I went. The green chilli chicken soup was amazing!

Yelp
WOW!!! Fabulous food, amazing service. Lovely wait staff. Wonderful anbience. Everything on the menu looked marvelous. Definitely planning to return and bring guests. A hidden local treasure at a great cultural and educational institution. Lots to see and experience.
google avatar

Melita W.

Yelp
This is my favorite place for brunch. Great food, and awesome desserts. Don't go if you're on a diet...it's a waste of attempted will power. Came back a second time. Still agree with my first review. Go hungry!

Yelp
I recently visited Albuquerque and had a wonderful meal at this restaurant. The setting is beautiful, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. The chile rellenos were a standout and the guacamole was great as well. I'm so glad I found my way there and highly recommend it.

Yelp
If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, and luxurious place - you've found it! The ambience and comfort are great, including outstanding food. The fine dining at this restaurant offers patrons the finest in food, service and atmosphere. Dining at La Fonda is an integral part of luxury. Great place for a first date!!! Very quit and romantic atmosphere. I would greatly recommend this restaurant. I eat there at least three times a month and continue to go. ~love it~

Yelp
La Fonda del Bosque at the National Hispanic Cultural Center has reopened under the management of Stefanie Mangrum of City Treats Catering & Parties. She has renovated the room with a simple blue color that highlights the room's beautiful tin chandeliers and carved wood accents. The bar now bears a lovely blue and white tile facade. La Fonda is open for breakfast of coffee and pastries at 9 am and then serves lunch from 11:30 am until 2:30 Tuesday through Saturday. At my first visit I enjoyed the duck quesadillas and green chile chicken soup. The South West Steak Salad looked great as it went by and the wild mushroom chile rellenos looked scrumptious. We enjoyed the churros with a dipping sauce for dessert. The staff was really knowledgeable and friendly. So happy to have another place to eat when spending time at the Center.

Mr. A.

Yelp
Went to La Fonda for Sunday brunch. Great concept and execution. Everything was delicious, and extremely fresh. There were buffet items, like Paella, ceviche, some truly amazing crepes, smoked salmon, french toast, and more, plus, the price includes breakfast entrees. My wife and I both ordered the Eggs Benedict with Chipotle Hollandaise; amazing flavor and presentation. Staff was courteous and attentive, and service was prompt. They have a guitarist that plays beautiful Spanish music while you dine, which was an unexpected surprise, and the National Hispanic Cultural Center's campus and museum are free on Sundays, which really made for a pleasant Sunday experience. I highly recommend La Fonda Del Bosque for Sunday brunch.

Minda M.

Yelp
Sunday brunch was delightful. The combination of the small plate and desert buffet with a full plate meal was delicious. The price was very reasonable for the amount and quality of food. The guitarist was a nice touch. Definitely will go back soon and already planning Mother's Day there! The staff were very pleasant and accomodating. All in all a yummy experience. After breakfast strolled around the nature center and enjoyed the art and architecture too!

Yelp
My husband and I recently had brunch at La Fonda del Bosque thanks to a Groupon offering. We hadn't been before but we will definitely be back. The brunch was a mix of buffet items and an entree from the menu. The buffet included bagels and lox, ceviche, rice, quiche, french toast and blintzes. I ordered the paella from the menu and it was quite good, full of muscles, shrimp, little clams and fish. My husband ordered the Eggs Benedict which came in a tortilla bowl with chorizo underneath. I personally thought the eggs Benedict was better than the paella, but both were quite good. The French toast on the buffet was delicious and the quiche was very good as well. Service was pleasant and personable and the price was reasonable, even without the Groupon. We will definitely try it for dinner some night.

Yelp
We lunched this beautiful on-site café restaurant after visiting the amazing art museum and Torreon at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Really - you Albuquerquians should be bragging more about this place to out-of-towners. Our meal was delicious and the service solicitous. My daughter's wild mushroom chiles rellenos were especially superb. I see that others have lauded them, for good reason. And the décor was lovely which enhanced our meal. A good date place, I think. Yet we were surprised by how quiet the restaurant was on a Saturday. Judging from the other reviews I see here, you should not pass up this place.

Yelp
I came here for a weekday lunch after viewing the National Hispanic Center. I would recommend Sunday brunch instead. My crab avocado quesadilla was a little salty. It was made well. Unfortunately the service took quite long, and my tour group was unable to order desserts we originally planned. The ingredients are fresh. Servers are remarkably positive. Would have opted for the three course meal if I had time.

Yelp
Nailed it! Wonderful experience, wonderful food and it made for a wonderful Sunday. The brunch buffet selection was exquisite and the filet and relleno were full of flavor. Great Job!

Yelp
It's like night and day when it comes to the dinning room! Beautifully done. The food is amazing and service to match. Family oriented. All around great place to have lunch.

Yelp
La Fonda del Bosque restaurant at the National Hispanic Cultural Center reopened under new management in late June 2012 . The new menu features a wider variety of Spanish and Latin American cuisine in addition to some New Mexican specialties. It is open weekdays from 7 am for breakfast and lunch and on the weekends opening is at 9am. My husband and I had a great meal there this week. I had the Tacos de Alambre and he had the Cobb salad. Helpings were generous and delicious. I had a wonderful Cuban picadillo the week before. Staff is warm, friendly and will explain all the dishes. The best part for a downtown location is the large, free parking area. You can just have lunch or tour the museum and the exhibits at the History and Literary Arts building on campus. The manager was very interested in diner comments as he tweeks the menu.

Yelp
OMG amazing Sunday brunch today! I would run to enjoy the most unique and amazing brunch ABQ has ever seen......everything with a New Mexican and Mexican influence. Not your typical waffle, omelette station, with bacon type of brunch. Salmon, flan, chile rellenos stuffed with ground beef, and the list goes on. YUMMMO. Cannot wait to go again.

Yelp
Excellent food with quick and attentive service made for a great night out on Valentine's Day. Live music and a blazing fire made for a romantic atmosphere. The prix fixe dinner of a perfectly cooked filet mignon topped with crab on a bed of garlic mashed potatos, a fig and wild boar bacon salad, champagn and a rose for my wife, followed by a fantastic desert bar all for only $65 per couple couldn't be beat!

Yelp
So... my husband and I did go back as we planned- SO glad we did! There's something very soothing and mellow about the atmosphere here, and it's also a beautiful space! We had the homemade chips and guacamole- it comes with THREE salsas, which is amazing, and is delicious! My husband had the burger and fries- cooked a perfect medium as he requested, and he said he could've eaten a bowl full of the smoked paprika grilled onions on top! I had the mushroom chili rellenos- OMG, they're incredible- huge, soft as pillows, and absolutely stuffed with cheese and mushrooms! Did I mention the warm corn and pepper salsa underneath?? I ate every bit- there's also a salad on the plate full of veggies and assorted lettuces- it's was fantastic in its own right- not the usual throwaway after-thought- try the balsamic dressing-total yummm!!! Chef/Owner Mangrum uses only fresh, premium ingredients and you can taste the difference in every dish- she also cooks everything from scratch, and to order, so come here to relax and really dine, not when you're in a rush ( unless you just want soup/ salad). Be sure to notice the charming young hostess, Chef Mangrum's daughter who fills in when school's out- amazingly competent and charming! And if you don't mind a few extra calories you MUST try the warm Churros with chocolate dipping custard, or the Mexican brownies- warm, decadent heaven- and again, all fresh and homemade! The service is attentive, efficient and warm- a great new restaurant find for lunch- yeaaaa!!

Yelp
I am from NY and was in town for my son's graduation of his PhD back in May 2013. He took me here for Mother's Day and the staff was so wonderful, they gave all Mothers a flower, a specialty drink and made you feel special. The spread was absolutely awesome and food was excellent. Afterwards we took a 5 mile stroll along the Rio Grande to walk off the food we ate:) It was a beautiful day with great memories.

Yelp
Was here a few days ago to celebrate a friend's birthday. Am sorry we went. The place was freezing the whole time due to the door being propped open to the hallway. (and at the end of the hallway, the outside door was propped open) Overheard a few people complain about it. They turned up the thermostat as we were leaving. In addition, it took forever for the food to arrive--it wasn't even that busy. Very disappointing. Couldn't believe all this unnecessary aggravation as it is a bit pricey and a notch above the average fair type of restaurant. Also, they could do better in offering meatless meals--nothing worse than having to pick from only a couple of selections. That alone keeps me away from returning. (let alone the other issues that were mentioned) Doubt if I'll ever go back--probably would have done better to have gone to "Pop Fizz" which is a small simple food eatery a matter of feet away.

Yelp
While in town for a wedding, went here for brunch at the suggestion of a local relative. They had an extensive buffet with a variety of both breakfast and lunch items, including excellent fried chicken and a few different traditional Mexican items, including chicken and steak fajitas. Everything was outstanding while the service was both prompt and unobtrusive. One of the best meals I've had in recent memory and almost worth the trip in itself.
