Lovely French town with ample nice places to eat. Follow the brass elephants on the street beside the fountain for a self guided tour, going however quickly you like, to see some lovely old buildings built in typical French style.

Very beautiful historical fountain ⛲️ 😍 I don't know if the water is potable, but it doesn't look so. I used to sit in the near garden and enjoy reading.

This is the most famous location in chambery. You can visit all the famous place of chambery near to it. Statue is very fabulous and maintained it very well. Kids enjoying near to it.

The elephant heads with the steep mountain slopes in the background reminded me of Hannibal's army, climbing the Alps to conquest the ancient Rome. However, these elephants look like Indian elephants which is intriguing, as the ones used by Hannibal in the war against Romans were most probably African elephants (with much larger ears). Then I learned that the monument is actually dedicated to a French mercenary born in Chambery, who made his fortune in India (General Count de Boigne). Interesting monument, anyway! It's the symbol of the city and not to be missed if you're around.

Beautiful fountain with a nice area around it to sit and chill out. There are some nice shops around here too! If you come to Chambéry we really recommend the walking tour around the city! There are little bronze elephants on the pavement that you can follow around and get to see all of the sights. It's a beautiful 1-2 hour stroll with lots to see and freedom to stop or skip during the "tour".

3.5🌟 we reckon. On the way back from Annecy to Grenoble, we decided to stop in Chambery. It was still early. We were pleasantly surprised that the town has lots to offer too. We parked near the main square. As usual, there are lots of restaurants, cafes, ice-cream parlours at the square. Decided to stroll further after our evening drinks. We arrived at the fountain. Most fountains in larger towns we have seen are always grand and somewhat of a center piece. This one is no different. The elephants have their backs again the fountain, which is of course a defensive posture. As if to tell everyone, they are protecting the fountain. Walking further, we were greeted by several other monuments within the town. A worthwhile stopover with many sights to see.

A hidden gem in France. This is such a picturesque beautiful little town, with narrow streets and lovely restaurants. Slap bang in the middle of the French Alps.
