This is an outstanding place with great hospitality and super delicious food! I was welcomed very warmly and got an introduction of the menu: everything is fresh and prepared with a lot of love! The taste was mouthwatering. A pleasure from arriving to the last bite: I will be back! Muchas gracias!

Me and two vegetarian friends had an absolutely fantastic lunch here. The service was friendly and patient with our minimal Spanish. The food was fresh, perfectly portioned, balanced, and local. The vibes were welcoming, easy-going, and helpful. I'd love to go back again soon.

Best meal we had in Montevideo! Ingredients were so fresh and offered a unique take on classics like Milanesa (baked, not fried). The ambience was perfect, too!

Found this hidden gem in the heart of Montevideo’s old town and loved it! It’s on a gorgeous pedestrian street and the outdoor seating had a wonderful vibe. The indoor area was in a beautiful old building with an open kitchen so you could see the chefs at work. We tried both vegetarian salads and they were delicious and creative with fresh veggies from their garden. The tagliatelle noodles were hand made and were absolutely delicious. You could really tell that chefs love what they do! We would recommend this restaurant to anyone in or passing through Montevideo!

One of my favorite restaurants in MVD! I’ve been coming here for 7+ years and have never had a mediocre experience. The owner is usually cooking. The service is always friendly. The pastas and breads are homemade and fresh. The menu is small, yet diverse enough to please almost everyone. I highly recommend La Fonda :)

Amazing fresh and light food! Portions were big for one person but at the same time it won’t leave you too full, mainly because the food is made super fresh. Hard to explain how my taste buds felt after tasting the food. All the compliments to the chef! The restaurant’s vibe is quaint and local in the middle of a busy street, with local food. We got the pasta and the steak, and it was SO fresh and light that it just melted in our mouths. Mario is such a sweet person and chef! Planning to go back everyday while we are here in Montevideo :)

Two of us had it with Mario’s legendary tomato sauce – so rich, it could make an Italian mama weep. The brave one among us went sauce-free, letting the pasta’s freshness shine on its own. Mario was there, grinning proudly and making us feel like we’d discovered culinary treasure. La Fonda isn’t just a meal; it’s a piece of Uruguayan history, served up by a true maestro.
