La Fondation hotel | 17th arrondissement, Paris | Smith Hotels

"A modernist layer cake in Paris’ bohemian Batignolles neighbourhood, La Fondation delights on every level. From the subterranean spa and pool soars an all-stops-pulled sports club. A locally loved brasserie spills out onto the pavement; above, clean-lined rooms — courtesy of NYC design doyens Roman and Williams — gaze out over the city. And from the rooftop bar, views of the 17th arrondissement's mansard rooftops and romantic parks give way to the Eiffel Tower and Sacré-Coeur. Talk about a cherry on top..." - Mr & Mrs Smith

La Fondation (Paris, Île-de-France) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Opened in early 2025 in Paris’s 17th arrondissement, La Fondation forms part of a mixed-use new building. Its USP must surely be its chic rooftop bar, which provides stunning views over the City of Light. The 58 bedrooms come with a contemporary look, but not at the expense of warmth and comfort. There are also two restaurants, a swimming pool and wellness center; and if you feel you haven’t stretched your legs enough, there’s even a climbing wall." - Tablet Hotels

This is a luxurious and very spacious hotel for Paris. The pool, sauna, restaurants, cooking space and roof bar are all great features. My wife and I had a comfortable stay. The entire staff was very accommodating and professional. The managers, Paula, Johan, the wait staff and the whole team there are top notch. We hope to return soon.

We stayed at La Foundation from September 5–7 and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The hotel is full of surprises and combines comfort with incredible design. The rooftop is stunning, offering beautiful views, and the breakfast was both delicious and healthy, setting the perfect tone for each day.||The staff were consistently great and extremely helpful, making everything feel effortless. One highlight of our stay was the gym, which honestly blew our minds—it has a climbing wall, yoga studio, cardio equipment, a boxing area, and even an Olympic-length indoor pool. It truly sets a new standard for a hotel fitness center.||On the evening of September 6, we had dinner at the hotel, and it was outstanding. The food was easily Michelin star level—both the turbot and the lobster were prepared to perfection, and the wine by the glass was excellent.||Our room was beautifully decorated with a wonderful atmosphere, making it relaxing and memorable. Beyond the hotel itself, the surrounding area was vibrant and full of life, with markets, restaurants, and bars to explore just steps away.||We will definitely come back to this exceptional hotel and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special and unforgettable stay

I visited rooftop bar at La Fondation couple of days ago with my friend. The space is quite small, but nicely designed, creating an intimate atmosphere. The view is spectacular- it’s obvious that the place has a great potential. But, unfortunately, doesn’t live up to it for now. It’s an elegant bar in a 5 star hotel, but the service was clearly not trained in that kind of facility. If it was trained at all. Waiters pays no attention to you, not even once coming and checking if you need anything. All that while the bar was at 30% capacity and the stuff was clearly bored by the counter. We ordered a bottle of wine and each time our glasses were empty, we had to ask the waiter to refill them (again, place was at maximum 30% capacity and employees were simply bored). The final straw was when we asked a waiter to refill our glasses and finish the bottle - the waiter, clearly irritated and rude, approached us, took the wine out of the ice bucket, looked at it, after few seconds he put it back in the ice bucket and went back behind the bar without serving us anything. If you don’t know how to host guests, you should not be working in hospitality. Especially in such an elegant place. I hope the managers will change or train better the staff, as the potential of this rooftop bar is really big :)

We had a wonderful time at the hotel 🤩 At check-in time, they welcomed our requests very kindly. The rooms are spacious and clean, the beds are comfortable. All room stuffs were elegant, there is a welcome card in the room with your name on it, including two delicious pieces of chocolate. They clean daily and come back to ask you in the evening if you need anything. The reception staff is very friendly, cheerful and welcoming (morning-evening). The hotel staff in general, wherever you go, smile and welcome you. I felt like I was among my home. At check-out time, it was a weekend and early in the morning, the receptionist was cooperative and carried our bags and put them in the car and saw us off to the door. Thank you..

Stayed here recently . My wife and daughter had previously stayed and were very impressed. |Nice to stay in a local district where people say hello and there are lots of cafes , restaurants and bars full of locals. The hotel is low key , nice reception area to relax . Staff and Management are so friendly and efficient. |We really enjoyed using the large pool and spa. ( extra safety points for having a life guard on duty , which you rarely see at hotel pools ) |The roof top bar is a busy social area in the evening with wonderful views of the city. There’s also a garden area at a lower level that is lovely to read in. |We didn’t eat in the restaurant as there was so much choice locally but will on our next visit. |Villiers metro about 10 minutes walk which will bring you to centre of Paris but do try and stay in the local|area and enjoy tourist free Paris. |Rue de Lévis on the way to the Metro is a shopping paradise.

La Foundation — a place where Paris feels different. I was traveling solo — and this was the perfect choice. The hotel is tucked away in a peaceful neighborhood, far from the tourist chaos, yet close to everything that matters. It’s exactly what you want when you’re looking for a balance between inspiration and calm. The room was stylish down to the smallest detail: minimalistic yet tasteful. Housekeeping twice a day (!) — coming back to the room always felt like a small luxury. I loved the little touches — perfectly made bed, warm lighting, a scent you wish you could bottle up and take home. The staff? Wonderful. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful without being over the top. They know how to make you feel welcome without overwhelming you. The spa deserves its own spotlight. Everything is new, spotless, beautifully designed. The pool feels like something out of a movie — the kind of place where you forget you’re in the middle of a busy city. Pure bliss after a long day out. Breakfast isn’t about quantity — it’s about quality and ease. Simple, quick, and satisfying. Exactly what I needed before a day of meetings or exploring. And then — the Eiffel Tower view. Just wow. These are the little details that make a trip unforgettable. Of course, I had to check out the rooftop terrace. The weather didn’t cooperate for a proper sunset drink, but the staff still let me go up, take photos, and enjoy the view. The atmosphere? Pure magic. La Foundation isn’t just a hotel. It’s a state of mind — a perfect hideaway for when you want to be alone, but still feel at the heart of Paris.

My wife and I just checked out of La Fondation, a brand-new boutique hotel in the 17th arrondissement, a charming, walkable neighborhood that feels authentically Parisian without the tourist crowds.||The hotel is aspiring to be 5-star, and with amenities like what seems to be the largest swimming pool in Paris, a full boxing gym, full service spa, and more, it’s already well on its way. The rooms are beautifully designed, elegant yet cozy, like staying in someone’s thoughtfully curated Paris home.||The real standout, though, is the food and beverage. Dinner at La Base (the ground floor all day dining) was Michelin-level, and breakfast was just as spectacular. The rooftop bar has incredible Eiffel Tower views, and as a guest, you can head straight up from your room. Non-guests line up nightly outside the lobby to get in… and for good reason. Theo, who manages the rooftop, was completely on it, making sure everyone had a drink in hand and a smile on their face while ensuring the vibe stayed just right. They’re opening a new gastronomic restaurant this fall, and if it’s anything like what we experienced, it’ll be a major hit.||And of course, honorable mentions to the incredible team: Executive Chef Tomas Rossi, legit, best chef in the game. Angela, the kindest and extremely personable server. Lucas, the young and most passionate sommelier I’ve encountered in all my travels. And JD, the front desk manager, whose genuine hospitality far exceeded even five-star standards.||To top it off, we ended up sharing breakfast with an American TV/film stars who he and his wife were also raving about the place. Safe to say, La Fondation is already making their mark.||Huge congrats to the team! We can’t wait to come back.

My second time in this lovely hotel in the 17th arrondissment. I spent 4 nights here in June with my daughter and had such a pleasant experience that I returned in August with my husband for a 3 night break. |It is far from the madding crowds of tourists found nearer the centre but very well connected by metro at Villiers which is 5 minutes by foot from the hotel and a 20 minutes will bring you to Opera and the heart of the city. |The area of Batignolles is lovely; very local, peaceful and well served with restaurants, shops and cafes aplenty. |But it is the hotel and it's wonderful staff that will keep us returning when in Paris.|The hotel is very new, opened in April 2025 I think, and the rooms are modern and well appointed with plenty of light, both natural and electric! |There is a wonderful 25M swimming pool in the basement and also a sauna, hammam and gym.|Gorgeous views of the Eiffel tower and Sacre Coeur can be enjoyed from the rooftop bar. |All of this is fantastic but it is the staff who make this hotel truly special. |Friendly smiles and service from everyone and a special mention to JD and Paola on the front desk for their kindness.|I have no hesitation in recommending this gorgeous hotel and look forward to returning in the near future.
