La Fondation hotel | 17th arrondissement, Paris | Smith Hotels

"A modernist layer cake in Paris’ bohemian Batignolles neighbourhood, La Fondation delights on every level. From the subterranean spa and pool soars an all-stops-pulled sports club. A locally loved brasserie spills out onto the pavement; above, clean-lined rooms — courtesy of NYC design doyens Roman and Williams — gaze out over the city. And from the rooftop bar, views of the 17th arrondissement's mansard rooftops and romantic parks give way to the Eiffel Tower and Sacré-Coeur. Talk about a cherry on top..." - Mr & Mrs Smith

My wife and I just checked out of La Fondation, a brand-new boutique hotel in the 17th arrondissement, a charming, walkable neighborhood that feels authentically Parisian without the tourist crowds.||The hotel is aspiring to be 5-star, and with amenities like what seems to be the largest swimming pool in Paris, a full boxing gym, full service spa, and more, it’s already well on its way. The rooms are beautifully designed, elegant yet cozy, like staying in someone’s thoughtfully curated Paris home.||The real standout, though, is the food and beverage. Dinner at La Base (the ground floor all day dining) was Michelin-level, and breakfast was just as spectacular. The rooftop bar has incredible Eiffel Tower views, and as a guest, you can head straight up from your room. Non-guests line up nightly outside the lobby to get in… and for good reason. Theo, who manages the rooftop, was completely on it, making sure everyone had a drink in hand and a smile on their face while ensuring the vibe stayed just right. They’re opening a new gastronomic restaurant this fall, and if it’s anything like what we experienced, it’ll be a major hit.||And of course, honorable mentions to the incredible team: Executive Chef Tomas Rossi, legit, best chef in the game. Angela, the kindest and extremely personable server. Lucas, the young and most passionate sommelier I’ve encountered in all my travels. And JD, the front desk manager, whose genuine hospitality far exceeded even five-star standards.||To top it off, we ended up sharing breakfast with an American TV/film stars who he and his wife were also raving about the place. Safe to say, La Fondation is already making their mark.||Huge congrats to the team! We can’t wait to come back.

We loved everything about this charming hotel—the interior design, the location, and the amazing view of Parisian rooftops. Breakfast on the terrace was exceptional. What made our stay special was the staff, who uplifted the whole experience with their attentiveness and cheerfulness :) A heartfelt thank you to Louise and Jean-Damien for their warm welcome!

Great hotel in the 17th. Rooms are spacious and thoughtfully designed. Everything felt clean and new. The view from the rooftop is awesome! Some may consider the hotel to be far from the “main tourist attractions,” but I prefer it that way! The neighborhood is quiet, and everything is easily accessible by bike or subway. I will definitely stay again next time I am in Paris!

Beautiful hotel in a residential area of Paris. We normally stay on the 1st arr. but glad we moved to this area for this trip. The most adorable stores for wine, cheese, pastries (go to French Bastards), and cafe’s filled with locals. ||||The hotel has a beautiful spa and fitness area with a huge pool. There is a rooftop bar with 360 degrees of Paris, simply STUNNING! But by far, the best part of the hotel is the food!!! A standout in a market with a lot of great restaurants. Try the crispy rice risotto, the cod confit and the cherry pistachio dessert. ||||A big thank you to Thomas, Angela, JD, and Lucas.||||The staff was so sweet and attentive, helped make many different accommodations including reservations and a visit to Giverny. ||||This will be our spot moving forward.

La Foundation — a place where Paris feels different. I was traveling solo — and this was the perfect choice. The hotel is tucked away in a peaceful neighborhood, far from the tourist chaos, yet close to everything that matters. It’s exactly what you want when you’re looking for a balance between inspiration and calm. The room was stylish down to the smallest detail: minimalistic yet tasteful. Housekeeping twice a day (!) — coming back to the room always felt like a small luxury. I loved the little touches — perfectly made bed, warm lighting, a scent you wish you could bottle up and take home. The staff? Wonderful. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful without being over the top. They know how to make you feel welcome without overwhelming you. The spa deserves its own spotlight. Everything is new, spotless, beautifully designed. The pool feels like something out of a movie — the kind of place where you forget you’re in the middle of a busy city. Pure bliss after a long day out. Breakfast isn’t about quantity — it’s about quality and ease. Simple, quick, and satisfying. Exactly what I needed before a day of meetings or exploring. And then — the Eiffel Tower view. Just wow. These are the little details that make a trip unforgettable. Of course, I had to check out the rooftop terrace. The weather didn’t cooperate for a proper sunset drink, but the staff still let me go up, take photos, and enjoy the view. The atmosphere? Pure magic. La Foundation isn’t just a hotel. It’s a state of mind — a perfect hideaway for when you want to be alone, but still feel at the heart of Paris.

Spent a night at La Fondation and all i can say is: it’s a gem! I spent a full day there: indoor pool, gym, sauna, super nice restaurant and my favorite part: the rooftop overseeing the best parts of Paris. The room was surprisingly spacious, quietly luxurious and very calm since it wasn’t on the street side. The staff is so kind, you can literally ask them anything. I also love the area, the hotel is super well situated. Will definitely come back xx

We’ve stayed at many luxury hotels around the world, but La Fondation in Paris truly stands out. As one of the best new hotels in Paris, it already shows an exceptional level of care and attention to detail — impressive for such a recently opened property. From the moment you step inside, you feel at ease. The interior design is cohesive, elegant, and thoughtfully curated — modern without being cold, luxurious without being over the top. The entire atmosphere invites you to slow down and feel at home. What makes this boutique hotel in Paris even more special is the outstanding team. Every staff member we encountered was genuinely friendly, helpful, and professional. You can tell they are passionate about what they do and truly care about guest satisfaction. A unique highlight is the hotel’s state-of-the-art fitness center — by far the most extensive and modern we’ve ever seen in a hotel. Spanning four floors and even featuring a climbing wall, it’s a dream come true for any fitness lover. This is something you rarely find, especially in central Paris. The rooms are just as impressive: beautifully designed, spacious (especially by Paris standards), and incredibly comfortable. La Fondation is a rare find — a luxury hotel in Paris that combines aesthetic excellence, warm hospitality, and modern amenities. We felt completely at ease and will definitely return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable stay in Paris.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Hotel La Fondation. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and made sure we had everything we needed. The food and service at the restaurants was top-notch, with very creative dishes. The views from the rooftop were some of the best you can get in Paris. Also I was very surprised at how big the pool/spa and the fitness area was. Very comfortable and relaxing experience. Overall great hotel, we will be back our next time in Paris.
