My wife and I just checked out of La Fondation, a brand-new boutique hotel in the 17th arrondissement, a charming, walkable neighborhood that feels authentically Parisian without the tourist crowds.||The hotel is aspiring to be 5-star, and with amenities like what seems to be the largest swimming pool in Paris, a full boxing gym, full service spa, and more, it’s already well on its way. The rooms are beautifully designed, elegant yet cozy, like staying in someone’s thoughtfully curated Paris home.||The real standout, though, is the food and beverage. Dinner at La Base (the ground floor all day dining) was Michelin-level, and breakfast was just as spectacular. The rooftop bar has incredible Eiffel Tower views, and as a guest, you can head straight up from your room. Non-guests line up nightly outside the lobby to get in… and for good reason. Theo, who manages the rooftop, was completely on it, making sure everyone had a drink in hand and a smile on their face while ensuring the vibe stayed just right. They’re opening a new gastronomic restaurant this fall, and if it’s anything like what we experienced, it’ll be a major hit.||And of course, honorable mentions to the incredible team: Executive Chef Tomas Rossi, legit, best chef in the game. Angela, the kindest and extremely personable server. Lucas, the young and most passionate sommelier I’ve encountered in all my travels. And JD, the front desk manager, whose genuine hospitality far exceeded even five-star standards.||To top it off, we ended up sharing breakfast with an American TV/film stars who he and his wife were also raving about the place. Safe to say, La Fondation is already making their mark.||Huge congrats to the team! We can’t wait to come back.
